There are two types jbx and jbxn , different magnets the jbxn has neodymium magnets and are £20 each.

The n3 may cost £100+ but price vs quality is a very subjective matter the jbxn are great pick ups at a reasonable price never seen any negitive comments about them unlike the n3, I have use them in another jazz bass and would highly recommend them, plus it's only £40 if you don't like them I can't see any problem with selling them on.

Just try a set of entwistle jbxn n , £40 absolutely outstanding for the money.

Hi jayv, shielding is quite easy to do , the copper tape can be bought from Amazon or eBay and there are detailed instructions on talkbass, no special tools are needed just a screwdriver and some care .I recently bought an okoume jazz bass which has n3 noiseless I did the shielding on that bass but it made no difference to the noisey operation, I would like to add I have shieded 3 jazz basses before and they were all successful, in the end I replaced the pick-ups and now have a completely silent bass. The pick ups are just not very good.

Recently acquired a mm v7 4 string and am looking for a bit of advice, the thing is on the bridge pick up the pole pieces on the E and A strings seem to be too low, below the level of the pick up surround but all the other pole pieces are level, is this normal? Has any one else noticed this ?

Thanks for the info, pulled the trigger on a sire v7, but the j&d's are so cheap I will still get one ,stick all my bit's on and string it with flag's.

Hi to you all, really looking for some advice. I have a neck from a standard series just bass they I really like and would like to find a suitable body, I have fitted this neck to a VM fretless body and it seemed to be a good fit, I was wondering if it would fit a J&D jazz body ? Has anybody tried this . I have some entwistle jbxn pick ups,a east j retro pre amp and a high mass bridge , I really enjoy tinkering with guitar's, I'm I wasting my time ? Should I just go for a mm sire v7? Just don't know , birthday in a few days looking for a project \ treat , on decisions ,HELP!

Yeah that was me, jbnx neck pick up was faulty only working on E and A strings.

Maybe linear pot might be the answer the only thing I find a bit confusing is everything works OK with the jazz pick up in the neck position and as far as wiring is concerned all I have done is remove the j and replaced it with the p. I will connect the p straight to the output jack to see how it sound's if that's OK then I don't know what to do next. Resistor's have been mentioned but I think more research is needed on that front.

Did you install the pick ups yourself ? Are they fender basses ? VVT, blend pot or switch ? Load's question I know , but I really would like to get them installed and working.

Check the pick up early on, 8.45k ohm's that seems OK,really strange. Quite disappointed but like most thing in life , it always a great plan when you first start it, anyway birthday coming up soon could just treat myself to a cheap precision special but saying that those sire v7 are looking very tempting.
