  2. Curiously no one has mentioned Fender's alleged price fixing story in all of this
  3. Good looking bass and looks prretty good value too
  4. I can't help noticing there is a small part of Scotland with a large proportion of lefty bass players. No wonder Guitar Guitar in Glasgow got all those high end lefties in
  5. Having dipped into the discounted supply, I deliberately kept out of the dialogue on this until I had got used to the first set of strings fitted on my sunburst jazz. I have to say after a 'what is this' sort of start, I have really got into these strings. I am playing the advanced series 40-100 gauge and loving the tone. I play finger style through a vintage setup and it is the elephant's pajamas. Thanks for the intro!
  6. Dusty was also Ealing's other claim to fame (apart from the R&B Club). Her first job was working in Squires Music Shop next to the Town Hall

  8. I see what you mean about him being a Rush fan
  9. I'm still grinding through how to play the chorus of Peg in time, until I get to the sunny uplands of Josie
  10. You'll need one of those cameras they used to take school photos with soon....then you can take the bass on the left and put it on the right and see if anyone notices
  11. Dusty in Memphis is one of my favourite albums of all time
  12. This guy seems to be the biggest Steely Dan Bass fan in the world, and I've found watching his vids helpful
  13. And are we allowed to see the rest? Pleeeeese!
  14. My goodness, that is a thing of beauty ELP tribute band?
  15. Surely the Guitarist's mum doing relaxation exercises with the whole of Madison Sq Gardens at c 22 minutes is inspired/unique. Did Bruce Springsteen ever think of this? Just watch the audience. It is proper entertainment (and I confess to liking Joe Dart's playing too)
  16. Can you still part with your Wal? Perhaps I can PM you (if I can remember how :))
  17. That was a Fylde #998 And this is a (non electric) Earthwood
  18. Your wish is my command. There are many fascinating and obscure parts of his collection. I think that's partly what makes it so interesting (and then there are the Alembics of course :))
  19. I got myself an ex-library copy of 'Bass Culture', the picture book of John Entwhistle's bass collection (which I enjoy a lot more than Geddie's book). I did find myself puzzling over what's going on here: Can anyone enlighten me?
  20. It works until you get tempted to buy a different coloured one. However, my wife and I have come to an accomodation....if she spots I've bought another bass, she gets to buy a handbag (with my money).
  21. Has anyone got any top tips on how to nail down the timing of the chorus to Peg by Steely Dan (and the lead in to the chorus for that matter)? It should be page 438 of 'The Complete Electric Bass Player'
  22. This is a brilliant sequence drawing on a fantastic array of influences https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2020/04/03/thundercat-breaks-down-his-favorite-bass-lines/
