Quick question about the V4-B, I understand the -15 dB is for active basses but is it safe to plug in an active bass into the 0 dB input
I always tend to use the 0db input with my active bass set flat , maybe a smidgen of bass boost and it never hurt any of my valve heads . The worst that happens is the that the preamp tubes overdrive a bit - oh Damn 😅

This is my go-to amp, an amazing combination of valve warmth and SS power. A total bargain at that price.

I used to own one. Nice bass tone but nowhere near enough volume to gig with on bass unless you are accompanying an acoustic act in a Coffee shop. Superb guitar amp, really rocks.
I’ve the Ashdown little bastard so I reckon it might be in that ball park volume wise. I read some of the spec and the drivers are only 25w ea. Probably not practical as a bass amp and too expensive.

Just a query about these guitar amps...i.e. the 50w 4X10 guitar combo.
I presume these were originally meant to be bass amps but were then adopted by guitarists,
The question I have is: Are the ones today useable as bass amps ?
The should sound amazing but I'm not sure of the speakers are able for an actual bass guitar.

What driver did you put in the Schroeder?
A cheap Thomann brand PA 300w driver (the “box” replacement), there’s another 15” driver positioned at right angles . Together they make 700w/4ohm. The replacement sounds good to my ears anyway

That LB looks really sexy
They're great amps and they pop up fairly regularly here around the £350 mark .

I assume this has been sold 🤷♂️

I take 2 basses and a spare amp head to every gig. Most of the time I just leave them in the car. You just never know

I’ve left the basschat marketplace . Probably was the best place to buy and sell gear but as I’m in Ireland it’s all gone very complicated dealing with UK folks . It’ll probably sort itself out , on the plus side it stops me buying stuff 🤷♂️

I watched a couple of videos and superglue seems to be the answer. I might use this ding to get the neck refinished altogether. It originally had a satin finish but from years of playing it now feels like lacquer. I’d like to get that finish back .

Just to clarify, pickups and bridges count or don't count?
I’m just making this rule up but I think the only things allowed are consumables like leads and strings . If you don’t “need” a new pickup or bridge you should try and do without 😭😆

This is something I measured earlier. This setting is:
Mellow - IN
Bass - 12 o'clock Deep - OUT
Mid - 3 o'clock Shift - IN
Treble - full Bright - IN
With my Steve Harris P is sounds huge. With the CTM-300 I'm too scared to crank the volume to full and use the gain for loudness. Even with both at about 8 o'clock it's getting too loud for the house.
But it is a subtle EQ, this has the Mellow - IN and all others OUT and then the Bass Mid and Treble at the following percentages.
I’m going to save that and try is with my CTM100, cheers

Fantastic sound, eq next to pointless but really clear powerful sound.
Also, a little heavier!
True and the mellow button scoops the sound out too much. I've run an eq pedal through the DI loop with great results. I find overall the best set up is: Mellow = off, Bass at 12 with Low button on, Mid at 3 O Clock, (doesnt really matter what mid shift you use) and Treble at 12 with high freq. 'on'. Crank up volume to almost max and use the gain to control the loudness.

Don't forget they do a line of full valve (preamp and power section) amps ranging from 30 - 300W. They sometime do once off builds of the now discontinued BTA400W and 427w small block.

Someone mentioned the new rules affecting businesses. Keeping it music business related, a friend shared this on Facebook earlier.
This is yet another of the things that makes me incredibly sad - both for the buyers of the records, and obviously the seller/artist. For these small labels it’s all about the music, they don’t have a massive turnover - probably consider themselves lucky if an album’s sales are in double figures, so losing even a handful of sales is bad news for them. This won’t be the only person that stops buying from them for this reason.
I've ordered some vinyl from UK stores and they arrived here in Ireland with no customs issues (albeit a tad late). But the whole situation is having me look further afield to other EU outlets. Which is a pity because the UK stores are fantastic and I know them. My default Amazon is now Amazon.de.

I'm definitely in this year. Last year I bought a Little Bastard and an Acoustic Aria Fretless.
I honestly have all he gear I could possibly need and then some.
Over the lockdown I've take up vinyl so that's a good outlet for my GAS.

I went to Ashdown after the 3x2 episode. Yes, twice the size and possibly twice the weight of an MB, but still manageable. And the quality of sound and controls is top notch. Plus if anything goes wrong a tin of nice biscuits will buy you a servce from a guy you can chat to. I run my MAG300 through Phil Jones 6x7 speakers and I lerv it to death.
I sent my old CTM100 over to Ashdown as its wasn't sounding great, they charges me a pittance in service cost and parts and were nearly apologetic. gents.

Oooooh, that top one in that gloss finish, but with the black hardware of the one below! That would look incredible.
I love the matt finish

Na , just trust your ears . They’re very forgiving these valve heads . The only thing that kills them is running them without a load.
