  1. Temporarily up for sale as I've got my eye on a Big Baby 2 which may work better for me as I'm playing more upright at the moment. Not much needs to be said about these - phenomenal cabs and light (around 17kgs I believe). This cab has the tweeter but no crossover installed. I believe it was a custom order to be used biamped. When I bought it I contacted Alex at Barefaced who reassured you could run it fine as a standard Super 12 which is what I've been doing. Comes with the roqsolid cover as photographed. A little wear to both the cab and cover but I'm pretty good condition. Local collection only I'm afraid from Teignmouth, South Devon. I may withdraw this if the cab I've got my eye on sells first. Alternatively if you want to trade a Big Baby 2 then get in touch. I may regret this! It really is a great cab!!!
  2. I've had this bass about 20 years but since I've started playing upright as well it just doesn't get used at all. In fair condition for its age with a number of dinks in the body, a small chip in the nut and the logo in the headstock has separated slightly (this has been the same with no change for as long as I've had it). It's been fitted with some form of pickup which is functional but YMMV. No case and local collection only from Teignmouth, South Devon (just south of Exeter), on this I'm afraid as I can't imagine how to ship it safely. I appreciate that decreases my market considerably so if you want to send me a hard case, wait for me to stick the bass in it then have a courier collect it we can talk about that. I've no idea if I've priced this fairly and I'm always hopeful someone round here will point it out to me on PM if not. Thanks for looking.
  3. A bit of interest but nothing concrete so I'm going to be either brave or stupid and try my chances on eBay again ... Would much rather sell to someone here!
  4. Back up for sale again here after I pulled out of what seemed like a suspicious scam of a sale on eBay 😞 Would much rather sit it out and sell to someone here ...
  5. Now sold elsewhere. Thanks for all the interest.
  6. @knirirr I'm no expert and would suggest the buyer makes their own interpretation but I'd say it's an Eb neck.
  7. Apologies for bumping this early but a £1 max selling fees offer from eBay means there is a good chance I'll also end up listing it on there this weekend. Wanted to flag it on here as would much rather sell to someone 'local' to this community.
  8. @lozkerr Thanks - I'll bear that in mind but I'm afraid for now I'm going to hang out for a collection. I've seen first hand what couriers did with these last time they were sent and without a hard case or some very thick cardboard it would make me nervous. I don't have an easy source to any thick packaging materials either I'm afraid.
  9. I should add they also offered to send me the control panel front for the cost of postage. I could be the better option. But I'm going to try and put it through its paces a little this week then decide.
  10. 🙂 You see why I'm keen for the offer of a refurb. @wateroftyne I'd already thought this regarding customs. I presume there's some way it gets marked as going out so it's allowed to come back in but I'll check. It's bad enough paying the extortionate 'handling fee'.
  11. The Clarus 2 is essentially the same head as in my Coda isn't it? Happy to shoot some video of the range on the tone controls etc if it helps. Sounds like you have almost the opposite opinion of their service to me! Sure it's a PITA to send my head back to the US but not being the original owner of expected to pay dearly for the privilege.
  12. @Happy Jack Did you make a decision on this? I've just picked up a Coda+ which at some point has taken a tumble and the faceplate on the head has bent out. I contacted AI to enquire how easy they felt it would be to bend back and they've replied that it would be covered under warranty and I should send it to them for repair. I've made it clear I'm not the original owner but that doesn't seem to matter. They seem happy if I send it back and they'll refurb it under warranty. The only slight downside is they've quoted $75 each way for shipping. I picked up the amp at a pretty good price so I'm tempted. Have you ever sent your amp back to them for servicing? Just wondering if your not keen for cost/risk of couriering or something else.
  13. Thanks - I'd hoped I'd priced fairly to sell but appreciate its no longer holiday season and we're a fair bit south. I'll leave it up here for another night to see if there are any nibbles then stick it up elsewhere.
