I had Genz Benz stuff in the past and I found them to be lightweight and decent sounding and cheap. I think they did a pretty good 2 * 10 combo.

I use Ashdown all the time and if you’re willing to get a head / cab you can pick up ABMs second hand at quite reasonable prices. I had an ampeg pf350 and it’s just underpowered

while I love the sound of my little bastard, it does not meet my needs as a gigging musician. It just will not get loud enough unless I put it through an 8x10. My MB500 into a 2x8 or 2x10 is just more giggable. For recording and practices, however, it is hard to beat that valvy goodness.
I actually played 2 gigs with a little bastard and a barefaced two10. One gig was with a brass jazz band out doors ! and it held up 'OK' the other was in a pub, same set up, where the landlady really didnt want us to be too loud. The guitarists were using 7 - 15W amps. Again it held up Ok with a smidgen of overdrive, which was fine. I typically use my Ashdown Spyder 550w hybrid as its a bit more portable and with way more headroom. I think I'll just use the CTM100 for rehearsal

I saw that Quilly and I can’t believe that no one bought it, if I didn’t have my V-4B I would have had it, I like my ss amps for convenience but for me the sound of valves is so nice
I think the UK import tax (B*word) uncertainty thing might have put people off as I'm based in Ireland. I just had a look at the Ashdown website and they now selling at £1499..crazy !

By the time you reduced the cab size of a 110 by dint of making a 210iso the amount of timber saved would be less weight than the extra driver. Craziness.
I suppose it was about a size statement...but a traditional 2 * 10 isn't exactly unwieldy. I don't think that series of cabs was very successful for them

I had the 210 version of that orange cab and was severely disappointed!
I wondered about these and nearly bought one, I reckon a barefaced One10 would kick its derrière .

I had my CTM100 for sale there as I already had a little bastard and was looking for a compact had. I'm glad I didn't sell in the end but there seemed to be zero interest in valve heads in the general bass community. The amp was going at a VERY reasonable price. None of my bass playing friends have any interest in tubes.
Is this a niche community ?

I had one I found it to be very loud in the mid range but a bit harsh sounding and muddy overall . I think a standard 1x12 with a tweeter would’ve sounded way better and not half the weight .

You should be able to pick up a little bastard for around £350 or less. I found one for €250 in the NL which was an absolute steal. You wont blow the doors off the place but it has decent enough poke for small sessions and they sound great.

I have struggled to sell anything on FB/Gumtree etc, but via comm sale at BassDirect, everything has gone in a couple of weeks at a price I wanted (more than FB !)
Unfortunately I'm in Ireland and there isn't really Bass specialists in Ireland like Bass Direct. There are equivalents to Gumtree but I find I end up dealing with tire kickers that basically want stuff for free.

I sold one of my basses as it was just sitting unused, A great bass and all, a Mayones Jabba 4. I'm trying to be minimalist and use the one-in, one -out rule but it's very hard to shift gear lately .

Going through some serious 5-string / Amp gas at the moment.

HI There
Selling this great amp, just need to downsize. Its been pretty much unused since its service at Ashdown Engineering in 2020. All the valves are very fresh and its ready to go. Price doesn't include shipping, I can find that out before I ship.
Point to note, I cant get a straight answer for British buyers as to import duties that may need to be paid at your end. As far as I can tell, as its made in the UK it might be exempt but I'm not 100% about that. If anyone knows please let me know. I believe there's no issues if shipping to NI.
Not much more to be said about this amp, 100W into 2/4/8 ohm taps, passive EQ. 19kg. Best suited for 4 x 10 or bigger. No Trades please, thanks for looking

Played a load of old timey jazz numbers with a 10 piece Dixieland/New Orleans band as their stand in bassist. Not my usual thing but its great to get out of your comfort zone and it was great fun and went down a storm.
Gear = Fender P bass, Ashdown Spyder, Barefaced Two10. Sounded Superb.

Count me in, I want to stop buying gear I barely use and make what I have work for me.

Just received my second Sandy from BTM guitars in Germany. I’m actually a bit in awe at the quality of the woodwork, finish and hardware. the bass wasn’t outrageously expensive at all (considerably cheaper than a stingray or US professional fender) and it has the fit and feel of a premium instrument.
I’m not into fancy wood finishes or too much glitz or crazy electronics but I really like the wood on this bass. I think the single MM pup in the sweet spot and 3 band EQ is the perfect set up. Enough versatility but not enough to cause option paralysis. It nails that stingray punch but the 3 band eq seems a lot more practical (I’ve owned a 3 band MM in the past). I had a small jam with it tonight and every note rings clear and is really well defined. Looking forward to some serious gigging with this bass.
