  1. Of course with an active bass you can plug straight into the output on your bass and hey presto you have sound.

Sometimes i use 2 sets of headphones. In ears out of the phone/mp3 player whatever to get the tune, over ears into the bass to hear myself and i can play along happily, no extra expense.

Less portable but more useable is a xenys 502 mixer - bass straight in, aux in, drum machine in, other instruments in etc and you aux out into a little recorder like a Zoom H2N - all good

  2. Congrats Marshall, you will enjoy it.

You will not get a bad sound out of it, and I hope you get a sound you love.
Not sure what basses you play, but I found with me anyway it was more receptive to passive basses, that's not to say actives do not fair well, it was just little nuances

  3. DB - congrats on your purchase!!!

IMHO - i rarely used the VMT side of the circuit on the amp - the B3K sound was nice, really good and articulate, but the VMT despite supposedly being more 'vintage' i think sounded a little more squishy to me, and not quite as useable. Now it could just be me, and my ears and set up etc but the DG amp may well remove the need for using the B channel alone on the Two Notes, but i don't think (for me anyway) it will do anything to remove the A channel which is really nice as you know. The fusion modes are definitely still in play as the microtubes engine on the amp cascades things differently to how the pedal does it, it sort of sits alongside it just off parallel and not through it or with it if you get my drift.

You may find that the need for the B3K/B7K pedals you have will go from your chain and that you use the really articulate B3K with Two notes and amp EQ and the AO pedal for its different type of dirt.

You have my email, i did some home recording using the DG amp and Two notes and i am happy to send them along with the settings i used to see if its near what you want sound wise (or what you want to avoid?!) and you can work around it.

Its great fun, ultimately i did not need as much grit in the end hence the Two notes and other stuff is enough as well as a new amp.......

  4. Al, you know it makes sense to trade up.

I can confirm like the rest it will work with less than 300mA, but may not have quite as much juice, but it won't batter the pedal.

It's partly my fault, when we were going through stuff I should have calculated mA's with you.

My board comes to less that's the total of 900mA it puts out.

Still think you will properly enjoy it though Al. As you know I am a big fan!

  5. These need no introduction as to their quality, but I find i am playing cleaner and cleaner these days and do not need the grit capabilities.
Original box and foot pedal and it's in mint condition.

Happy to post at buyers expense.

Happy to answer any questions, not trades thanks.

  6. Bass:
    Sandberg MarloweDK (favourite)
    Sandberg VS4
MIM Jazz with Nordy Fat stacks and a J East Marcus Miller pre amp (newly acquired so just learning)

Pedals in order and various combinations kicked on depending on the sound I want:
    Hartke VXL
    Polytune
    MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe
    Cali76G compressor
    Two Notes LeBass

    Amp and Cab:
    PJB bass Cub
    Barefaced Supertwin
Darkglass M900 but popped this on eBay as I have a new mystery amp incoming........

  7. I get what you are saying Al, but according to Alex this has been in development since 2011, or at least been thought about.

In that time he has forged ahead with speakers as he probably thought (rightly so) he can make a huge jump and improvement in the market.
Amp as you say is compettitve, but maybe speaker success drives revenue for amp success as well as having a reputation to build on.
In his own words from a FB video, he wants to build a cab where a bass player has one for their lifetime, and only change if they want a change, not due to failure.
Sooner or later that means he can't sell any more cabs, as they don't break, so he has to make an amp to survive!

Some factual comments there, but could be speculation in my behalf.
Obviously a driven bloke, has made a difference and may make more of a difference.
I do know you are applauding him really and we may get you to take the leap of faith!

  8. If you want a Stingray for a classic sound especially Bernard Edwards get a Sub, but makes sure it's a USA one and drop a Nordstrand Vintage MM pick up in it.

    And then get the Sandy

    Job done!

I think I saw a good Ray on a Facebook selling group for about £400 which seemed good value

Apologies, that should be "You wouldn't let it lie, would you?"

Think we need to get Judge Pickles and Lister in right now to sort this........

Spin, spin, spin the wheel of justice.......

  10. Hi mate,

Welcome to the MarloweDK club, I have one to!

    It's brilliant

Check out fusion urban gig bags, I have a double version and they are pretty bombproof and should be a good in between, very easy to carry and intelligently designed, plus they are really nice people.

  11. To Follow Osiris who knows my habits all too well.

I have a Cali76G, love it, just love it. As well as compression and it's tiny bit of magic to the sound I dial in a touch of grit with the Germanium in there. Only time i twiddle (helpfully it has a massive knob for my sausage fingers) I love compression higher for a very tight punchy sound, or back it off a bit for harmonic content and evening me out, but as everyone will say, it's not an excuse to not try to nail your technique, it helps to make your nailed techie even better.
Usain Bolt trains to be fast, wearing spikes makes his footing more assured to be able to perform, that's his compressor (or not now). You don't have to wear spikes of course and Zola Budd did OK!
