1. Expression pedal control for both resonance and frequency. Seems like a tough one. Maybe the line-6 m-series has a low-pass model? You can control anything with an expression pedal on these things.
2.
I find that surprising! On mine, the output jack was a bit tight at first, but it's fine now with all the leads I have used with it. Perhaps it's the Vox cable that's non-standard?
Nope. The VOX cable works on all my other basses. And even more surprisingly, the cheap RockCable patch-cables which I have, and I'm pretty sure are some sort of Warwick brand, also don't fit into this jack. I think I've read somewhere (possibly one of the user-reviews for these basses on MF or a similar site) that people have issues with these jacks and replaced them with Carvin jacks, which seem to fit well on these basses. Very very strange.
3. Ah! One strange thing is that they seem to be using non-standard output jacks. My fender guitar cables works OK, but my more expensive VOX cable seems to have plugs that are just a little too wide. Very strange...
4. Got the bass yesterday, and it's off to my favorite tech. It's extremely heavy, but seems to have excellent ergonomics. Seems very well made, but it doesn't look like they bothered to set it up very well, and it also came with "black label" Warwick strings, which AFAIU are Warwick's cheaper Chinese made strings. They don't look very good, and don't seem to sound very good (they seem to have that chorusy effect that bad string sometimes have), so I'm holding judgment of the sound until it's properly setup with new strings. The gig-bag seems to be of good quality, which I understand is a new thing for Warwick.
5. Yes, facebook would really want you to have an account... Anyway, I'm sure all relevant content will be reflected in this thread.
6.
what about those who do not have a Facebook account?
The content of the page is accessible even without an account. I'm pretty sure you won't need an account in order to by it
7. If you have some sort of multi-effect on your board (Zoom B3, MS-60B, Line-6 M5, etc) these work great and won't cost you anything (also not in pedal real-estate, which is often not less important). If you want dedicated, I'm pretty happy with my TC Polytune 2, but in hindsight I should have gone with the mini (which AFAICT, is the same only smaller and without the polyphonic mode for bass., which I never use anyway). Also very well respected is the Turbo-Tuner ST-300.
8.
just one q, can it work as a pitch to midi converter? i mean, if i plug a bass in, and then send midi out from the FI to a [s]gameboy[/s]synth, could i trigger notes on the [s]gameboy[/s]synth by playing them on bass, or does the FI just accept midi note data in?
The TB thread says no. It doesn't do bass-to-MIDI. It does have a pretty complete MIDI-to-bass implementation though (so you can plug it into a keyboard to act as the sound module)
9. I think the price is about right for a boutique pedal which puts out a pretty impressive and unique sound pallet and that has no real competition. Boss is selling their SY-300 for a lot more, and I haven't heard anything remotely similar coming out of it in any demo. Yes there are some unknowns regarding production quality and availability, but these will hopefully be out of the way after the first few batches. lokki - Do you know if this is a "limited run", or generally how they plan to make it available after the first release?
10.
ok, here are some demo sounds i programmed :-) i was just playing whatever came to my mind with the sound i had selected. was a little bit in a hurry so don't expect the greatest groove or lines or whatever....often i let the last note ring out, just so you get an idea how the sound develops and how well this thing tracks and how smoothly notes fade... https://soundcloud.c...ure-impact-demo have fun. there are some sounds that only use the bass signal and envelope filter, no synth. it should be really obvious what is what. otherwise just ask. use headphones or a good p.a. :-)
This is absolutely amazing. Huge sound pallet and everything seems to work together perfectly. This probably blows all of the other options for bass synth right out of the water AFAICT. Any chance you'll be sharing these presets?
11. AFAIK no one's ever heard it yet. On the TB thread, the creator just promised the first ever samples clip to be released within the coming week.
12. Yeah, they're not for everyone. I use them mostly for slap and I do think the improvement in sound is noticeable. I also use it for some weirder stuff when mixing a few signal chains and I need one of them to stay at a certain level while the others vary with my playing. Also check the link below for a completely different always-on approach: http://pedalsandeffects.com/boss-cs-2-my-number-one-pedal/
13. Aguilar Octamizer? (Don't have one plan to soon)
14.
You can add modulation to it using the editor and even change the tone / EQ of the verb only part of the signal.
This is interesting. Can you add a high-pass, so that only the higher frequencies get "revrebed"?
15.
