2.
Evening all... Here's some pictures of tonight's impromptu mini bass bash hosted by BassCat and attended by myself and Dood. Tea / biscuits / effects fiddling / new amp and cab playing, all jolly good. Thats some awesome photography skills!! My pictures will hopefully be added tonight.........
3. Here I Go Again by Whitesnake. Very easy!
4. I've wanted to be a guitarist since I was about 8 years old & heard Mark Knopflers solo on Sultans of Swing on the Alchemy Live album. However it was fellow Basschatter STAG that actually got me into playing bass, so thank you Stag! When on stage I would ideally like to be some kind of cross between John Paul John and Micheal Anthony - technically brilliant but mad as a brush & able to do a 10 minute "solo" after necking a bottle of Jack Daniels!
5.
I had read the original thread by Maddude. Hadn't heard of him or this Jimmy character before (mostly lurk the classifields, gear porn, basses and fx), but I genuinely felt for Jimmy's family and friends (I myself was bullied a lot when I was a younger teen and I've seen how someone's death, especially suicide, impacts all those around them). Even was on the verge of donating a few quid as well. Yeah, I feel like a bit of a mug, and/or tool now I am convinced that karma will intervene at some point in Maddude's life because of this. Kudos to the mods! As others have said, this whole situation was dealt with in a mature and professional manner, and it is certainly a comfort knowing that you guys are keeping an eye on the proceedings of this forum
+1 If I wasn't so skint myself I would have considered donating after reading the original post having been through similar as a kid. To try & scam money out of people with something as low as this is just plain sick. Well done to the mods for sorting it out though!
6. We open with Are You Gonna Go My Way until one night when I completely forgot how to play it! The song started & I just stood there with a confused look on my face while the rest of the band looked at me wondering what the hell was wrong! Ever since then I have to play the first couple of bars before we start as a reminder of how it goes as I'm paranoid about doing the same thing again!
7. Chasing Cars always goes down well. And Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Muse do a good version of this if you want to rock it up a bit).
8. I would not pay £659 for a MIM Fender! Unless it had a TV in it or something.
9. When I quit my last band I told them at the start of a rehearsal. We were talking about the next gig we had booked & I simply came out & said "It'll be my last one" then explained reasons (singer unreliable, drummer can't play drums etc). To be honest there had been a lot of tension in the band beforehand & I think they knew it was coming, after I had told them we actually had a really good rehearsal & the last gig we did was the best gig we'd ever done!! It was the best decision I've ever made as the band I'm in now are much better & we have a hell of a lot more gigs, and I managed to remain mates with the old band. My advise would be to call all three of them or do it when you're all together. Its a bit more personal than a text message or email!
10. This is an amazing looking bass. Would anyone give me £1250 for my kidney? Its 30 years old but only one careful owner!
11. Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy All Right Now - Free Basket Case - Green Day
12. I love my Precision, even though it was only a reasonably cheap Mex one it still gives off the greatest sound. And it has a mirrored scratchplate. Which is cool.
13. Thanks for all the welcomes! Oh, and Terry, sadly thats not my cat. This is my cat - She's very cute but has no muscial abiltiy. A bit like a drummer.
14. A couple of months ago my band were support gig for one of the big covers band in Norwich, and as there had been delivery problems with my new cab I was short of gear for the gig. So I obtained the bassists phone number & called him a couple of days beforehand, explained the situation & asked if he would mind me using his rig with promise of beer, and he was perfectly fine with this. I think the basic point is if you want to borrow something of someone else, ask them (and offer beer). Of course, I did then blow the other bassists rig up half way through our first song, but that's a different story........
15. Oh, and if you f*ck something up, just blame the drummer. It's probably his fault anyway.
16. Whole Lotta Love - Led Zep Aint Talkin Bout Love or Runnin With The Devil - Van Halen Supermassive Black Hole - Muse Rebel Yell - Billy Idol Whiskey In The Jar - Thin Lizzy Times Like These - Foo Fighters All pretty basic bass lines & easy to learn.
17. I've been on BC for over a year now, so I figure it's about time I introduce myself and actually post something! I've been playing for about 5 years or so, am currently in a band called Super Action Heroes (www.superactionheroes.co.uk for anyone interested) & have spent the last couple of months spending a great deal of money improving my bass set up. Still get GAS every time I look in the for sale section though.... Oh, and I like cats. In case you hadn't already figured that out from the name & the avatar.
18. This is true, we were talking about flats! I had the pleasure of a quick fiddle with this at the weekend and I can confirm it is a beauty!! Although not as good as mine as it doesn't have a mirrored scratchplate. Shiny.
19. Anyone know where I can sell a kidney so I can buy this? It's bloody gorgeous!!
