So I'm getting a Bass Microsynth in a few days and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on whether a synth pedal like this would work better before or after a Boss OC2. I know it's all about personal preference so I'll be trying both ways round but thought I'd get some opinions as well. Cheers

My power supply just blew up. Sparks out the plug socket etc... The plug socket is working fine and so are all the pedals, it's isolated to the power supply. I've contacted the seller. This wouldn't be because I was running the tuner (and another boss pedal off the tuner) from the 500mA output would it....

Yeah I mean, I read through the whole thread and downloaded the links but my problem is that I'm at the very beginnings of learning to read. Whereas this seems to start from a point of someone who has already been taught the basics and is now practicing what they know.
Which might come in handy at another point, cheers

Yeah I did have a few guitar lessons years ago from a family friend and we scratched the surface of reading but I don't remember any of it, I'm sure he'd be able to teach me some stuff if I got in touch again.

Either I'm looking at the wrong thing but Session 1 includes two files. One is sheet music and one is a track... The whole point is that I can't read yet, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to progress from there...

Thanks for the links, however I seem unable to open the files he's included as they are .ipb format. not sure what that is.

I've been playing bass (and guitar) for about 6 or 7 years now. I'm 99% self taught and I've gotten to a point where I'm technically pretty proficient but I feel like my lack of theory knowledge or ability to read is something I should try and improve, especially as I've been learning a lot of jazzy stuff lately. I know chords and some of the major/minor type stuff that you just pick up through playing.
Anyone got any advice or tips to someone in my position? where would be a good starting point? Thanks!

Got a Little Big Muff here from around 1980.
Been modded in the 90s to use a standard Boss style 9v input. (see pics)
Few scratches on the surface but fully functional, this is the condition I bought it in.

Collection or meet up ideal in Beds/Herts/London area but can post at buyer's expense.

Thanks! Do you know of any other LPFs with exp input? Had a browse and not seeing too many. I'm assuming a Crybaby or similar Wah wouldn't have the same effect?

If you're wanting synth, I'd suggest going down the route of either a pedal that says synth on it (or maybe the pigtronix mothership), or look at getting a few pedals to make a synth filter section (like octaver, dirt, LPF like the moog mf101 & so on).

Yeah I was aware of that actually, and I've seen your video already while scouring for demos !
The modular route is actually what I'm doing now and I'm getting some really cool synth tones with octave, various dirts, EQ, chorus and tremolo in sections, I'm just looking for something now that will allow me to create oscillation/'wubs'. Do you recommend a LPF for that perhaps?

So I've done some more research, the SYB5 isn't quite what I'm after..
I'm after something a bit less in your face which can create a rounder type thing I'm after, IE: the track below. The 'wubs' created in the bassline are done with an expression pedal. He has a Moogerfooger Bass MuRF but he also had a Pod HD500X so I'm not sure which is being controlled.

My friends needed a bass player to jam with. I already played guitar a bit so just hopped on and picked up some basics. Over the years I've practised both fairly equally but I'm definitely a bass player at heart.

I've been looking into getting a synth pedal of some sort that has an expression input, the Moogerfooger MuRF looks brilliant but quite expensive..
Anyone have any suggestions of others that might suit what I'm looking for? Open to all kinds of sounds at the moment.

He was posting the videos in response to what I said, which was that I didn't know how to set my bass up on my own.
And his comments about setting up each time was just what he does, I've never done that for example.

No those are to set-up the bass, to change strings all you'll need is string cutters, and an optional would be a winder for the tuning pegs to save time.

Thanks for the links! I have a stingray, I know what needs to be done in theory, just never applied it through fear of messing the thing up haha.. Will these videos apply to a ray? (Can't check videos at the moment!)
