  1. Thanks for flagging this. Original RRP for an A2S was around £1350 IIRC. A few years back I paid the end-of-line 'clearance' price of £799 new for mine and it's the best money I've ever spent!! Of course, you have to like the quirky design - and I love it. It's ergonomically brilliant too. Must say I'm tempted to add the A1H to my modest collection. I say this in the hope that someone will beat me to it cos I shouldn't really be spending £629 on another bass right now. 🤞
  2. Look forward to seeing you and your bass(es) next year - and thanks to Rich for replying.
  3. KEYBOARD PLAYER WANTED IN SOMERSET My 4-pc (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) pop/rock covers band is looking for a versatile keyboard player with a view to doing 1 or 2 well-paying gigs a month. Although this is a new start-up, we are all experienced gigging musicians and our 5th band member must be the same. We have already delivered a great performance at our first private function and are currently rehearsing in Somerton to expand our play-list. If you know anyone that may be interested, please call me on 07770 946135 or give them my phone number for a chat. Mike

  5. The '70s-wound Aguilars that came as OE on my active Vox Starstream A2S are absolutely killer.
  6. I was very sceptical about the Sandy pickups before ordering my Cali ll SL TM 4 SHORT - almost to the point of deciding against buying it. 12 months down the line, I can say that it's the best thing I ever did and I and my band-mates are completely happy with what the pickups bring to our classic rock/pop covers party. Of course, I completely accept the point that others have made about what a subjective thing bass sounds are. I just wanted to speak against the notion that Sandy pickups might not be fit for purpose.
  7. Could it be a mechanical rather than an electrical issue, i.e. the string itself or poor contact with the nut/bridge saddle?
  8. Excellent recommendation but scarce second hand and not cheap new.
  9. Scared the living daylights out of me at the time - I was so relieved to see you jump straight back onto your feet and carry on with that casual 'just a scratch' expression on your face. On reflection, it was up there with the best slap-stick comedy routines I've ever seen ☺️ As the saying goes, "All's well that ends well".
  10. I found the way you did it really useful as it clearly demonstrated the relative differences. Thanks again for doing it Phil.
  11. I had the signature mini bass - KenKen?? Couldn't really fault it except for one minor irritation - the scratch-plate was so thick that it had to be removed to get an allen key in to the truss-rod adjustment slot. The tonal flavouring wasn't quite to my liking so I moved it on.
  12. Me and Mrs. S set the stopwatch running. It's taken you 3m25sec to reply - what kept you? Don't forget you'll need a bigger car for next year.😄
  13. Just confirming hall booked for October 12th, 2025 as instructed by neepheid 😁
  14. Last but by no means least, thanks as always to Phil Starr, Stevie, chienmortbb and MoJoKe for bringing your knowledge, expertise and products to the party. 👍
  15. Once again, a good time was had by all.
  16. Here's the group shot - more later. Thanks for coming everybody😊
  17. Sorry, had a look but couldn't find anything reasonable let alone cheap. Accommodation prices have gone silly in recent years. You'd be better paying Rich a tenner to put the duvet cover on himself - me, I'd pay £20 to get out of doing that job 😉.
  18. Thanks, hope the new kitchen goes well too.
  19. Darn! I always like the stuff you bring. Wish you better soon.
