  1. BECOS IQ MINI PRO -  £SOLD

    Hi folks,

Got a bit more space on the pedalboard so not needing this mini compressor now. Lots of reviews on this, great for guitar and bass. This is a slightly older version (I think 1.2).  Can do UK postage for a few quid extra. I don't have the original box but can pack securely.

    Thanks for looking

  2. Hi all,

I'm looking to do some reconfiguration on a bass body to use Thunderbird pickups. I want to use the same measurements as on the Thunderbird for pickup spacing from the bridge, and correct distance to the neck pickup. This would be for (I think) the modern config where the two are further apart than on vintage models.

Could anyone help with this? Weirdly this info is hard to find online so far.

    Many thanks

  3. SOLD

Had this a while but it doesn't really get any use due to me sticking with amp and cab setup for gigs.

Immaculate condition with cables, plugs, box etc.

These I believe are discontinued now, and the few available new are £345 here

Not really after trades but do ask, you never know.....

    Thanks

  4. Hi all,

Fancied a change for my 2010 MIJ 62-US bass, and opted for some Mountain Lightnings from Gemini Pickups.  I sold some QPs ages ago and fancied something high output in a similar vein.  I emailed them and had a very quick and helpful response advising that these would be the best option.
A few days later and they're in.  I do have a rough sound clip comparison but I think I'll redo and tweak the heights more precisely.
As expected, the MTs - 13.6k and 17k(!) - are a bit more growly in the mids and fatter in the low end, and don't quite have the same zing as the stock ones - 7k and 7.4k.

That said, not night and day difference played through an interface and amp sim, so I'll see how they fair with a dimed valve amp at our next gig.

Well worth taking at look at this brand and they are very helpful. The Thunderbird options look rather tasty.   In some of the demos the playing is very close to the bridge which may not reflect general use, so I'd use judgement and ask for advice if you're not sure.

Also to note is how good the stock pickups are (US spec in this particular model).

I'll see if I can get a recording posted, as describing sounds in an objective manner is rather tricky.

  5. SOLD

Stone Deaf FX Q Boost - Limited Edition.

Wonderfully versatile Boost / Fuzz / OD box usable for both guitar and bass. This is from a UK company making some very impressive products; this pedal in particular was from a limited run of (I think) 500 units.  The regular ones go for £145 and the limited edition ones seem to be very rare on the used market (only one I've found is on Reverb at £200 inc the box).

Sold as seen i.e. without the original box but it does come with the extra goodies and will be securely packed for postage.

  6. SOLD

    £40

    Hi all,

Only used this at home a couple of times but is surplus to requirements.  I can post within the UK or arrange pickup in North Somerset / Bristol. Full description here:

Really great value and clean-sounding power amp, offering a cost-effective alternative to the standard brands.  Pair with a modeller and you've got a compact gig-rig in one small package.

  7. I know you haven't mentioned it but give the HX Stomp some consideration.  It really does all those things pretty well and despite having various single pedal equivalents of the effects, I come back to the Stomp as a 'one box' solution. Great especially for the casual user and you don't need to adjust via a desktop interface.   If you need the extra switches you can simply get an additional double switch box and TRS cable for about £25 or so.
Also, there are always a few on the used market and if you don't like it, you will be able to move it on for more or less what you buy it for.

  8. Hi all,

Firstly - if this is in the wrong thread, apologies!

Once again I've had a gig where I can hear my DI signal clearly via IEMs, but even with an SM57 at front of stage I could get very little of the other instruments.

Guitarist has no DI from his amp and the rather old PA I don't think has extra sends I can use; I have said regularly the PA needs upgrading and I believe this is imminent.

Given limitations of inputs to my IEM Tx and the aforementioned points, I'm trying to find a decent mic for catching all instrumentation.  It doesn't need to be crystal clear quality, just so I can get a feel of the drums, keys etc.  I'm not intending to spends loads but would consider a pricy option if it was worth it.

Any advice on options and placement welcome. I've had a look online but nothing conclusive as yet.

    Thanks

  9. SOLD

    Hi all,

Thought I'd get way more use out this than I have but sadly not.  Lots of talk about this and all the things it's capable of so I won't harp on.  Works fine and is in good condition, with velcro on the base.  It comes with power supply, jack to phone jack cable and original packaging.

Price includes basic postage in the UK.

    Cheers!

Hmm, makes me wonder about the powersupply polluting the audio out - very prevalent with USB power or if there is a laptop as the noise from the switchmode PS can get into unshielded signals. Worth unplugging everything and checking 1 by 1 as you plug back in.

I didn't know that was even a thing, thanks for pointing out! I'll try experimenting and see how we get on 👍

  11. I tried different channels and the noise followed whichever the drums were plugged into.   My buddy hadn't tried the headphone port as he was using a feed from the mixer to in-ears. I'll find out if the noise was replicated there - I think it was.

The noise wasn't dependent on particular triggers or kit presets either. It's rather odd; the noise was very much 'white noise' as opposed to ground hum or the sort of whine you get in a noisy gain-filled circuit.  I'll investigate further at the weekend....

  12. Drum kit belongs to my buddy so we can test out again at his place.  It was definitely the drums as the problem went away when the channel was muted.  I removed the guitar feed from the mixer to see if that made a difference but no luck.  I never tried unplugging the pedalboard from the wall which in retrospect, I should have thought about.

Yes, this is the issue with electronic kit - lots of control but more things to go wrong!  Will see how we get on with another session ..
