1. and
Founding member of Nuclear Rabbit and accomplished extended range bass player, Jean will perform original compositions, improvisations and video game music on his 11-string Ken Lawrence "Joust" bass.
LOL says it all really..
2.
It's a good job we don't all think like you. Jaco would never have torn the frets from his jazz bass, Larry graham might never have put thumb to string, John Entwistle would have left his treble control set flat etc. Most people probably don't, that's personal taste, but an awful lot of people do, there wouldn't be this sort of thing going on otherwise http://www.unpronounceable.com/solobassnight/ As for embarrasing and uncool, how can being a talented musician be embarrasing and uncool, I'd rather listen to someone talented trying something different, than a mediocre bass player playing something that's been done by thousands of other people thousands of times, now that is boring. Just my opinion of course.
I didn't say a bass player can't be inovative or be more creative with his lines, but what you said about pushing the boundaries, come on, it's all been done before, I don't believe there's any greater role a bass can play in a popular music genre, but then.. I'm sure there's a few new ways to tap at lightspeed and whatnot for the handful of bassists around the world that might be interested in that kind of birdshit. LOL
3. His music stinks, and most bassists don't even know who he is, why listen to him? And for every virtuoso bassist that says don't use one, another says do.
4.
Personal taste isn't it. But I'd say that most solo things have a niche market, how many non-musicians have heard of Alan Holdsworth for example or Eberhardt Weber. Why should I buy a guitar if I want to solo, and seeing how there are many fine bass players who make a living, and sell albums by playing bass, I don't see how bass can be considered as an unsuitable instrument, especially if it's an extended range instrument .
Well, fact is, most people don't want to hear it! Personally I couldn't be happy taking part in a music that attracts such a tiny audience. I think it's also kind of an embarrassing and uncool music to be into, but that's just me..
5. A metronome improves timing, what else do you need to know?
6. I think, if you want to play solos, play a guitar, or another suitable instrument. These bass guys, the only people that buys their music are bassists, and I don't believe that's cause it's a 'refined' taste, I think it's cause it's sh*t LOL. I mean, there are some great players around who make you go wow, but for me, it's become tiring, and I crave for simplicity.

12. Synthaxe? Love to see one of those in action.
13. Actually, dunno if I'll go now... I loved some of his early stuff, but his later stuff, man that takes some getting into, those really long chordy parts, I'm just like, cmon man start the bloody guitar solos!! Was a time when I loved him, but it's like over time my brain has built up some kind of resistance to that kind of far out music..
14. I got a hartke ha4000 a few weeks back, but just a few days ago I found out it was faulty, so I send it back yesterday to the guy, that one was exactly 12.2kg btw, but I guess the 3500 might be a little lighter, still, they are good, but heavy as f*** amps, well, compared to the mark bass I had, that was light as anything.. I'd buy this off you when I get my money back but I'm gonna leave replacing it until after xmas, need the money!! good luck.
15. exactly, it would cost only £7 for parcel2go to collect if from your address, tracking number and everything, infact, even the buyer could arrange that, provided you're in on the collection day.
16. cool, wouldn't mind going to that actually, well, the wolves venue.
17. I'll never understand it, but good for you if it makes you happy.
