Just watched the performance on Later. I liked both tracks and thought they were very un-Floyd like, in fact I thought they were decidedly Roxy Music in flavour. Guy Pratt sounded great.

According to the website, my Rob Allen MB2 is approx 6.5lbs. To be honest, it feels lighter.

Fretless PRS seen on farcebook... I think I'm in love...
Filth! -
Any of the Rob Allens are worth a try, my MB2 can have that deep upright like tone or, with a boost in the 500k range, a more 'typical' fretless tone.

Hard to beat that combination. The nicest thing about those SUB necks is, as they're 'unfinished', you can easily make them more playable. Congrats.

there's a lot of lucre in the nostalgia game.
Which is why pub bands that play all the songs we love to hate, often badly (you know the ones), fill dance floors every week. -
Given the Motown name check, LaBellas would be my first port of call. Other folk have mentioned that the tension is quite high, but I've never noticed any difference between them and my usual Elixir or D'Addario rounds (45, 55, 80, 100). http://www.labella.com/products/760fl/

Hiwatt T40 head. Not sure of the price, but seems to fit the criteria sound wise http://www.robchapman.tv/forum/threads/hiwatt-t40-combo-first-impressions.31024/

I got a lovely email from Paul at Wal yesterday evening regarding the review in this months BGM.
Despite a couple of inaccuracies in the review the overall vibe was positive and If Paul's happy so am I... he did make it afterall, I just ordered it!
The inaccuracies are not the best advert for the mag and details are surely easily checked before print, but the fact that they liked your Wal must give you a nice warm glow. However, as a review, I found it a bit cursory, more details in the sound and playability department definitely required. -

Yes, that was a good one. I also liked the instrumental theme from OHMSS -- some damned fine music on that film's soundtrack.
Those soaring John Barry string arrangements always give me goosebumps. -

I thought the RTB mix sounds quite good! Can't wait for the album/DVD.
Agreed. Other than the rhythm guitar needing to be a little higher in the mix, I didn't think that was too sloppy. Great bass tone. -
Voted. Bilbo got my vote this month, I really liked the John Martyn meets Pat Metheny with Danny Thompson on bass vibe.
-
I liked Chris Cornell's Remember My Name for Casino Royale.

Time for a pic I feel,

Richard Thompson chose to play (IMO) the weakest song from his new album, strange thing to do, hopefully he'll be a bit more exciting on Friday!
Agreed. I found that most disappointing, maybe, as you say, the extended Friday show will have better stuff. As for the rest, I pretty much fast forwarded through it all. -

I'm still all over mine like a rash. Here's a some snippets of a few songs from a gig with my fun covers band at the weekend.
SHOCK: I'm using rounds. And BIGGER SHOCK: Sometimes a pick.
Sounding really good both with and without the pick. -
Lovely guitars that punch way above their price point.

£2K for a decent acoustic is probably quite reasonable. If it's handmade there'll be an awful lot of time and skill gone into it.
And compared to classical instruments that's a drop in the ocean, their 'quality' stuff is insanely expensive -

I'd be interested to hear it... it's not quite P bass position is it.
Have you played one with the pickup in that position?
No I haven't, but it looks similar to a Stingray's position. -
The pickup looks to be in a bit of an odd place... I think if I was to have a single pickup Wal I'd want it in the proper bridge position like the later pro series second from right.
That's part of what attracts me to it.
