The one bass I have bought from Guitar Guitar arrived perfectly set up (for me), but I can’t say more than that. I’ve also dropped in unannounced at Peach Guitars and asked to try a few basses that I knew they had in stock and they were also spot on. All this may have been luck of course. To be fair, I expect to carry out a set up when any new (to me) arrives at Hackenbacker Towers. That’s half the fun of getting a new bass isn’t it?
Set up and clean the neck, frets, etc on my Kramer Duke just last week....................

I've got two Seis and a Hohner B2AV, and a MihaDo Fingybass. I've had a Status and a B2 before them. They're lighter than the equivalent headed bass, balance better (well, can you imagine how a headed B2 would balance?), and don't have dead spots. The only disadvantages are you can't use headstock-grabbing hangers or clip-on tuners.
I intend to experiment with strap peg placement on the B2AV, I've seen an example where the strap peg was moved round from the back to the edge above the neck, equivalent to where it would be on a conventional instrument. Although I may not, as it's my back-up bass and I normally play sitting down anyway.
Post some photos please....

I got out of hospital on Monday and the EMGs were only shipped on Monday too, six weeks after I ordered them. The rest of the order arrived weeks ago, and the fret rocker has already flagged several high frets on the HB, so I can address those if I have the energy. (I’m still pretty much in hit-by-a-truck mode most of the day.)
Good luck with recovery mate

Personally, I want a bass to do one thing (or maybe two) really well. I don't want to be searching for the right sound.
If I get a Fender, I want it to sound and look like a Fender. A Fender P bass is a reference sound (and look for that matter) and if I've got one in my hands that is what I want it to sound like. The same goes for other iconic basses with 'reference' sounds, be it a jazz or a stingray, etc. If I want a different sound and feel, I will use a different type of bass.
I like that view.....simple, effective and actually sums me up! Thank you @peteb

The further away from "a sound" a bass goes the less popular it becomes. The Big Al probably sounds fantastic, if you can find your tone in amongst all the others, but who is going to bother when it looks so pug ugly?
I've heard Bongos and they sound great, but I'd never buy one because of the look. I think Musicman deserves a thumbs up for trying to move bass design into the 21st century, but as Fender have found, most bass players haven't budged an inch since 1957.
I have an Ibanez Axstar and a Yam BX1 - headless - that have similar sharp designs.......not sure if I could be bothered with so many adjustments to get a sound for me........would probably forget if I did find the right permutation! Nice bass though........see what my pal does

The girl in the video is the excellent Beth Hart. At the time she had a bad heroin habit, which I think was her primary issue rather than anorexia. She seems to have been clean for a long time and has gone on to be pretty successful (a couple of biggish albums with Joe Bonamassa among others).
This is a more recent photo (a few years ago). As you can see, she looks a lot healthier.
Saw her at the Hexagon in Reading a couple of yeasr ago.....sensational, a really personal show and a great support band. Will be going to see her again and fully recommend.
