4. Ok, up for grabs here are two pedals that are some of the most extreme on my board, and they can actually be used together or separately. Chunk Systems Brown Dog - Gated Bass Fuzz (cheapest rrp ive seen is £225) Check out Grygryx's review here: http://bassfuzz.com/2009/04/02/fuzz-review...ated-bass-fuzz/ (click on the dropdown menu to see the video clips) Capable of more natural fuzz tones for super-synthy buzz-tones. controls: Dirty Level (quiet-loud) Clean Level (quiet-loud) Gate (sloppy-tight) Fuzz (fuzzy-synthy) Clipping switch (SOFT or HARD) 1x input 1x regular output 1x Envelope output (for connecting to the Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk, or to the Pigtronix EP1's 'trigger' input) - theres more descriptions of what this is online http://www.chunksystems.com/bd.htm - general info and clips. http://www.chunksystems.com/files/bd_manual.pdf - the manual The Brown Dog is a hard puppy to find. Only a few retailers in the UK stock it and, as mentioned above, the absolute cheapest ive seen it for sale is £225 - these are selling for about £260 in Denmark Street The GATE Control is an adjustable noisegate that can produce some amazing synthetic fuzz tones when cranked. runs of regular 9v power supply or battery I'd like £150 Posted to the UK (paypal only please) - and ill do my best to get it out next working day with Next Day Delivery via Royal Mail Next is the Pigtronix EP1 Envelope-Phaser This pedal is a box of nuts, its a Phaser AND and the funkiest Envelope Filter i've ever heard. Its chock full of features have a look here: http://www.pigtronix.com/products08/ep1.html You can control the speed of the LFO with an expression pedal (not provided, as i dont have one), or trigger it with an external sound source (ie: drum machine, keyboard, whatever) The phaser tempo is always visible via the LED (when in LFO mode) - even when the pedal is bypassed. Controls: (for the envelope filter) Sensitivity Sweep (for the LFO Phaser) Character Speed (for both) Resonance Intensity There are 3 Stomp switches, and u can switch between Envelope Filter and LFO Phaser on the fly (i set it up for a funky envelope follower - then drop in a hard chopped LFO phaser for a 'wub wub wub' dubstep sound) Theres much more info available online: http://pigtronix.com/instruction%20manual%20final.pdf Runs off 12v adapter, which is supplied in the sale (no batteries). Looking for £105 including postage to the UK (paypal only please) ok, hold on to your hats: as mentioned previously - Trigger Input on the Pigtronix and the Envelope (+12db phase inverted) Output on the Brown Dog can actually be connected with a normal jack lead so that the ENVELOPE PHASER is triggered by the clean, phase inverted signal from the BROWN DOG, but actually phases/filter the fuzz tone. The result is that regardless whether the Brown Dog is on or off, the Envelope Phaser should always react the same - dynamic and funky, unlike running a regular fuzz into it, causing the filter to freak out. So both pedals can be used independantly or together. This combination yields soooo many sounds its incredible in my opinion as these pedals work to well together - im willing to sell both together for £240 including UK postage Theo
5. bump - - if it doesnt sell, im gonna stick some flats on it and maybe stick some foam at the bridge
6. Thanks, they are great basses, just wish i had a use for it. At heart i am a one-bass sorta guy, but i just love buying basses
7. Im selling my Ibanez ATK 4001 - its a 2001 model made in Korea. I bought this bass quite recently, because I wanted a MM stingray sound and the ATK's sounded good to me. This bass did not disappoint me. Its got a whacking great tripple-coil pickup at the bridge and a jazz bass pickup at the neck, active electronics with a 3-band eq and 5-way selector. The 401 can be set to sound like a Stingray (position 4 - boost bass and treble a little) and visually it looks like a mad cross between a rickenbacker (the bridge) and a Stringray (the pickup). The 401 also looks alot nicer that the regular, cheaper 301s as it doesnt have a pickguard, but a very beautiful sunburst-like finish. Heres the post i bought the bass from: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39290&hl=atk There is some damage - it is truly cosmetic and due to the finish, it isnt easily noticable most of the time. Images can be seen here: http://s135.photobucket.com/albums/q143/do...and%20attitude/ also in that album is photos of my Yamaha im selling More photos available on request for interrested buyers. The bass is exactly as i expected, and more, but I just bought a Deluxe Fender p/j bass - and thats the one for me, so im thinning out the number of basses I own. My price is £250 including postage to mainland UK or £225 cash on collection. Paypal only for postage-sales. This bass is of a very high quality (for the price) and would probably cost about £500 new (judging by the £400 store price of the 301s)
