9.
He certainly used his stock phrases as much as the rest of us (an hour with a copy of the Parker Omnibook and a highlighter pen will prove that!!).
That is such a good book for chop practise [as well as ear training, on the old 2/5/1] In fact , a perfect xmas gift along with the Metro Gnome... Going not to well elsewhere.. Garry
 10.
He repeated himself an awful lot and anyone who has, at any point, listened to a lot of Jaco's stuff will confirm that.
I do agree with you 100%.... But then did a certain mr Parker.. Garry
 11.
Anyhoo, try loops for practice, keep time and develop "The Groove"
Thats the way to go..! Garry
 12. With Sequencer software and there cheaper cut down versions... You can easily practise with drum/chord grooves , which makes it much more interesting for the musical ear..and help give you the feel for music. [Remember...thats what its all about at the end of the day. Its very easy for Jeff Berlin to say that there is no need... But he has had over 30 years playing with Human metronomes...[Some of the best drummers] AS for not in Classical...? Whats the Guy in a Penguin suit in front of a 90 piece Orchestra doing.. Waving to his mum..? Any aid to making you into a better musician , is gotta be good for you.. Garry
 13.
Mate you should have seen the drummers we turned down! When you're making a bit of money suddenly every pro out there wants to be best mates. ). Yer some of the so called 'PRO'S' should use the money to buy a metronome.. Or maybe just buy a gnome and stay in the garden and talk about what sticks they use. Garry
 14. Maybe putting up a post...so see if anyone in your area can help you out with a Power amp and a pre amp...so you can mix and match..and perhaps isolate down to one or the other. Garry
 15. Perhaps it might be an idea to give a price... Then someone might take a chance and take it to a tech for a repair. if they think they are getting a bargain.. Garry
 16.
£40 , where was that? I want to do all of my shopping there lol
Twas Mine... Paid 50 notes secondhand for it last year... So 10 notes for a years use on a show aint bad... £90.00 for a used one seems alot. [sorry unless that was spanking new and boxed] Garry
 17.
This advert is a few months old, I sold the SWR, I am looking at getting something else though, so can get photo's if you are interested.
Pics would be nice Garry
 18.
Garry, do the cabs have link sockets on the back?
Steve.... No..for some reason just the one socket... Garry
 19.
Shadows and Light - with the exception of that bloody awful bass solo that he did, verbatim, in about every show of his I've heard - is Jaco at his best, fitting in with the band rather than dominating it, playing melodic bass under the vocal rather than overly complex lines in competition, and producing a tone with relatively crude equipment that is still for me the definitive fretless sound. Although I recognised the technical brilliance of his first album, and a lot of his WR stuff, to me it wasn't musically exceptional; Shadows and Light was the pinnacle of his musicality. Chris
Must agree with all that.... Interestingly...I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago , an article from Jeff Berlin about Jaco.. Not been a Natural soloist [in JB's opion] But all his Solo's and playing where pre-composed.. I think Mr Berlin should have a listen [or another listen] to the above... It is Jaco at his best [and un pre-composed].. I still love 'Come on over' with Sam & Dave..I bet that inspired the Bass line for 'Hit me''Hit me' Garry
 20.
Wow, this is being conclusive. My punchiest bass is a peavey 5-string with through body stinging, big heavy body and passive humbuckers. Taperwound strings might be a factor in this case. Think my pre butchered Westone Thunder will get the punch experiment treatment. Once I have a neck sorted, drop a bridge position MM humbucker in it, see what that does.
That really does all add up to some punch...me thinks.. Garry
 21. For Me ... i seem to get a punchy sound... with high action and heavier strings....no matter what bass. Another factor to consider.... But of course we are all different beast's... so forget what i have just said I must admit though....ye olde MM style Pup does seem to Punch it out a bit... Garry
