Could be the truss rod is still slightly loose. Try rapping on the back of the neck with your knuckles and see if there is any sort of a rattle, you may need to take up some slack still more. I've seen this on an acoustic guitar before, and on my blue Masters bass. It has a pretty stiff neck (grapite rod reinforced), and doesn't need much tension to give the right relief.

Am I the only person on BassChat to think this is an incredibly thin premise for a "signature" bass?

Ok, I posted in this section ages ago, but applying the rule "no picture, no bass(es), g.t.f.o.", here they are, U.S. Masters EP42s, though the Lacewood one has had the neck replaced with a black lined fretless one. The original neck is something else though (birdseye), eh?

I thought that too, but I guess those are pretty much industry standard kit and you'd know what you're getting.
They (Wire) must be used to getting promoters to get that kind of stuff in for them, I suppose.

Hello everyone

A bit of an unorthodox request which we were hoping the kind-hearted musicians of Oxford might be able to help us out with.

Does anyone have any of the following kit that they'd be prepared to loan us for one evening, on 10 November? Your kit would be safely transported to and from the venue, and it'd be played by just one band at the Jericho that evening (er, Wire).

Basically, if we could find this kit to borrow, it'd mean we wouldn't need to hire it, so we can give more money to Shelter as a result. Free ticket to see Wire in the offing if anyone can help us out!

If the rosewood splinters bit, glue the bits back in before you lose them with superglue. I was told this by a luthier. After I had done mine.

If it is constructed anything like a Jack Bass (headless) it is a steel rod in an aluminium u-channel.
The usual answer would be to take the fretboard off and replace it.
I bored out the hole to the adjuster nut so that the rod assembly could be extracted, and they come out quite easily if you can grab it with something. This might not be as easy with a headed bass, as the, er, head might get in the way.
Cheap replacement neck might be the way to go...

I'd turn the active bass down a bit until it matched the passive and leave it set at that. Should stop your Demented Constipator distorting too.

I really like the sound you got there. What did you use in the way of treatment(s), if any - sounds really chunky!

Don't fanny around, just fit a passive volume control to one channel of your a/b box. Could barely be simpler.

Not one of their best known offerings (B-side of Under the Bridge 12") but it is in Wayne's World briefly, so you will have heard a bit of it.

Couldn't you just add a small cap across the single to make it a tad less bright? or a cap with a preset pot that you could hide away in the cavity somewhere, set it up how you like it and then forget?
