Really interested to try one. It’s exactly the sort of thing I excitedly buy and never use 😅

Honestly I think my favourite thing about this is the tuner on the side and the fact you can use it and activate it without getting your phone out.

As of 2 days ago, 10 new bass amps, cabs and 2 overdrives added 🙄
I still wouldn’t pick this over a Katana Go or one of the new Zoom Stomps (depending on if you need practice or you need a live setup)
But will always love the idea of a tiny portable tone brain.

So. One month since we’ve finally reunited with my first (and so far the only) Serek.
10 gigs in 10 cities with an audience of roughly 4000 people in total. 10 rehearsals and a few dozen hours of practice. I think I have a proper opinion re.the bass’ durability, pros and cons.Well, the bass is durable alright. The finish albeit rather rustic (see below) is sturdy enough.
The hardware works as it should. The gig-bag is not perfect (see below) but it works well. It saved the bass from the harsh loading and unloading on buses, cars, trains, hotels, station premises, lockers etc. Saved if from a few more than likely bumps and bruises.
Cons.
The body finish looks a bit amateurish up-close. Strong DIY vibes. The color is spot-on though. And a few feet away it looks fine. I personally don’t like the texture contrast between the stripes and the main finish: how it feels to the touch under my elbow. But it works and it’s rather durable.
The neck heel plate is horrible. Just an unfinished square of sheet metal with rough edges. It will ruin the insides of the gig-bag one day. And it was hard on my clothes as well.
The pickup is rocking a bit inside the pickguard. And it’s unprotected: I had to rest my finger directly on the blades. I guess one day the perspiration will get through them to the coils and kill them. Rather unsustainable.
The gig-bag is nice in the pictures. Looks almost like a Mono. But in reality it’s a rather budget Chinese product: the quality of zipper seams and straps is not very high. The pocket is poorly designed and struggles to hold even the basic necessities (strap, cord, rag), the neck cushion is crooked. But again, it works.(turned out to be) not a con.
The presumably silly built-in fuzz circuit is surprisingly useful. And the rather radical switching between the full tone and tone cup is amazingly practical in real life situations. I got used to it and will not change it to the stacked vol-tone (as previously planned) until it’s broken. The purchased parts are going to wait for now.Pros.
The sound. It’s there. The stock rounds are fine. But I changed to Dunlop flatwounds right away and never looked back (well, actually the G string just popped and I had to change to a spare Pyramid Gold. the latter is awful but Dunlop just do not ship single strings and they just do not care about such complaints
). After the swap - it’s just the sound from my head. I can’t put my finger on it. It’s just right. Sits perfectly in our rather motley alt-country mix. It’s different from my preferred P-bass tone. But it works in the similar manner by being both unobtrusive but always present and fundamental, and by firmly moving the whole band in the right direction.
The ergonomics. Although geometrically the shortest one from my stable, this bass doesn’t feel small. The body is shaped in such a weird off-set way that it feels like a full-size instrument. The upper frets reach is even better than on most of my “traditional” full-scale basses. And the balance is strange but somehow works properly: you may swear that you feel the neck dive but in reality there isn’t any. A rather uncanny feeling that goes away after a few hours of play.
Overall, the bass feels to be meticulously designed by a rigorous engineer. A lot of thought went into this design. Heck, even the lower Dunlop strap lock once connected forms a firm standing base together with the lower bout of the bass’ body.
The neck feels and looks fantastic! Now, this is probably the best part of the instrument. I like everything about this neck: back shape, radius, how it feels in the hand, how the wood looks and the shade of it.
It looks tasty and feels sublime.
The color scheme is beautiful. It came right from my dreams and I’m happy that I didn’t pull the trigger on the earlier batches. The quality of plastic parts is on the highest level.Conclusion.
A unique instrument with rather appealing vibes despite all the quirks.
I will definitely keep my eyes open for another Serek.
Preferably a Midwestern with a single B-90.Thanks for reading!

I imagine it’s not the OP’s auction, I’m just adding another page to the story and we all get to see a lovely sunburst 70s P

I wouldn’t contemplate trying to hack into something I could use live, but for practice it’s ideal. Excited to have time again tonight to practice.

Have any of you delighted new owners also had Nux Mighty Plugs and feel it's enough of a step up to make it worth buying? Having a few effects is nice but the main purpose is simply as a practice device.
Significant step up, sound quality is much better, tuner on the device and there is an octaver (2 even)Clean sound is great. Fx’s are good enough for when I practice and as above there are octavers.
I won’t have to break out any of my pedals for practice now.

