Japanese and US Fenders, bought secondhand, hold their value. Are they the best basses out there, probably not but have brand recognition.

I'm a new convert to G&L basses but they aren't popular (who knows why?)and are difficult to sell on.

Bouht a G&L Tribute, brand new (1500 model I think, not sure) about five years ago for 250 quid, bloke won it in a raffle!  Incredible value for money and so versatile...............my pal took it and said he wasn't giving it back!  He paid me about six months later under a threat of violence!  Joking!  He said he didn't want to part with it.

FWIW (not much) I would have bought a Big Al, if I could have afforded it :(

Seems these latest prices continue to mean I won't be buying a (new) EBMM any time soon.  We're talking multiples of what my car cost here - I'm clearly not their target market :D

Just bought a 2015 Big Al, picked it up yesterday in Cardiff, A1 nick, inc OHSC, first time played today......wow.  What a bass, superb, well impressed

Lots to think about. Thanks for all the input so far guys.

Contact me if you want to try a few out, happy to help.  Used Sandbergs is a great shout, quality, great sund, hold their value and superb build.  I have two.  Also have a couple of Musicmans, a couple of Shukers, BB1100s, Ovation Magnum and fortunate to have a few more.  PM me and come and try, happy to help........and enjoy.......

Note that a tuning peg tension tool is worth it's weight in gold. I'd love to have both it and the proper truss rod tool. (I have modified various sockets to fit, but they are still not quite right as they need to be both long and very thin-walled.)

Thank you, much appreciated as ever, great support and very valued

Eeek! I've set up loads of guitars and basses. Then I saw him say snug up the neck screws. Picked up my Jaguar SS and the two bridge end screws both took a half-turn. There was a creak as the neck snugged into its pocket 😨

Easily done............also turning the screws are what makes me a tad anxious..........not to overtighten.......
