Defo a US Sterling fiver.
-
£5 for a big old line up like that; bargain! Have a good one.
-
IIRC the Road Worn series came with US pickups. I had the P and fitted an additional P pickup, a Seymour Duncan, I couldn't tell any difference in the quality of tone from the two. So, as NancyJohnson says, if it ain't broke, why fix it?
-
You may be correct, with something this old and road worn it's hard to tell. But if it is a rare swamp ash body....BOOM! Price increase! Yours for £5k Nah, just kidding. I'll be satisfied with the current asking price. All I know is that it sounds huge and the neck is a joy to play. Having been using my 4003 for some time now, the P's neck feels really small by comparison, a very shallow C as opposed the Ric's chunky D shape.
-
There is quite a long section in GP's book that talks about the session. He is using an octaver and channeling Pino, especially in the outro.
-
Some better live shots for the gallery is all that I'd add to the above. Otherwise, looks fine to me.

I still have my copy of "Glitter" by Gary Glitter.
I remember that being really good.
I was tidying up the other day and came across a copy of Rolf Harris' autobiography. Made me feel awkward. I'm not sure charity shops will want it. -

The band leader didn't deliberately go behind our backs, it was a simple misunderstanding. I suppose I could check with lead guitarist, see what conclusion he'd taken away from the meeting.
Nah, that boat has sailed, move on, no point in looking for more friction. Look for a drummer that has what you want in terms of ability, personality and commitment. Maybe it is your keyboard player, it rather depends on how he likes his current role. -
Ouch! That didn't go well at all. I don't know the guy, but your 'leader' does not come off well; just because you lead a band, doesn't make it 'your' band.
Going forward, as has been previously said, get a new drummer altogether. -

My first ever proper gig was April Wine at Newcastle City hall (1979ish) on the `Harder Faster` tour, supported by Angelwitch and Sledgehammer, ive still got the programme somewhere (signed by the support) and im sure the pic your referring to is in there, i`ll try to find it I always liked the track `Before the Dawn`
I had Harder, Faster. I bought it after seeing them on The Old Grey Whistle Test (video from Le Studio). Before the Dawn was a great track. IIRC there's a King Crimson track on that album; 21st Century Schizoid Man? -
I'd try using an octaver during the solos to add another note, or maybe a harmoniser to give a fifth, like the Fishman Powerchord http://www.fishman.com/product/fission-bass-powerchord-fx-pedal. If you want to also add a drive, head over to the a Drive Shoot Out elsewhere in the effects forum and pick the sound of your favourite http://basschat.co.uk/topic/271402-drive-pedal-shootout-7-pedals-for-starters/page__fromsearch__1

A two PB300 rig with the Cub on top would be something though......
Stop it! Mind you a 14x5 rig would move some air -
I was only listening the Geddy Lee playing one of these on the Grace Under Pressure tour yesterday on youtube; amazing, huge tone. GLWTS.

Rush, both Presto and Roll the Bones.

Very close between the B3K, BDDI and VT for me and it varied dependent on the style being played. However, outside of the clips, because the VT has more EQ control, I plumped for that one.

Yes, it is the marvellous Guy Pratt, playing 'Betsy'. @1:50

Flightcase sold
Curses! Too much deliberation at Ez Towers; you snooze, you lose (I hadn't even raised it with Lady Ez so it's my own fault). -
Sandberg Basic VM. Just select the P pickup and it sounds, well, like a P bass. However, you also get the MM style pickup in the bridge position (this makes it sound like a meaty J pickup rather than a 'Ray) for those moments when you want to add some bite to your tone. Quirky styling, but with very good balance, make it something a bit different.

DUDE! Sorry to hear of your troubles Pete, addictions take a heavy toll I'm glad that you're well on the way to turning it round and admitting to your problem/troubles in such a public way is certainly a big step it getting back on track; kudos. Positive vibes from Ez Towers.

Can you describe his pick technique for a mere mortal.
Not really, as I can't do it right. There's a lot ghost noting where he's strumming the rhythm whilst letting the required notes 'speak' through. It's a lot like funk rhythm guitar as far as I can tell. Looks simple, but then again the hardest things often do.

This. If it ain't broke, fling it from an upstairs window, that should do it.