  14. Stagg 3/4 size EUB which I picked up a couple of years ago like a few others on here. I don't recall the exact price I paid but I think it was around the advertised price - if I'm wrong please PM and I'll update accordingly. I'd like to pass this on for the same money I paid for it. First up, the bad points ... I'm pretty sure these were ex music service stock and as such had a hard life. It's missing one body rest. The preamp has had some abuse and both pots don't stop anymore - they continually turn. I also don't think the volume works. There is plenty of chat on talk bass of a simple job you can do to take out the preamp with a single cut on the circuit board which apparently sounds better anyway. I always planned to do this but never quite got there. You may want to do that to circumvent these problems. That said - its functional in that it passes sound through to your amp. I've never used the headphone or MP3 sockets so can't comment on those. Assume they don't work and be delighted if they do 🙂 Otherwise the body and neck are in fair condition with one dink in the body which I've photographed. Plenty of swirls on the body - again, assume this is well used. The strings are some old/new generic stagg or otherwise strings I picked up from somewhere. They're not great to be honest but they're clean and a lot better than the ones that came on it. You'll probably want to switch them out for something better but they work and they're not completely dead. I've gigged this without issues and it was the start of my double bass adventures. Comes with the case and the single body rest. Hopefully the description above doesn't sound too negative - I'm just trying to give an honest appraisal. It's a serviceable start into double bass and could be a good little project. Maybe needless to say, this is collection only from Teignmouth, South Devon. Others may recall tales from when these were originally sold of them arriving in splinters. I've no interest in re-enacting that.
  15. I bought this mid way through last year at the start of my double bass adventures on this forum but since having picked up an eminance EUB and an old Stentor Student 3/4 I can no longer justify keeping it. Except for one small nick it's in the same condition it came to me in (I'm not sure it ever even left the house more than once). Strung with silver slaps and a pick up installed. No case or stand with this I'm afraid as I'll be keeping them but have adjusted the price (I hope fairly) accordingly. The original ad had all the details so I'll hopefully be ok to quote that here: ++++++++++++++ These basses are made for Thomann by Hora in Romania. It's a standard 3/4 size bass but the body is only half the normal depth, so it's actually much easier to play. Top: Laminated arched spruce Back: Laminated arched maple Sides: Beech Ebony fingerboard 105cm scale length It is strung with SIlver Slaps, and comes with a J-tone Big double bass twin pickup (£44). I sanded and oiled the back of the neck to make it easier to play, which worked a treat. The fingerboard started to come away at the edges but I had it checked over by Ian Robinson (when he was based at GB Music in Bognor) and he gave it all a clean bill of health and confirmed all was secure. ++++++++++++++++++ Just to be clear - the stand and case are NOT included in this sale (I'm hanging onto those). Collection only from Teignmouth, South Devon. Feel free to msg with any questions or offers but I'm looking for a sale rather than trades.
  16. @andybassdoyle It can be a lot of fun. Basically like having 4 LS2s on your board with all sorts of other options. The HPF is great for fuzz and distortion and you can get some really mad effects using delay and reverb on loops C & D with the feedback control and changing the order. The little return/thru/mute switches allow you to change how each loop works when it's off - so you can keep reverb tails or cut it completely. It does take a bit of space though I'll concede that.
  17. That's a pretty big claim isn't it - 'fuzz of the gods'? I'm not sure if this is specifically a bass fuzz but it gives you 4 (fairly similar) types of nasty gated fuzz. The input control causes the fuzz to sputter - it works kind of like a gate. The big knob selects from the 4 fuzz variants and the other controls make subtle changes but I've no idea what they're really doing. This probably runs best with a clean blend through a LS2 or similar (or my wounded paw blender for sale in another thread) but if you like it dirty you could just stick it inline. If you need to know if takes a battery then shout and I'll whip the back off. I've always run it off a 9v supply (not included). Price includes UK postage. No money back for upsetting any gods.
  18. I've made another purchase so looking for a quicker sale and have reduced the price. Still liable to change my mind if other things sell ... Wounded paw v4 blender which basically allows you to run multiple effects loops blended with your original signal (or not). There's some neat stuff here with a high pass filter and multiple options on how each loop works (including quickly being to switch the way C & D feed into each other). I've debated letting it go or not but I'm not using effects as much at the moment and trying to rationalise so it's up for sale. That said I won't be too upset if it ends up staying! I haven't seen many of these over here in the UK. More info here - https://www.woundedpawaudio.ca/fx/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=13&zenid=cv6in8pqe8eqjn51f7eimkau90 As always - feel free to make me an offer on this as I've got my eye on something else and no offence will be taken 😉
  19. Me too but I'm sure that's because it's far harder to sneak stuff into the house with everyone at home.
  20. Fair point (ducks head back into the trenches).
  21. Without wishing to derail the thread isn't there an argument that your fingers should do the job instead of the compressor 🙄 Having planted that mine ... Tecamp Black Jag has one built in.
