I had my bass nicked after, yes you guessed, leaving it in the car overnight.

Luckily I found it again, a year later, in my local pawnshop.

Glad to hear you got it back!

One of my bands, one guitarist left his guitar at a gig. A week later asked us "has anyone seen my guitar?"  6 months later he returns to the venue and his guitar is still on stage exactly where he left it. Luckily it was a favour playing at his step dad's churchy thing. Still... WTF?!  No idea how it took him so long to connect the dots.

Another, in the same band, left a super rare Japanese strat from the 80s I think at a function he thinks. Years ago. Swears he knows exactly where he left it. Didn't do anything about it at the time, now laments its loss.

I drum in that band. Often the guitarists will ask if I have a spare lead or plectrums.  😒

How did you avoid Scott Devine’s theft? I couldn’t escape reading about it at one point!

Yeah I did hear about that actually. I guess because the link wasnt as immediate I didn't acknowledge it in the same way. But he got it back, didn't he! I gues the moral is if you're gonna have shizz nicked, make sure you're famous first? =D

  3. Ah, scams are a different thing though, I've narrowly escaped a couple by the skin of my teeth.  I'm talking about the myriad "my stuff got stolen from my car" posts I come across.  The 'ah that suuuuucks" reaction is quickly superseded by "WHY DID YOU LEAVE ALL THAT IN YOUR CAR OVERNIGHT?!"

Didn't mean to rub it in to anyone that is going through a loss of their own, sorry chaps and chapettes!

but I wouldn't trust it for any gig, anywhere.

As if any band member in their right mind would allow someone to bring that monstrosity on any stage =D

From what I've seen, his vids are harmless fun, I believe some of them come from random follower suggestions so he'll build or acquire some ridiculous machine for the sake of the vid.  But bare in mind we're in the age of people amassing cult followings and making a living out of filming themselves playing effing Minecraft.  I'd rather watch his impressive nonsense than some inane silly billy like that Pewdiepie et al.

  5. A post on here led me to thinking... of all the "look out for XYZ that got stolen from a gig/car/back of my bicycle/my drunken hands" posts I see on F******k and the like, it's never  rarely bass gear.

So, at the risk of perpetuating the divide between band members and the reviving the old singer/drummer/bassist joke type thing, why is it seemingly only drummers and guitarists that get their stuff nicked?  Or, as is the case with 2 of my band members, leave their gear places and forget about it, never to be seen again? 🤔

Any of you ever left your gear in a car overnight or left unattended whilst you've gone to get whizzed?

p.s. I also drum and play guitar in other bands so not ragging, I'm just really anal about my gear and it astounds me how little others care for theirs.

  6. Again, as per the Greek, pups would be my next port of call after checking the set up if the problem persists.  Don't know if you've registered your bass with Fender but when you do, you can download manuals and sometimes schematics pertinent to your bass.  Might be worth checking through all that to see if there's anything you've missed?  Never done a fretless setup so don't know much about them but I'd imagine the string height will have to be different to a fretted bass which in turn will affect the pup height.

  7. £25 posted

Stupidly bought them without realising they're MEDIUM SCALE (caps to help you avoid idiocy like mine, not shouting at you, promise, I'm nice!)

Only realised when putting the E string on so cut maybe an inch off the top I think but as you can see plenty of winding room left, maybe... TOO much winding room...

    Other strings remain untouched.

  8. I just bought a J bass through here last night and so far it's the only J I've ever had that has delivered tonally.  Always found them to be a little too thin (generally a P Bass man) but this one does everything I'd want it to do!

  9. After a trade more than anything, is that allowed here?

Much loved and played hollow body, just fancy a change.

Current equivalent goes for around £700 new without legit case and strap (another £150) so I'd put trade value at around £600 for the lot (I'm ballparking here).

Looking for something with Bigsby or some sort of tremelo so Jaguars or Jazzmasters welcome. Semi-hollows with fixed bridge and centre block also good.

Alternatively, a Fender 2x10 or a valve head considered. Been looking at the Egnators recently so could be of interest.

Not interested in anything Les Pauly or pointy. Classic looking double cut semis or Fenders are the preference. Case and fancy bejeweled strap included depending on what's offered. Lesser value items with cash my way considered.

Any questions or for more detailed pics hit me up.

  10. Based in Walton on Thames, near Kingston (SW London/Surrey)

    *Now £60*

Used but still alive. Couple of cracks that I've repaired with epoxy resin and they're solid. One crack I forgot to repair but will do if you want it done before collecting.

Recently replaced the handle so you've got a brand new handle and lock with keys.  That itself cost me about £30 in all.

Would trade for a usable fretless neck if it fits a Fender body.

You can arrange courier if you want it posted but would prefer collection or meet up.

  11. Ah, I did have the year in the title but I must have accidentally deleted it.  2009 I believe, serial is 37xx
Always happy to give more deets and take more pics.  I think 'younger Sandbergs' is the key phrase there, this is early days of Sandberg and I don't see how that can make it any less worth asking price...

Either way, a guy is on his way to have a look so maybe gone shortly anyway.

    Cheers

  12. fwiw, you played a Starfire 2?  Sound great but the neck is like a stick of rock.  Ended up selling mine because it was just too thin and felt weird going from P bass to SF2.

Sorry, don't mean to derail just if you haven't played one I'd check one first if possible.  Someone said the same to me and I didn't listen.  Should've done =D

  13. I did that thing where I convinced myself I needed a Sandberg 5er, got a beauty, took it to a few different rehearsals and sessions thinking 'this is where I'll bust it out', never actually did 'bust it out' and slowly realised I probably never will have the opportunity to 'bust it out', lovely as it is.  So it's just playing along at home with tracks that specifically have the low B just so it isn't ornamental.  It's wasted on me as current projects have no need for it, which is a shame, so... if anyone's interested in a Sandberg at a steal it's up in the market place... 👀
