2. What fantastic Flight Cases.... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=122072
3.
This is how you ship a bass.
Made my day that has
4.
Hi, it seems we meet at last. I am the guy who sold you that lovely bass. Can i say that i totally didn't mean to mislead you with the sale and i might well be an inexperienced seller. I am truly sorry that you are dissapointed with the sale. This was never my intention. I have sold a few basses, posted them in their cases and this has never been an issue before. Perhaps naively i believed that the case was adequate protection. I have been a bit around the world playing bass and must be very lucky as the majority of time my basses have survived well enough in bass cases. That said, i am looking at this completely differently as you are a BC'er and not some idiot trying to rip me off. I am happy to send you £20 towards the cost of a new case. I just bought a new case for a jazz bass off of Thomann and it was £43. How does that sound?
Pm'd
5.
A hard case provides more protection than a cardboard box. The bass has turned up in described condition. I can't see what you want to seek compensation for, other than to try and rip off the seller.
I think you are missing the point, The case was included in the final sale, I would never dream of sending a bass in a cardboard box, But when I sell my basses with a hardcase / softcase, I want the item to arrive in the best possible condition, So it would be boxed & bubble wrapped to give it the best possible chance. If you bought a case on here or anywhere else for that matter and it turned up damagaged with a only a bit of sticky tape and a stamp on it, you would also be peeved
6. Was not aware this was a thread on here from from a fellow Basschatter. So now the 2 parties are out in the open. I can assure you, I am not a chancer, scammer, trying it on or any other of the derogatory remarks made against me. I have bought and sold many basses on here from fellow basschatters with never an issue, only compliments. Please follow the link for my concern I raised this evening. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=121781 I stand by what I have said.. I bought a bass with a case included. I expect it to be shipped in a suitable condition to protect both items. I had hoped we could resolve this amicably
7. Just received another Bass that I won on e-bay. What the Bass is, is not relivent for this thread other than it was not cheap. My gripe is in the way it was shipped I've cut and pasted the text from the listing, taking out any reference to the make of the bass etc. and attach some photos of how I received the bass in question.... at no time will I name the e-bayer from whom I received this from. On offer is my beautiful ****************** (check out the wood grain) in incredible condition. This bass has an amazing tonal variation *********************************. The low B sounds fantastic. I have only gigged this bass twice and would not sell it if i didn't struggle with 5 strings. This is a pro level instrument and deserves to go to a home where it will be used and appreciated. I keep getting out my ******** cos i prefer 4 strings but the ***** is at least as good as the ******in tone and has a lot more variation. I want to stress that the bass is in perfect condition because i am a very fussy instrument owner and when the bass wasn't being used it was kept in its case which is also included as i wouldn't dare ship this in a soft case. There are no dings or buckle rash - effectively you are buying a new bass. In addition i have had the bass setup by my tech guy who has put some lovely DR High Beams on and set the intonation and action perfectly. I will send to UK only and obviously would prefer pick up but am happy to post insured. The last bass i sent cost £28 to post insured. So having seen what a 'careing' instrument owner the seller was, I had no qualms in bidding on this item. What shocked me, and we are now in dispute over is..... Would you ship this expensive Pro Level bass via Parcel Force (£28.00) with just a bit of 'sticky tape' across the catches of the case ? Needless to say, the case ( a covered thin chipboard variety) arrived smashed, but thankfully the guitar is ok. I have bought & sold loads of guitars both on here, Talkbass & e-bay from the Uk, Germany & the USA and never have I seen something shipped without any form of protection. I believe I have bought a Bass with a case, not a Bass in a shipping box. The seller disagrees. Am I right in seeking compensation for a replacement case ?? Your comments would be appreciated...
8.
Can you deliver the Hohner (to Lincoln)? And for how much?
Sorry, The Hohner has been sold
9. Can I post the first gripe with these..... Changed the strings on my White one for some Rotosound Black Nylons. Looks and sounds fantastic, but the Ball Ends are too small to fit into the things on the back of the body, so they all are sticking out What a shame, but I still think it's a great Bass. btw, I took all the plastic protective covering of the pick guard and discovered it was a 3 ply jobby.... White/Black/White - really nice touch for a bass of this value, so I doubt if I will change it as you will also lose the 'R' cut out on the guard
10. My White P was waiting for me when I got home today and was out the box like a shot ! What a great little bass for the money. Had I paid 3 times the price, I dont think I would have been dissapointed. This one does need a decent set up. The string height is terrible. I think some Black Nylons would look just great against the white body & scratch plate. If anyone finds a replacement scratch plate that fits without mods, please let me know. A nice Tort would look so good. Sound wise, no complaints through the Hartke Kickback 12. Will pump it through the Markbass rig tomorrow. If anyone is dithering about getting one of these.... STOP, go get one
11. A Korean one has just turned up on flea bay in Brighton for £900.... is that yours molan ?
12. Ordered a White P :-)
13. I have one of the early German Built Aliens, built in 1991. No 009. Have never seen another German one in the 9 yrs I've owned mine. It's a cracking Bass & a joy to play. The neck profile is the same as the Thru neck Thumb bass I used to own. Mine has got Lakewood Electronics fitted. Used Korean ones do come up every so often on 'world wide e-bay' around the £800 mark. Not seen a Rock Bass one yet second hand. I also have a Takamine EG512, which although nice, is like comparing a Vintage Fender to a new Squire ( thats bound to up-set someone!!)
14. Thanks Guys for all your advise etc. It's a tough one ! Warwick Hunt raises a some very valid points. I have also searched past 'for sale' threads with no luck. I can find sales of the Korean made basses, but not a German one. I expect that, any that may still exist are in collectors hands. Dont really know what to do with it. It's wasted in my hands and rarely played. It's not the sort of guitar I'm ever going to gig with and I have a Takamine as well, should the band suddenly turn round and say we are going to put in an acoustic slot. so, 1) out of curiosity & 2) maybe I will sell it. It would be good to know a ball park figure
15. The Hohner Cricket Bat has now gone to a new home & the Fender is 'pending'. Just the Epi White SE EB3 left.. Offers ??
16. Any idea's where I can get a true valuation on a old & rare Warwick Alien Acoustic ? I say rare, as this is one of the Original German hand built ones from around 1990.

19.
omg that fender looks sexy does it have a hardcase
It dosent come with a hard case, but will gladly sort one out for you. I think this bass would look stunning with a Black Mirror Scratch Plate
