Just started playing with the Teemah and I like it! Curious what the "clipping" setting is for /does i.e. Up, Center, Down

Does anyone have any recommendations. I've got a GK MB212 (2x12). I did buy a cheapish one last year, but it was so flimsy and unstable I sent it back. Looking to raise it up 12-18 inches with a slight tilt.

Without doubt the most useful feature for me on my HX effects is the pitch shift, I’ve made separate pedal boards in standard E, Eb, D and C to cover the songs we do. It has saved me getting a 5 string and/or bringing multiple basses. It does a pretty good job and nobody in the band has complained about the sound, however on longer more sustained notes there is a slight warble sometimes - not really noticeable, but it does bug me a bit and there is a particular slower song where it is more obvious. There is only a low D a couple of times so I had the idea to set the pitch shift to momentary action rather than the default latch mode so I just press the footswitch when I need low D and most of the time I’m playing with it off. Just tried it and it worked well, so thought I’d share the tip!

Is that Ricky Jervais on vocals?
-
It's a single effect, not a patch. After googling zipper noise, I think that could be it
-
haha! I'm not sure if I have effects trails on, isn't that something to do with snapshots?
-
Wondered if anyone else has seen this.... Using the kinky boost patch on the HXFX with my M Audio EX-P pedal adjusting the gain, I get distortion/crackling when I use the pedal to change the gain while a note is playing (it doesn't make the noise if the bass is silent). I wondered if it was an issue with the pedal, however I can get the same effect twiddling the boost knob, though as you can't move it quite as quickly as you can with the pedal it isn't quite as bad.

Haha, I’m slowly going off the idea!

Ah ok thanks! She is a beginner having never played the drums, but is pretty musical playing a few instruments already.

My daughter wants drums for Christmas! I don’t know much about them, but I’m assuming an e-drum kit might be a bit better from a noise level point of view. Anyone have any recommendations? I guess I’d be hoping to spend around £200, but could go a bit higher if needed.

Mine came with 2.3 And I went straight to 2.82 in one go. i couldn’t get Hx edit to connect on my work laptop, but I think it is all the security settings, so had to use another computer in the end.

I had this about a year ago, it lasted about 6 months. Fingers stiff and painful first thing in the morning, I was convinced it was arthritis. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/334923-morning-finger-stiffness/ Thankfully it seems to have gone away. I joined a new band a few months ago and have been practicing loads and still no problems. At the time of the issues I think I was trying to learn some fast stuff and was playing with far too much tension in my fingers, I’ve since forced myself to relax when playing faster stuff. Good luck!

Yeah, using pedal edit mode - that’s what I was doing previously. It was 3 clicks taking around 2-3 seconds to change the pitch.
-
That sounds really useful - I didn’t think that was possible, I know you can have 2 effects turned on with one footswitch, but didn’t know you could have them so they switch in opposition, how do you do that?
-
Yes, I started doing that at first, but then realised by having 4 identical patches/pedal boards with different tunings I would save a footswitch as I don’t need to have the pitch shift assigned to a footswitch
-
I’m still pretty new to the HXFX and effects in general, but I use it in pedal mode. I created a single board with comp, HPF, various drives etc. I then saved it into the other 3 parches and had a hidden always on pitch shift for each patch with different tuning, so I have a standard, Eb, D and C tuned board. I’m not massively into effects and could probably live without the comp/LPF/Drives, however I’ve been sucked in by the pitch shifter which means it has kind of become essential for me now.
-
To be honest, I could probably do without it and have a footswitch for a volume boost, but it’s so cheap I thought I’d get one.
-
Yes, I got an m-audio exp, a bargain at £14 and works well with the hx effects. Mainly use it for adjusting the volume - do this on the compressor block so I don’t need a separate volume block
-
Out of interest are you putting the HPF at the start or end of the chain in the helix?
-
I always think rounds sound better than flats when I’m playing at home at low volume, flats sound a bit compressed and “flat”, however the magic seems to happen when you play in a band context and they just sound really good, even with the rockier stuff
-
I switched to my jazz with flats and my sore finger was pretty much gone by Sunday morning. Stupidly got my pbass with rounds out and my finger started hurting within 10 minutes!
-
Interesting point. How steep are roll offs on the Helix? With an analogue HPF if you set at 41Hz you’d probably still be attenuating the signal a bit at 50Hz.
-
I was using a different bass last week and a few times the bottom E really seemed to over power the speaker and come out pretty weak and flabby, wondering if this would help.
-
Wow, that is a pretty dramatic difference! Definitely going to try playing with this at the next rehearsal
