1. Firstly, I’m aware that this has been discussed ad nauseam in other threads, which is leading to my indecision and option paralysis.
I have a Barefaced BB2 (8 Ohm). Venues will be the usual smallish to medium pub /club places and ski resort open-air setup, which gives you an idea of the music played (80’s onwards rock and pop stuff for drunken ski bunny dancing etc). I’m therefore looking at GK amps.
My only real source of comparison aside from the useful commentary on BC is the GK videos and Thomman.de soundclips. The RB series do sound (very) slightly preferable to the Fusion in my opinion, but I am sceptical as to the validity of these clips for serious comparison.
So…
Are the RB series worth the extra weight for an amateur like me? I have seen an ex-demo RB1001 which seems like a good deal. The concept then would be keep my micro amp for practice.
Should I be going for the larger wattage bearing in mind it’s an 8 Ohm, not 4 Ohm cab i.e MB 800 Fusion or 1001 RB2?
I’m happy to pay a bit more and avoid faffing with wanting something different after a year.

I’m sensing the answers will tend towards: BB2 loud enough anyway, higher wattage not that noticeable, go for a Fusion 500.
and…
stop being lazy and get PMT to order both in for trials 😊

2. --- SOLD ---

PRICE DROP: £250
Selling this great little, but powerful, amp for something a bit bigger.
Really versatile, lightweight and comes with TonePrint capability, allowing easily uploaded effects to be stored.
It is a very capable amp that fits easily in a laptop case.
Comes with power cord and instructions, only a few months old.

Will deliver in the Bristol area or am happy to courier as required.

PRICE DROP: £120

Hello all,

I'm selling my Novo 24 as it's just a bit too big for what I need.
- Comes with a hard case
- Excellent condition with velcro (loops) attached plus holes for attaching power unit brackets underneath.
- A new role of velcro (hook) will be included.

The power unit pictured is obviously not included..

Postage will be about £6 or I can meet / deliver in the Bristol area.

4. I confirmed my intention to buy from Karl, and within four days the bass had arrived. Very helpful and quick to answer my questions too.

My first purchase on Basschat, and a very positive one!

5. I'd second the comment about the Aftershock. With a little tweaking, it's very versatile and can cover smooth overdrive up to Synth-like fuzz. I'm definitely a fan.
Regarding the ODB3, I found it to be quite high gain, even when dialled in low. Sending it through a Sansamp DI got the best out of it too, rather than using it in isolation.

6. Hello all,

I'm looking for a cab to pair with a 550W head, wanting clear mids and highs and can fit in my car (back seat as the boot is tiny).
I've seen and heard the Bergantino and have been most impressed, likewise with the Barefaced.

Difference in cost not a big issue; if anyone has experience with both / either I'd be keen to find out. Being quite hard to find in shops, I feel I need to research properly....

Thanks

PRICE DROP: £520 + DELIVERY

Fender Starcaster bass in natural colour, with Hagstrom hard case.

I bought this just a few months ago but really don't get the use out of it I thought I would, hence the somewhat reluctant sale.

- Thin semi-hollow offset body with bound maple top and back, and bound f-holes
- 30” short scale length
- Maple neck with “C” profile and distinctive Starcaster headstock
- 9.5”-radius maple fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo fret
- Dual Fender Wide Range humbucking bass pickups
- Four-saddle Fender High-Mass bridge

It's in mint condition, plays well and is ideal for either beginners and those with limited reach (given its short-scale dimensions) or players needing a full, well-rounded tone for rock and blues that sounds great with distortion (Royal Blood being a good example).

The case is a quality item that provides a snug fit (RRP £110). Note that Fender do not make cases for these instruments, hence the Hagstrom!

Local delivery in or near Bristol is preferable but I can DPD / UPS it at buyer cost if required.

8. ---- SOLD ----

Hello all! I'm looking to sell my recently acquired Markbass cabinet for no other reason than it doesn't fit in the boot of my new car and I'm now downsizing. Acquired recently, it is in excellent condition and would be ideal for pretty much any gig.
Photos to follow once I've returned from abroad, happy to answer any questions. New value is £650, and it's 4 Ohm.

Collection / delivery in or near Bristol is preferable but I'd be willing to DPD / UPS courier it also.