I’m hoping it’s better than the Nux, mine has dispatched and will be with me tomorrow. Even got a bass with me to test it.

Open to offers, not using this currently. Trades always of interest

I couldn’t decide what to keep so I’ve listed my 3 not main basses and will let the market decide.
For this crowd

3 of 3 to be listed (will keep the last to sell)
Walnut thru and thru with their awesome B90 pickup and a dummy coil under the pickguard, push/pull on the tone know to activate it. Bought from Si Poulton earlier this year and I’ve barely had chance to play it since.
This is an incredible bass, the lightest I own, the best sounding I own and the most versatile, just an absolutely stunning instrument. Currently strung with La Bella rounds, will come with a spare set of those and a set of Dunlop flats. Has the older Levy’s Serek branded case.
I travel a fair bit so am happy to get this bass pretty much anywhere in Europe, else also happy to post, for an extra fee I can include a Gruv Gear Kapsule and then it’s safe to transport or ship anywhere in the world.
This is the bass I’m hoping will be last to sell and I get to keep it 😇

PRICED AT £950 without gigbag (because I don’t think anyone reads all of a post)
Else price is £1100 with a Gruvgear Kapsulite
2 of 3 to be listed
Going to keep the 1 that is left
Great condition Mexican made Fender Pawn Shop mustang, absolute monster output on it.
Can be heard here:
Comes with a Gruv Gear Kapsulite case, open to offers without the case to reduce the price but without it I don’t have a way to ship it comfortably
Strung with d’addario chromes and a nice low action, fitted with Schaller strap locks.

1 of 3 basses that are listed and I’ll keep the last 1 to sell.
Bought recently to be my travel bass (a more simplified ric) but due to the long waiting times on a Gruv Gear Kapsule I’ve reconsidered and am just thinking of continuing to travel with the either my Mustang or Serek and the Kapsule I already have that fits them (they will both be listed in the next few weeks).
Rickenbacker 1973 (March) in Jet Glory. Rare model with single pick up which was first famously first used in the UK by John Entwistle in the 60’s. No frills design, fantastic player. Dual truss rods work perfectly and the action is set low.
This is one punchy bass with all the Rickenbacker bass growl. The Jetglo finish is ageing well, slight crazing appearing, some marks to the body and rash to the rear. Good condition (for a 50 year old bass) with some buckle rash on the back. When I got it was missing the screws for the string mute, but on these older models these are interchangeable with the strap pins. So they’ve been moved to the bridge and I’ve added some Schaller straplocks as the strap pins.I’ve restrung it with D’addario chromes
Weight from the shop listing is 8lb 7oz and it will come with a Mono Sleeve in Grey (not the non ric case shown that I decided not to take when I bought it)

I cancelled my order with gear4music as I had a Gruv Gear Kapsule I’m not going to bother with now holding up the order.
Re-ordered the last one on Amazon and should be here Tuesday.

Well I bought it so you have that proof.
Sadly got lost in the post but that was my fault for not going to collect it from the sorting office in a timely fashion.

Does anyone know if this will fit into the recessed jack socket on an Ibanez Soundgear? I am envisioning some interference between the unit and the body of the bass.
Worst case just get a small male to female 1/4 patch cable and run it a bit away from the bass.

I still want to hear a comparison or something where someone goes "yeah it sounds better"
It’s got USB C and easier to use foot buttons, as long as it doesn’t sound worse 😅 I’m good

I’m leaning the 70CDR+ just rather have the weird fx over the amp sims.
But it’s all a great set of improvements over the older model (of which I have 3 😅)
-
As far as I know it’s the p1 in a pedal format.
So it’s ok, better than the p2 that has no bass fx what so ever. Don’t think it has any octave or synth sounds.
I gave up on Mooer with the discrepancies between products, utter lack of documentation or response to any questions.
Zoom ms70cdr+ is at the forefront of my small multi wants currently.
Once my Katana Go arrives I doubt I’ll look at anything mooer or nux have on offer ever again.

Gear4music but I ordered it with a gruv gear kapsule that shows delivery at some point in April.
I’m in Casablanca for most of April so it’ll arrive when it arrives 🤷🏻♂️
Probably be out of stock as soon as my kapsule is in stock 😅

I ordered one but won’t have it until May, everything I’m reading says it much better than the NUX
