1. It's actually Phil Mitchell from east enders if you look at the name on the thread!
2. Damn I'm gonna be selling mine at some point.....this is far too cheap!!!!!!
3.
If you PM member 'beneathitall' - friend of mine called Mike - he'll probably give you a good idea. I know he has a lot of experience doing winter cruising as a bass player.
'Winter Cruising'..... sounds like rent boys for OAPs....lol
4.
Ok mate thank you - and your fee isn't reflective of the time of year (presumably based on Jake's first post that they won't pay a premium because it's Christmas)? Would you add a bit on for the festive season?
Nope.... Jake is spot on.... just because it's xmas don't expect anymore.... but as I've said in countless other threads.... It's all about selling yourself... The band I play in is probably no better than any other pro outfit but we are fantastic at PR..... it helps
5.
Crez - sorry if I'm being thick, but I'm trying to put together the info in your posts into info that I understand - I'm not being sarky/cheeky/flippant, but from what you've said, can I assume you mean £8k for the band for 8 days on the trot over Christmas/New Year with FOH and Engineer supplied? Forgive me if it seems obvious to you, but I've not been in this position before, so I'm just trying to get a better understanding of this. I don't do this for a living and the company I work for don't break for Christmas, so I would have to book the Christmas holiday off as leave and then spend it on a boat - so it has to pay.
Yes mate.... We've done cruises before (Crystal, Gills, Cruiseline etc..) and charged between 6-9k for the period, maybe slightly longer by a few days or so. 8K for the whole period. like I say, try and get them to stage it. This will depend on where they want you... Main stage - no problem as they will have an in house system... if they want you as a lounge act then you'll probably end up having to take your own gear... Let me know where your departing from though as I have some good PA contacts near most ports in the UK and Germany.
6. Hey Si..... you can use my old Tech 300w graphic head... I'm in the office (High Wycombe) as of Monday and Tuesday next week if thats any good Jay
7.
If you or know anyone who is in the musicians union, look on their web site for the going rates for ships
This is the problem with a lot of bands...... would you do this with a regular job..... see what others are being paid and then try to get the same sorta money.... It's all about marketing yourself guys come on... I've said this time and time again and people still undersell themselves.... sorry if I'm ranting about this but it's one of my pet hates...
8. well on that calculation you'd be looking at £25k for the band..... which is a lotta wonga
9. I've played places where we've had too..... oh the fun
10. 8k each.... you'll be very lucky..... no 8k for the gig... Stage it.... make sure they provide FOH, Engineer and possibly backline but that's not always that clever an option....
11. Min 8k and make sure they stage it!!
12.
Hey all. Our band have been in the studio for the first time and i want ya'll to hear a couple of the tracks. How do i host them with a clicky,i'm stumped or is it just thick. Thanks in advance.
Myspace??

16. I went from Trace to Eden (metro combo and 2 x 10 ext cab) never looked back since!!
17. You can use any regular strings on any Status bass anyway...... or you can use DBE
18. I don't think that would ever happen..... headed basses are currently much cheaper to produce.... See your in Rayleigh.... I live in Wickford.... you in a local band?
19.
I'm still put off by the thought of having to purchase 'special' strings for headless.
Aha... I buy them in bulk from Status.... Hotwires.... pretty good strings too, nice round sound, smooth feel.... and extremely good value... 5 string sets for less than £20.00
20. Headless all the way..... Once you chop you can't stop!!
21.
We didn't use the house system. Our sound guy is a complete gear head and likes to use his own wherever possible. He brought along a KV2 ES1.0. It was absolutely astonishing, and very compact.
Kool.... I've used the VHD boxes before on the outdoor festivals and that was sweet but not had a chance to hear the smaller stuff yet..... if the VHD was anything to go by then the ES should have sounded astounding!!
22. It's a Renkus Heinz SR5 system in there.... with some SR9's for good measure.... I got involved in putting this system in a while ago... great sounding room out front too...
23. The more I listen to Jamerson... makes me just wanna keep picking up my bass.... Something about his internal timing i reckon... just so natural
