I think I'll do that; could I use the deltalight (8ohms) with the blueline (16ohms) until i get another blueline?

I have an old Torque 1 x12 monitor, which I was going to restore and was thinking I might be able to use the deltalight in that?

Although a diagram for a 1 x 10 cabinet would be handy; I'm not a DIY man, but my best mate is!!!!

  2. Thanks again for the advice; I've had a bit of time to look at the cabinet and it's only one speaker making the noise!! So I must have damaged it, possibly when using the EBS td650 and Marcus Miller 5 string at a rehearsal!!!!!

I originally planned to use the 2x10 and Ashdown amp with my 4 string basses for quiet gigs. Lesson learnt I think; not sure whether to replace the speaker with another deltalite or try and get another Ashdown blue line to go with the one original that's I have left.

    Thanks again.

  3. I have a EBS TD650 and as much as I love the Amp I'm thinking about something lighter. Although I haven't come to a firm decision I thought it would be a good idea to see if there was any interest in a trade for an Amp of comparable quality and performance?

The Amp is in excellent condition and is housed in a Gator 3U rack case.

  4. Thanks for the support, I'm beginning to regret giving away one of the speakers; that's life. The otherwise cab sounds good!! I will probably give it up as a bad job and use it for low volume rehearsals only; it's starting to get a bit technical for me. I it may be worth thinking about selling the cab and speakers separately to someone who'll use them. I have a lightweight 2x12, which should meet my needs until I grow too old to lift even that, and then have two smaller cabinets again!!!!!

Thanks for the comment; I'm not sure what I can do with the port as it's a vent at the bottom of the cab. Would I be wasting my time insulating the cab and what would be best to use? The cab is a `back up' for small gigs or adding to my 2 x 12, but I would like to make it better without wasting money. Would using different speakers be an advanatge?

  6. Just a thought, would insulating the cabinet make any difference; it's an Ashdown 2 x 10 compact and has no insulation at present?

I'd love to try a Glock, I've only heard good things about them; if anyone in the North East of England has one I'd like to hear it?

  7. Thanks for the feedback: Tried the cab this morning with Ashdown ABM and 4 string Wal; I think I'm pushing the drivers too hard, the cab sounds really good, nice tight sound, then when at volume (about half way on the master volume) the speaker starts to misbehave. I can't tune the ports as this is a vented cab design. So it looks as if it's a `quiet Gigs only' setup, I can't put the old speakers back as I gave one away, and I'm not prepared to try other speakers just yet. Never mind I've always got the the EBS TD650 and Dr Bass 2460!!! Just waiting for a Gig where I can use both cabs together!!!!!!

  8. When I got a new 2 x 12 cab I decided to sell the 1 x 15 and make my Ashdown Compact 2 x 10 into a light weight 4 Ohm cab for practice and small gigs; I put 2 Eminence Deltalights into the cab and thought everything was fine. I have been using the Cab with my Ashdown ABM 500 head with a 4 string bass. However, for the past couple of practices with another Band I took my 5 string Jazz. During the second practice I noticed the speaker making a noise when I played below bottom E, which sounded like something vibrating against the cone. Resting your finger against a moving cone gives a similar sound!. My question is have I damaged the speakers or is it just that they can't cope with the low B?

  9. I like my AKG K240's three years old now, sound good and it's easy to find replacement parts.

Cheapest I've found are at: http://www.studiocare.com/store/index.php?...fkgl72uvuca76m0

Which is less than I paid for mine!!

  10. Now that would be telling!!!!

Yes it looks very much like that, as I said it's sunburst, and the neck is rosewood fretted. Where did you find the photo? I've looked and couldn't find anything like that. I take it the USA neck plate is a replacement?

It's in Air Guitars for £499 I believe.

  11. I've seen a thin line P Bass in a local music shop,it has:

a sunburst finish, no scratch plate, F hole, P bass & piezo pickups, three controls, wooden bridge.

The neck plate says it's USA, yet the headstock says it made in Japan, it's not the pointy headstock. The serial number on the heal of the neck begins with a N and there's a logo on the end of the headstock which looks like an A (stylised S) E.

Any ideas? I've had a look on the Web and can see basses that look similar, but they have scratch plates!!

  12. I am finding it difficult to decide whether this bass is `right for me' as a third 5'er to string E to C. However, this bass is a bargain, anyone wanting to venture into 5's should consider this.

Geoff will also look after you whilst you're there; don't worry he doesn't look anything like his profile picture!

  13. Hello Fellow BC'ers

I had a 2x12 cabinet made to match my 1964 Fender Bassman 50 Amp, which was originally part of a piggyback set up. I have decided to fix piggyback bushes to the 2x12 cabinet, however, it is sealed and the speakers are both bolted and glued into place! Can anyone suggest a way for me to remove the speakers, without damaging the cabinet or fit the washer and nut from the inside without removing the speakers. There is a port, but I am unable to get my hand to where the bolt would protrude.

I know there are some clever people out there who are used the these types of problems; Thankfully I haven't drilled any holes, so I could always leave the cabinet as is, in which case does anyone need a set of piggyback bushes and thumb screws?

  14. I'm looking to sell my Ashdown Cabs both ABM compact cabs as I've gone lightweight, not that they are so heavy, it's just that I can take one cab instead of two; I'm looking at £150 each.

I wasn't looking to sell the Amp, but if someone offers me a good trade or the whole rig then I may consider letting it go: I'm interested in all things 5 string.

    I would prefer local pickup.

I forgot to say that both cabs come with`TuffStuff' covers.

  15. I've replaced the Preamp in my Marcus Miller 5 string with an East Marcus Retro 01. I never leave my guitar connected when not playing and I'm only getting about 7 days life from a battery. I've sent these photo's to John and everything appears OK. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar issue or can spot the problem?

Edit: I'd just like to add that I'm really pleased with the preamp and it has improved the sound of the bass, I just can't work out where I'm `shorting' the battery.

    Cheers
