I was over the moon when I met Lou Barlow at the merch table of a Sebadoh gig. I told him his style inspired me to pick up music again.

He was very nice to me. And liked my story.

Then ten minutes later he came up to me, called me by my name and introduced me to Geddy Lee’s nephew!

    I felt special.

Awesome. Love Lou’s work, top bloke.

  2. I've moved house now and I've seen the mortgage estimates.... please help me out!

All of the pedals are in at least good condition - a couple were brand new. None have been gigged, some have velcro on the bottom from previous ownership.

Pics also show boxes they came in, (some original). No PSUs.
    *Prices include UK postage*

None of the pedals play like butter, nor do they know that you already know what they are, so I'll tell you. One of them is even good for Metal!

Will take payment by Bank Transfer or paypal.

Finally found it: my Feedback thread: Feedback for Daz39 - Feedback

    1.

    Source Audio Manta: £100 (reduced)

Amazing pedal. A veritable box of mad snakes: filters - low pass, multi peak, phasery bits. Controls for speed, wave type, depth and a combo control to fiddle with drive, resonance, frequency and so forth. Presets and control input for a footpedal too. There's plenty of filter-experts here that can probably get this to make toast.

    Non-original box. (Unoriginal? Derivative?)

    2. First of the titchy pedals

Donner Jet Convolution: £15. Clone of the EHX Electric Mistress. It's really good!  No box, so I'll conjure some eclectic packaging.

    3. EHX Lumberjack. £35. Mega-Noise-Pedal. Obvs mainly one for the guitar people, but I made this into a pleasing addition to my bass: it goes from low-gain hairyness to fuzzy nonsense. Original Box.

    4. Biyang Metal-End: £20. This is err, interesting. I got it as a rather outside gamble on a pre-amp, and it's rather good.  Mid-freq as well as 3 band-eq, the Amp Simulator switch opens up the switches for amp sounds - and there's a good range of usable tones. Also very Shiny. Original Box.

    5. Yamaha QT-1 Metronome. £10. I bought this new in err, crikey. 1995. Ticks or tocks (there's a switch) and goes from the laziest of noodles to *insert extreme shredder of choice* speed. But labelled in Italian, so obviously a higher class of time. No Box.

I have supported Wilko a couple of times in times of yore.

Guitar heroes? Does playing with David Gilmour count? 😎

    We are not worthy!!

    Never played with anyone famous.

The only autograph I ever got was John Petrucci’s on my Travelcard in a Denmark St store the night after a gig (Touring into Infinity, ‘98?).

I was there for a few days in 2015 for a Rugby World Cup game between Scotland and South Africa (my 2 teams ... Scottish born but long residence in southern Africa). It was great. Friendly people, some nice pubs, a decent pedestrian area, guitar shops, easy trip to Tynemouth at the coast etc. As others have said, the centre is quite small so you can walk everywhere, and the quayside is great too. Highly recommended for a visit. Something I'm not used to (being from Africa and having lived in Germany for a long time) was the arrival of busloads of young people dressed up to the nines, who then hit the town in determined fashion. I have no idea whence they came. A few hours later many of them were staggering about or face down in the gutters. Culture shock ... but I never had any problem with anyone there.

They came from the Greater Tyneside Metroplex. Some of them might have even been Smoggies or Monkey Hangers: the only nightlife on Teesside is found beneath Redcar Pier.

  5. There used to be 8 guitar shops and 7 purveyors of hiking/outdoor gear when I was there in the late 90s.

Wednesdays involved skipping morning lectures, then climbing at the sports centre in Eldon Square, then lunch in Trillians which became stay until closing...

  6. I went to Uni there; great place. Trillians all afternoon followed by the now defunct Mayfair for a night of rocking at the weekends. Ah happy days. And the Metro is brilliant for getting around too.

I usually stick up for the Hootenanny, but this year was very sub-par. Seems like Jools can no longer attract artists.

I thought Cat Burns would have been good in the context of a normal Later, but didn't really have a 'NYE party' vibe.

Really can't see the appeal of George Ezra .

I love George’s voice, but he isn’t what I’d call versatile (yet). He’s just a great voice and a great backing band.

We watched the Sam Ryder thing and thought it was great. He somehow managed to get from Queen to Stevie Wonder via Taylor Swift and the Darkness, the whole thing was a joy to watch from start to finish. Superb band, (nice to see the bass player’s go-to 4-string was a Ricky). Turned over to Jools afterward with the inevitable Ruby Turner and the rest and got very bored very quickly. This despite enjoying the odd Hootenanny in the past. Sam’s show was unashamedly full of mainstream hits but then isn’t that kind of the point for a NYE gig?

We watched Sam Ryder too. This followed last year’s iteration with Olly Alexander (was that the first in this version? Previous years have had a gig at err the Brixton Academy?)

Yep; lots of snatches of hits, cool cameos (Justin Hawkins is always Justin Hawkins), and I did not know Sam could play guitar until he started wailing away. Great backing band. He’s got a good voice for the Swifty hits, it was far better than the GB News style indulgent claptrap of the Manford and Chums show before.