8. OK, got some basses for sale, not interrested in trades as I currently have 5 basses and really dont need any more than two (and the Jaguar is on indefinite hiatus ) First up is my Yamaha Billy Sheehan Attitude Special - I believe its a 1995/6 model I believe the Special was released as a cheaper alternative to the Attidude LTD model, but wasnt as cheap as the Attitude Plus. It doesnt have the dual outputs or scallopped frets, but does have the signature 'surf green' finish. The Special has a single output, a p-style pickup and a gibson 'mudbucker'-style pickup at the neck. It has a volume control for each pickup and a tone control for the mudbucker. I upgraded the stock mudbucker with the DiMarzio Will Power Neck pickup (which is what they use in the top-end models) and I replaced the P-pickup with a DiMarzio Model One blade pickup - they person i bought it from claimed it was about 10 years old, but I cant confirm that. The good: the neck is amazingly playable, very quick, and from what ive manages to read about the Special on both BassChat and TalkBass - it may have a thinner neck than its higher-priced relatives. I generally play jazz basses and have had no trouble with the yammie whatsoever. Its capable of a very aggressive p-bass midrangey tone, or fat dub-style tones, the pickups can be blended together or used solo, but the tone control is only for the Will Power Neck pickup. This bass became my main bass over both my Jaguar and my Deluxe Jazz because of its ability to cut through the band, but still sound natural. The bass is passive, but by experimenting with the pickup and tone controls, there are alot of sonic varieties available. the bad: The single worst thing with the bass is that the fretboard has begun to come away from the neck. I actually hadnt noticed untill i was changing strings one time and what i thought was just a little stress line open up alittle under the relief. The separation seems to reach from the nut to midway between first and second fret. Its not been an issue for me, as once the strings are on, the tension is strong enough to keep everything in place, hasnt affected playing or intonation. The guy who does all my guitar work with me said that its a pretty simple job to fix, involving wood glue and a clamp, but that if i wanted it done, id need to leave it with him for a week, and TBH i just havent needed the work done. You could do the job yourself if you fancy it. The bass also has a number of dents, scrapes and chips that are all visible in the pics (there is also some scratching on the body between the p-pickup and the bridge), and are of varying sizes and depths. here are some more pics, both general, and showing damage. There are also pics here of my Ibanez, which is also for sale: http://s135.photobucket.com/albums/q143/do...and%20attitude/ I will sort some detailed photos on request from interrested buyers. heres a Harmony Central page about the Attitude Special (although im not sure if the first review is, as the Special never came stock with DiMarzio's) http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...de+Special/10/1 The DiMarzio Will Power neck pickup cost me £120 only a few months ago. In the sale i will include the ORIGINAL pickups aswell as the Dimarzios. The bass is The rock bass, and as such, it has been rocked hard for almost 15 years, and has the scars to prove it. I'd Like £299 posted to mainland UK, £275 for cash on collection. I am open to offers, but dont insult me - even with the damage to the neck/body, theres still £200 of pickups in there. Paypal or cash-in-hand. As mentioned, I am happy to post more detailed pics on request. any questions, please ask. I can also post audio clips on request, but theres no point to that as it'll sound different through every rig.
9. hmmmmmm, whats the width of the neck pocket? im just wondering if the neck from my Jag bass might fit
10. yeah, im looking for a Tech 21 Bass Driver DI. Seen them go here for about £90, so I think its reasonable to ask that. I also have a Tech 21 XXL bass edition for sale that i'd be happy to part-x (im selling it for £55 but ill give it for a trade value of £40 - so Id pay £50 and send the XXL) I also have a Fuzzrocious Pedals Green Stache (GGG-tuned big muff) that i could part-x but that commands a higher value, and im not that keen to get rid of it. thanks Theo

13. +1 to all that. I posted a similar question to this on TalkBass a few months ago, regarding using effects through a DI. I play though a 1x15 cab (and sometimes with an added 2x10 with the horn turned off), when I played a gig with a house rig (2x10, with tweeter that i didnt know was on till after the gig) and DI'd through the PA, my distortion sounded horrible, just plain wrong. After beating myself up over the lame sound of my awesome pedals i realised what it was: playing through a 1x15 is very different to something with horns. The high frequencies that these things can produce can be amazing, but not for distortion, which i guess is why guitarists are always mic'd up. really for DI and horn purposes i think you need something that'll roll off from about 4-5khz, which im pleased to say the Sansamp pedals do. In my experience (with my old band that I always got DI'd at gigs with), something like the sansamp is a great idea coz essentially you'll sound like your playing through a tube amp when you're DI'ing even when using effects - the sansamps also add a little compression. Soundguys love it too coz the tone is more pleasing and they dont have to sod around with another mic for the band.
14. XXL still up for grabs i guess, might take it to band practice instead of my regular distortion to see how it fares again a guitarist who plays through a bigger bass cab than i do (ampeg 410)
15. i might be interrested in the hematoma, but id need a price first
