The picture on the BBC looks like it’s been badly photoshopped for some reason, not the bass, the guys left hand. Maybe it’s just my brain playing tricks, but it looks wrong.

I love those Big Singles. I had an SR1605 and when I first played it at a gig, where I was plainly digging in a bit more, I initially wondered where the glorious, raunchy sound was coming from and it took a little while to realise it was me. It was a really nice bass but, at the time, I found the body a bit small for me. Nowadays, with my playing more short scales, it wouldn’t be an issue at all, although I still don’t like the gold hardware.
