Finalized the shape and did some shaping of the heel. Also cut some knobs and made a pickup cover but I made a small router boo-boo. Will need to cover that up.
2. Here's mine https://soundcloud.com/organicpulseensemble/onesemble-theme I can relate to the picture as that is what I look like when making tracks, so I just did my usual thang this month
3. Paul Jackson did some singing with the headhunters when they records without herbie.

Also, here's the sidedots. The idea, to have the dots halfway visable, didn't work as well as I had thought so I added dots for frets 3, 5, 7 and 12. It works and doesn't look too bad but if I was to do it again I would try something else.

Here's the china bridge to be used I took it apart cause I wasn't crazy about the overlord of music-logo. Decided to raplace that with a bit of wood to match the fretboard. with a bit o sanding and now you're pretty much caught up

After a lot of glueing (wings not attached to the neck yet) Clamping shot! (wouldn't be a build thread without at least one)

Thought I'd share a project I've been working on as part of the winter build off challenge over at that other bass forum. The challenge was to use mainly walnut. I looked at the pile I had handy and decided to build something inspired by the wingbass concept (basically a headless 34'' bass cut off at the 12th fret). So here we go. First of, wood pile and design More puzzle pics
10. Ok, I'm in! I was going to name it "My name is Gus, I'm a fungi, call me fungus" but didn't in the end https://m.soundcloud.com/organicpulseensemble/similar-shapes
11. Thanks, yeah I think it'll be fine if I can do a bit better job of sheilding/grounding next time I take the strings off.
12. Thanks for clearing that up and thanks for the comments on the bass! The electrics is mos def one of the Achilles heels I have when it comes to building
13. Here's a 28'' scale fretless I just finished (build thread in the Build diaries section). It's called the Flea Market Funk Machine as it was made entirely out of wood from furniture found at flea markets.
14. I put this together a few days ago. I'm pretty pleased even if it's not perfect. The finishing took ages, I think it was the rosewood that presented the trouble... but it's finished and it looks pretty cool/sounds pretty good. I had some trouble with the preamp buzzing, I ended up grounding it to the strings so now it's pretty much under control but I didn't think I'd have to do that with a piezo only...? Anyway on to the too many pics portion of the post!
15. Love it it looks minimalist and flamboyant at the same time.
16. Stealth bass Undercover bass Benedict cumberbass
17. Then it was on to the sanding, but that's no fun to look at so straight to the pics of what came after, the first coat of oil. Oh yeah, and I made a truss rod cover. Classy
18. I went ahead and fixed the bridge... sort of. The way I did it gives me room for intonation adjustment should I need it.
19. Thanks Andy Yes the action is pretty much where I want it and I've triple checked the measurements (using the stewmac fret calculator). I used my fingernail to check the "frets". The scale is 28'', so 71.12 cm. I'm using long scale strings at the moment... when I made my 25'' scale bass I used regular short scale strings and had no intonation issues. Strings are brand new also...
20. So I strung it up to do some final intonation testing before installing the bridge. It's a little strange but I've got it intonating decently at around a cm longer than the anticipated scale length, anyone know why that would be? There's some neck-dive, we'll see if I can counter that with some weight-thing at the butt end. For string anchoring I'm using some drill stops
21.
Looking nice. I have 2 questions: Is it heavy? I know it's a short scale, but it looks quite thick. Will you have to take the strings off to change the battery?
Thanks all for the comments! It´s not really that heavy and it´s around 35 mm thick. And yes, I´ll have to take the strings off to change the battery... here´s hoping it doesn't need changing too often
