1. And a new caps lock key. His appears stuck. Did they really make Epiphones in Korea in the early 70s?
2. Owner says he found this at a car boot sale. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GIBSON-VIOLIN-SOLID-...=item4a9fd91aa4
3. Ta muchly. Brand new "Antoria" bass. Has someone purchased the brand? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Antoria-Cosmos-Bass-...=item4a9fd90905

If it is anything like mine it will be the mutts.
And another MIJ Washburn. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Vintage-Washbur...=item414e6d2d84 How much are these worth? I have no idea if these prices are cheap, middling, expensive, or "That German Guy".
5. Over on other forums, people keep on mentioning the USA made Peavey basses as being absolutely bargains second hand. Do they turn up here in the UK? If so, for what prices? And are they as good as they are rumoured to be?
6. I played a bit of bass in the late 70s as a schoolboy. My first bass was an unbranded Precision Bass copy which I bought from a pawn shop with my paper round money. In an attempt to get the action down, I took the neck off, and put a spacer of about a 1/4" piece of wood in the neck pocket, having drilled holes through it. It still had high action. It also died during a public performance with the school orchestra. More recently I tried out a unmemorably branded precision bass that was on sale in a shop for £100 or so. Not that I'd claim to know, but it seemed to play all right. But, it was so light that I have a vague suspicion that the body was a sandwich with balsawood in the middle. I could hold it with two fingers and swing it around no problem, and this was a full sized PB with a maple (seemingly) neck.
7. Fretless Thorsound bass, pickup only in Newcastle. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Aria-Pro-II-Tho...=item2eac2c9a19
8. Another name for the Monkey Pod tree is the "Rain Tree". Strange that they didn't use that one.
9. Is this too recent to qualify for this thread? Looks interesting. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MIJ-GRECO-VBS-1200-O...=item3a595a28ea

11. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SPEAR-FLEXTOOL-4-STR...=item1e5b355cb5 A local p*wn shop is selling one of these for £250, down from £279 or something. Will be interesting to see what this one goes for. Spear basses seem to lack resale value. This one is relisted after failing to get bids. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SPEAR-4-STRING-BASS-...=item20b034f62b

13. I'm not too au fait with prices of USA Precision basses, but isn't this a fairly competitive price? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-USA-PRECISION...=item3efe617b76 I'm sure I've seen someone trying to sell a Mexican Fender (albeit a Jazz) for more than this.
14. Listing is now "ended". Is that because someone reported the listing, or because someone paid £130 for a second hand Westfield? I thought that when listings were reported and cancelled, that they disappear altogether. I find it really annoying that on certain forums (HC *cough*) people seem to say that it doesn't matter how many times sellers say "I'M SELLING MY FENDER BASS" "THIS IS A FENDER BASS" provided that somewhere way down in the listing it says "oh, by the way, this is a copy".
15.
Kay £36 and just under a day to go !!
I do like neck through instruments with natural finishes.
16.
Fully renovated from a 1980s bass using genuine Rickenbacker parts with new pickups, bridge and machine heads. Classic shape bass guitar with the unmistakable sustain and treble you only get from a Rickenbacker. Very good condition. There is a small chip to the top of the Large curve and also the small curve. There is a Green line about 2.1/2 " on the bottom of the back of the guitar.
How can that Precision pickup be a "genuine Rickenbacker part"?
17. I do like the look of the Kay. I don't remember seeing any Thunder IIs selling. But the only completed listing on ebay was a sale for £218 for a black fretless one. I'll be watching and learning for this one.
18. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WESTBURY-TRACK-2-BAS...=item27b0899a5b Westbury Track 2 bass. One of these failed to sell (twice) @£150. This one is up for £295.
19. And along comes another one at (currently) less than 1/7th of the price. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westone-Thunder-II-B...=item1e5b2bb159 This is PJ, rather than double P though.
20. Not only three basses and an amp, but they're left handed. Surely that cuts the massive market for three basses and an amp down to approximately one quarter of the size it would be for three right handed basses and an amp. I've got a vague feeling that I once saw two basses sold as a pair. Identical except that one was LH and the other RH.
21. Thunder 1 bass. Interesting grain on this. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WESTONE-THUNDER-1-A-...=item27b07a4a1f
22.
Couldnt find the Rickenfaker thread but have seen a few of those on here.. its all new to me. Its just luck that I was never duped into buying one at full price!
The Rickenfaker thread should be very close to this one. Sticky at the top of this Ebay Links forum.
23. Thanks Jon. I was thinking that mine had gold knobs like this 70's artist guitar on ebay right now But looking back and forward between the 2626b black knobs and these gold ones, I'm no longer confident!
Not always. Currently own a '79 BB1000 finished in natural, and clearly stamped Made in Japan on the reverse of the headstock. Think it's the case that at some point in '84 Yamaha established production facilities in Taiwan, and thereafter moved production of certain models outside of Japan.
Thanks. I hadn't really noticed these instruments before, but looking around, they seem very popular.
24. Yamaha BB1200. A quick google suggests that this is MIJ, while the BB1000 is made in Taiwan. But, a quick google does not always reveal the truth! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Yamaha-BB120...=item1e5b1ab6ca The same google shows that Hookys6stringbass, of this forum, seems to own three of them. I'm assuming that he can confirm!
25.
When I was a teenager I played bass. I had an Ibanez Artist bass. When I looked to see what one was worth, I only found one on sale, being sold by (as others describe him) "That German w***er" for £800! That doesn't set market value as that guy sells all sorts of stuff for unbelievably high prices. Or, "attempts to sell", I should say. However, I found a post where someone in the US had bought one for US$500 and considered that a notable bargain.
I'm sure it was last year I first spotted that the German guy was trying to sell one of the Ibanez Artist Basses. Not quite the same model, I think mine had four knobs. He's still trying to sell it. At £865. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1978-IBANEZ-ARTIST-B...=item1c10e51a04 Edit: Would these instruments have been made in the Fujigen factory?
