6. Hi there, It's a hand-built pedal from an independent maker in Canada. Two channel always-on pedal, so one channel is always on. Hit the switch to change channels. Provides a lot of flexibility in terms of switching between passive and active basses (how I used it, but I sold my active and am just playing passives these days). The other way I used it was to drive a pedal that likes a hot signal to come alive, and then switching channels to an even hotter signal to push it even more. Now I just use another overdrive pedal for that purpose. I'm not sure how much the max boost is, but it seems to line up pretty closely with the max on a TC Spark, maybe slightly less than that. Southampton just changed their website -- it looks like he's on a production hiatus and is spending his time developing new stuff. But here's a Talkbass thread on it. Cheers
7. Cog Knightfall 66 - pre-production switchable diodes version (125£) A truly great swiss-army knife pedal that I really like, but I want to grab the new version and need to defray the costs, so this monster is up for sale. If it doesn't sell I would happily keep playing it. Features: Two independent channels with switchable diodes for each: 1 & 10 - Mosfet 2 & 9 - LED 3 & 8 - Germanium 4 & 7 - Rectifier 5 & 6 - Silicon 1-5 are right channel, 6-10 are left channel. Open to trade offers. Free shipping for each pedal inside Germany, 3-8£ inside the EU or to the UK. Shipping anywhere else to be calculated upon sale.
8. Tom answered (tanks, Tom!): "The pre-production model has a different switching mechanism than the production version. This was more expensive to implement, and the only benefit was the addition of the internal diode switching. In practice, I found that the Voice knob provided much more flexibility than the diode switching, and also that certain diode options required different enough settings of the Voice and Tone knobs to get the best out of them. For example, germanium diodes with Voice, Tone and Gain maxed and Blend fully dirty is brilliant, but then the second channel doesn't really add the flexibility of a two-channel drive like I originally intended it to be. The other limitation of the switching system in the pre-production model is it works only on a 9v supply, whereas the production model will take up to 18v for those wishing to experiment. 9. Hi Fellas, Can anyone tell me what the differences are between the old Knightfall 66 and new 66 that was just released? I assume the diode options are gone, since there's no mention of them in the press release describing the new version...anybody know? I recently acquired the old version (and it's already my favorite pedal after playing it for 3 days), but I'm just curious what changed in the new one. Thanks!
10. have a bump on me. i have one of these, i can't believe you haven't sold this yet. i've also played a lot of fenders, and this is by far the best of the bunch. good luck!!!
11. I'm in the same position as you are, testing out overdrives. A couple of recommendations: - if you have the cash flow, ordering a bunch from somewhere like Thomann, or anywhere else with a decent return policy, is not a bad way to go...this way you can a/b different pedals. - do a little research and find out what people like -- if you can get a decent deal on a popular used pedal in perfect working order, you should be able to flip it easily enough if you don't like it. i've been doing this too with good success. - there are LOTS of flavors of overdrive (dark like the bearfoot blueberry, transparent like the grizzly or barbershop, light od's without a ton of range, etc., etc.). i am personally in love with the grizzly, it can cover pretty much anything, especially when you consider that it has od AND distortion knobs. just be aware that if you play a passive bass, you might need a boost to feed into it -- i did for my precision. i can also vouch for the bearfoot über bee, although it's not as flexible as the grizzly. both are what you would call 'transparent'. the aftershock also looks pretty sick, btw... good luck navigating this rabbit hole
