1. Hi! Got this earlier this week. (Will probably do an NBD later once I sit to get it set up, but overall - no - saying that it is "almost at a boutique-bass level" is a very (very) long stretch, but once you get past some of the superficialities - yes, I'm very happy with it, both as my first-ever 5-er and as a Jazz.) Now I'm having a hard time finding a gigbag/case for it. I ordered one of the cheaper Thomann hardcases, but it's too small (will probably house my Ibanez GSR200L - fits almost perfect). My Ibanez gig-bag (where the GSR used to sit) is almost a good fit, but the opposing tuning handle is just a bit too protruding. So it's sitting in my Fender "Traditional" Gigbag which (with all due respect to the glorious Fender tradition) is an insult for almost any bass. Any ideas what to get? I'm afraid that being both lefty and having this opposing tuner is going to make this search a bit problematic... Thanks!

    Rocktron Hush

I've heard bad things about this pedal, and OTOH am very happy with my ISP Decimator which only gets good reviews, but is also much more expensive. IIRC TC also came out with a noise-gate a few months ago, but I don't know anything about it. When dealing with hum/buzz, it is not at all expected that a "noise gate" (which is often incorrectly described as a noise-reduction-unit or noise-supression) will solve this. Generally it is only expected to solve noise that are coming from your pups or your pedals, and even this will not always work or be useful. You need to try figure out where the noise is coming from.
  3.
How do you like the Broughton, any info on how to order one? Looking at the Empress too, so interested to hear your thoughts
It's all happening on TB: https://www.talkbass...3#post-18162190 and if you want one you should PM 'Azure Skies' on that forum. I can add to my short review above that it can also remove some mud from the low-end, and also seems to work quite well on a 5-er. For me it's an always-on on pretty easy settings, and sometimes used to boost levels or as a very controllable and predictable tone-control (the tone-controls on most basses are too hard to set for my taste) Edit: Oh, and I most use the Empress to boost mids, so arguably a single-band EQ like the BMC could have given me similar results (more edit: but it's handy to have around, I guess) Both the Empress and the Broughton are top-quality (which in my book mean very transparent and extremely quiet)

    Pedal order
Only 4 pedals - how many do I need ?
You've come to the 'effects' forum - What did you expect? Some people here will have rooms full of them, and still go out and buy a few more :-)

    Pedal order
So Soundblox, Duality, FM then Verb ?
This would be the "canonical" way of doing this. Reasonable things to try is to switch the Duality and Soundblox, or put the FM at the beginning.
  6. TB has a mediumish thread about this
  7. RMI Sonic Spark is supposed to mostly enhance mids, but I don't know much about it, and have only seen a few demos that don't really help understand what it does.
  8.
That is quite a big flaw in a live application surely? Even if it only happens once in a blue moon, it's still a worry that is rather not have... at a gig
I actually haven't used this pedal in a while now (most of my pedalboard is alas packed in crates), but IIRC the worst that can happen is that the active parameter changes by one notch. Not a big deal for most of them.
  9. A. subbed. B. I keep finding new uses for my Empress ParaEQ. E.g. boost mids and cut low/highs for better slap-tone, or just to get a more modern "cutting" sound, or to tune my fuzz (the big-miff in my MS-60B) to sound "just right", to dial out some low-end for a less resonating E-string (that's before I got my Broughton HLPF), etc. (Personally, I've always found parametric to beat graphic, but it's a matter of taste of course)
  10. If I was in the market for such a thing I would have seriously considered the new Two-Notes LeBass. The few video demos of it that I heard are killers.
  11. If price is not an issue - check out Fractal Audio stuff. There are various opinions, but I think anyone will give it "decent"
  12. Yes, it seems to be devilishly difficult and I've been having a hard time doing this myself (with the Ditto and now with my Voicelive 3). I think part of the problem is that the timing is not really intuitive. If you try to kick it like a bass drum (exactly on the beat) it's a bit too late. But it's just a theory.
  13.
Thanks for the response. Very useful
Are these question marks? Sorry, my phrasing wasn't too clear. I meant that in the clip you posted there's more than just a synth. The player seems to be controlling some sort of filter, and I'm not sure how this is done. I'm actually not sure in at least two ways:

The filter control seems to shift pretty rapidly. I'm not sure you can do this with an expression pedal. Maybe you can with a bit of practice. I've seen people do some similar things with a hot-hand (google "Nathan Navarro hot hand" and skip to the parts where he wiggles his right arm a lot)
Even when you do get the control part figured out - I'm not sure how you would feed this into the FI. It's supposed to respond to expression-pedal CC via MIDI, but I've never tried it and I'm not even sure this is implemented in the current firmware and/or whether it is "wired" to control the right parameter.
Hope this is clearer (?? ;-)
  14.
Hi Future Impact owners! I'm starting to think that this pedal might me just what I'm after; please can you have a listen to this track and let me know whether the FI gets into this territory? Bass line starts around 0:36 and builds from there https://m.soundcloud.../soul-brother-1 Much obliged..
I'm pretty sure it can do this sound, but not too sure about the way the filter is controlled. There's this "wobble" (if that's the right "word") that you'll probably need a hot-hand or an expression pedal for, and even with them I'm not sure how you'lll use them with the FI
  15. I used to practice playing Hysteria, and while I'm not really a tone-snob, and never bothered to really get "the tone" I did find a satisfactory approximation by using the Muff model and EQing up some mids (this was on an MS-60B, but I assume the models are the same)
