"...i get the ampeg is mid heavy and have used this cab before but wondering if there's something more suited to me, needs to be able push the deep lows i need, but still have nice highs" You are describing word for word what the Bergantino NV412 is all about! Compared to an 810 or 610, the NV412 has a more extended low and top end whilst still retaining a nice mid punch. It makes your effects sound so much better, specially overdrive. distortion and fuzz....And it's loud, very, very, very loud! It weights considerably less than an 810 and it's very easy to move around. Just to clarify, I'm not saying all this because I have mine up for sale, only offering my advice because I think it's exactly what you want in a cab.
See we need a 3 way deal, I get your 4x12, 0175westwood29 gets my 8x10 and you get his 4x10 and some money moves around. You wanted a 4x10 right? No? well please
2.
Hey gang, I'm trying to build my gear up after a long time in bass stasis and I'm about 5 years behind the times. I'm looking to build up a gritty pedalboard for electro synthy dirty bass sounds. I'm running a 4003 into a green sovtek big muff with a sansamp programmable BDDI. I'm eagerly awaiting a Markbass Super Synth which I'm clearly going to spend the next week playing with. I've also got a blue box and rat knocking around. What other pedals would you recommend? Some things I'm after: [s]A good sub - i'm keeping an eye out for a meatbox[/s] (I didn't need to retile the kitchen floor anyway) A crunchy helicopter-y delay - any thoughts? More fuzz Noisy toys Cheers!
Well as an owner of a 4003 and a green Sovtek russian I recomend the following: Dod Meatbox is awesome and about as thunderous sub as you can get but I recently ordered the Mantic Beef Bag which is an exact clone of the Meatbox only without 15 years of use on it, better bypass etc so I'm excited for that to turn up. Dod FX25 Filter Mojohand 443 Analogue Filter - This is a better option than the FX25, gets the same subby tone of the filter not opening but with better construction and bypass Get some flats on the Ric just makes it such a better bass and always run the above last. Other fuzz's I'd look at is the Malekko Diabolik unless you've tried the B:Assmaster and didn't like it, else a Superfuzz or clone if you can get one. Other than that everything else fun is just a muff clone Delays I love the Subdecay Echobox but really tempted with the Endangered Audio AD4096 but you have top get something with modulation and either analog or analog sounding, that said the old digitech pds delays are great fun. Never been a big fan of trem, most of my modulation I do with modulated delays. Hope this helps
3. Oh I hear very good things about the new fender 8x10 as long as you don't get the neo version
4.
Was Tayste's PX offer still a bit too rich?
We're really far apart from each other for a trade. My first 8x10 was an Ashdown ABM 8x10 but the old one with celestions not the blueline speakers, thing is everything great till you hear better, so it was great till I got the Matamp then it sounded really boxy and undefined. The Matamp is a clone of 80's Ampeg (maybe 70's) 8x10 but with proper decent wood instead of chipboard. The Ampegs come the closest to it and would be what I would rent if touring properly again but I'd be going for VR or Heritage series over the standard CL My other 8x10 experience was Hartke XL and it's good but still too hifi for what I consider an 8x10 to be and this is then your issue when looking at brands like Markbass etc they generally have too much high end. Obviously I'm bias'd to my Matamp and am quite glad I've found a band recently it suits but given my other requirements if I was buying again I'd look at the Berg NV610 else my Matamp 2x12 kicks out enough volume for me but its got the insanely powerful GT200 MK2 on top of it. Also as a word of advice with an 8x10 buy used, they are hard to sell and generally only a bit more than their 4x10 counterpart so if you're getting one you want to loose as little on it as possible and be committed to the fact you're going to use it for years, I think I've had mine for 5 and it is still the best bass tone I've ever had (think guitarist stood infront of 2 4x12's) you don't grow up wanting a stack of high efficiency 1x12's behind you More than just a cab it's a feeling
5. Bought 2 of these that will arrive this week Thinking PT Nano with Polytune, 2x iStomp and then something like a Mantic Beefbag or Dod FX10 for those fun bass boost moments I love so much.
6. I'll take this PM paypal details. Cheers
7. I've not, I mainly use it through the B-15 and it sounds beautiful, I did use Happyjack's Baby Bass through his Matamp and it was what sold me on getting one myself. Defo worth a try, just keep it fairly clean and it will sound nice Additionally strings are sold
8. Got these on my Kk Baby Bass and decided I prefer the gut like strings I got recently off Clarky Full 4 string set in good condition. Open to offers Can post pics of the strings if that's what people do, else they look like wire
9. I'd be interested in a part ex for your Orange cab
10. Head now sold Cab available for £175 or nearest offer. Cheers
11. Front ported Sounds very dark and thumpy it's a very big sounding cab not a big sound cab for its size or any of those caveats just a big sounding cab full stop pairing it with my b-15 is something to behold
12. Bump for Santa's favourite cab
13. Hi, Cab weighs 17kg and 400w at 8ohms
14. Head sold pending collection and payment Cab still available £175 Cheers
15. Had one and it's a lovely sound but overkill unless you're in a touring act. I'd roll with the Radial JDI, it's better known in sound engineer circles and it's a just a clean passive DI box.
16. Bump I have an offer on the cab if someone is interested in just the head?
17.
Ha, that was quick!
Well I'm about to pull the trigger on one (Well January) so always worth putting that out there