Video below has it at various lengths on the mod model.
This is great stuff! Is there some sort of "shimmer" or octave-up in this? It sounds like some of the longer revrebs/sustains have this...?
16. I've been messing with reverbs (mostly on my line-6 m5) and I'm still learning this, but one thing I can say: There's a world of difference between short-time room/hall/IR reverbs that basically just give your sound some "air" and "space" and the cave/infinite/feedback reverbs that really take your sound and sort of create a whole other thing from it. While both are technically just "reverb", musically and functionally these are really two different effects.
17. Thanks! I must say that your experience is a bit disconcerting, but I already decided to take the chance (actually before I saw your post here) and ordered the GPS Corvette $$ from Thomann. I do have some general appreciation of German quality (not from basses though), and I do have the (possibly naive) expectation that at this price point quality is going to be good. Thomann does have a return policy but since I'm outside the EU, a return will still leave a hefty dent, so I'm hopeful. BTW, My bad experience with lefties was with an Ibanez, that I basically had to fix myself for more than 30% it's original price, but that now I'm relatively happy with. I'm not entirely sure it's a lefty thing, but there were some pretty weird things going on with that bass and I really don't have any other explanation. The GPS bass is a sort of present to myself for a few good career moves that I've accomplished lately (not as musician), and also I'm really hoping this Warwick $$ is going to work for me soundwise. This is also a bit of a gamble, because I generally don't like Warwicks, but I did get a chance to noodle on a CS corvette $$ a few months ago and I really liked the sounds of some of the settings. Also I've learned to appreciate how they sit in a mix. Fingers crossed then...
18.
Petty issue, but is that really the final artwork on the pedal??
I actually like the artwork. It's the kind of design that makes you stop and think...
19. Don't know much about this particular pedal, but I do have the "StealthPedal" which was a disappointment. It simply doesn't have enough input gain and it really does break the first rule of audio interfaces which is - you must give the user full control of his levels. Also I've used Amplitube quite a lot when I first started with the bass (I mostly practice at night through headphones) and I've moved on from this. All the amp-sims that I've tried seem to be all about overdriving their gain stages and while I can see why some guitards may find this useful and exciting I found it distracting and fake.
20. So... Anyone got a Warwick GPS yet and can say whether the quality justifies the price? AFAIU "GPS" means German Pro Series and it's a new thing (from 2015, or possibly 2014...?). Previously this line was made in Korea (was it called the "Pro Series" before? not sure...) and were cheaper. The german made are supposed to be higher quality... (The "RockBass" ones are still made in China as before) Anyone baught one and can say how is their quality? I'm especially interested at:

Good fretwork and neck alignment allowing for good buzz-free low action.
Well shielded and low-noise electronics.
Posting on the lefties forum because I've seen in the past (e.g with Ibanez) that lefties are sometimes constructed with lower quality than RH, so doubly suspicious about the lefty ones... Thanks!
21. I actually really like the BigMuff model on my MS-60B. Distortions are indeed meh. I don't like the octaves either, but haven't really heard one I did like yet. (Fingers crossed for the Octimizer coming at me by mail though...)
22. Some guy on TB claims he has a prototype unit, so it seems like demo sound clips can't be too far away...
23. Oh no! Not another milli-thread about this Seriously though, I'm still waiting to hear real demos, but if everything turns out as expected it may be a real treat for all us synth-lovers, especially after the seemingly general disappointment with the Boss SY-300 (though I'm still waiting for someone to actually give it a fair shot with a bass). BTW, you may want to change the title. Edit: to put the name of the pedal nearer to the beginning (didn't see it at first glance
24. a. The compression knob on most heads offers very limited control. I think this is the main reason people use pedals for this. Different people like different levels of control, but 1 knob is a bit extreme. My Keeley Comp Pro has 5 knobs and 2 switches and I don't think any of them are redundant. Many people like 2 or 3 knob versions. b. Try slapping with and without compression. The difference should be pretty obvious. Not only does the comp even out the levels, it actually changes the sound in a way that I find pleasant. If you don't hear a difference when slapping - something is wrong with the setup.
25. First question is whether you need this to be an on/off switch, or more like a volume pedal that you can control gradually. Second option is whether you want a "dirty" boost introducing overdrive/distortion into the sound, or just a clean boost giving more volume with no change to the quality of the sound. Each decision will point to a different direction...
