  1. Managed to snaffle a used Bassman 100T after selling my first one due to size and weight. Now I have a car again, I thought I'd indulge in the valves once more!

What a glorious bit of kit it is. It really sings and the drive is very versatile. Even on 1/4 power, it pushes out decent volume; I can't wait to try it at the next rehearsal. Quite a different beast to the GK in overall character and the overdrive, both with their benefits.

The EQ, with its push/pull bass and treble pots, is really useful and you can get that scooped sound pretty easily.

Now the question is "can I justify keeping the GK?" Might have to grab another cab and try both at the same time.....

  2. They're stuck on, not screwed. I bought an ex-demo model from Polar UK so I don't know if they were packaged separately or come affixed. Might be worth asking the guys at Polar as they are the main GK distributor in the UK.

I'd be interested in this. GuitarGuitar, GAK, Anderton's, etc all have the nut width as 38mm, but the Fender website says wider at 41.3mm. I'm sure Fender know best, but it'd be good to have a definitive answer (why on Earth the retailers are quoting narrower is beyond me; lazy cut and paste?)

I agree, quite frustrating! Photos just uploaded.

  4. Yes, really easy. The connections are simply 'slot in'.  One thing to bear in mind is making sure the body routing is wide enough to accept the connectors (around 4mm I think) else you have to either widen the rout or cut off and re-wire the connectors once threaded through from pickup gap to the control cavity.

I'm hoping we might get some of this in the planned video with drive/distortion examples. You'd expect them to sound as painfully fizzy with the HF driver on full as they would through the DI. I'm interested to see what the BB2 with the HF driver partially on has to offer beyond what the SC can already do.

Correct, in my experience. With my overdrive settings it does indeed sound fizzy via DI and likewise through the cab with HF driver fully engaged. I therefore use mine with it up set to around 25% ; it's a good blend of cab voicing with just enough high-end definition.

  6. Good choice! Got my identical bass strung with flats and fretboard dyed a bit darker.

I found the truss rod needed tightening to get the action where I wanted it (now at 1.5mm) but if you've bought used, I imagine the previous owner has sorted it.

  8. I have the ID14. I'm no expert but I think it's rather good.  Once setup the interface is blissfully easy to use. It sounds good and seems sturdily built. Note that if you want to use the Line In from an MP3 player iPad etc you'll need to go to the DI or use a mic preamp to get the appropriate signal level. I don't know if this is common to all devices or just the Audient.
