1. Bump to say the original description of the Boss chorus as being without any marks is now redundant due to noticing some minor wear on the sides. Still in super condition though! Offers of course welcome!
2. If you wanted one made for a reasonable price, you could ask this guy: http://www.jacksinstrumentservices.com/index.html He did some repair work on my Stingray a while ago and I asked him at the time if he would do me a SUB 5 pickguard, and he agreed (though I never got round to actually getting one as I decided to sell the SUB soon after)
3.
Put an elasticated ponytail band round the neck at the 2nd fret. This stops all unwanted ringing. Victor Wooten recommends it. I'm not anywhere near his league but it does work a treat for open A and E strings in basic rock songs. I buy mine from Claire's Accessories
That's a good shout
4. I did something similar by wedging a sock/glove (can't remember which!) under the strings by the bridge. It'll look bloody awful onstage, but it worked for me (recording at home, I might add...)
5. Price drops added! I'd like to get shut of these as soon as possible really. Great pedals don't deserve to be unused! Jack
6. Hi all, Decided to sell off most of my stompboxes to fund the purchase of a Zoom B3 for reasons of versatility/space-saving with my new band which is looking like requiring a lot more synthy sounds than I can currently produce. All pedals full working order. No power supplies included unfortunately as I use a 1 Spot. Built like a tank. Comes with box.] [s]Korg DT-10 pedal tuner ... £25 posted[/s] WITHDRAWN [Good condition, full working order, very reliable and sturdily built pedal. Best tuner I've owned but it's a little too big for my pedalboard now (or will be when the B3 goes on it). Got a couple of dints on the surface from heavy gig-usage but otherwise fine.] Payment by bank transfer preferably please... not sure what PayPal's fees are like currently. Many thanks! Jack
7. I played a P bass in the studio on a couple of tracks of the album my old band did. It was OK, I didn't quite feel at home with it (it does sound good on the tracks however- it just doesn't have 'my' sound, to my ears it may as well be somebody else playing). I also played a Japanese P bass in a rehearsal once (in the P look that I love, black/black with maple) and it was great, much better than the one I'd used on the recordings, but it still didn't sound like my sound. I've had my Stingray (3EQ) for 5 years now and I adore it. I've sold all the other basses I've owned because it just sounds to me like 'me'; when I think up basslines etc, I always imagine them with the tone that my Stingray gives me. I just feel comfortable with it. Plus it looks brilliant and has an extra "cool" vibe that the Precision just doesn't have, IMO (subjective of course!). Both great basses but subjectivity is the key!
8. The MXR M80 is brilliant, but you'll probably want to look elsewhere if you want a warm/vintage fuzz sound. The distortion channel on the M80 is very saw-y and modern (to my ears), and a little bit of the low end gets lost so I don't use it. On the the other hand I love the EQ section and the colour switch is an essential 'always on' for me.
9. Zero 7 - I Have Seen Pretty straightforward... like someone else said, it's this today but will most likely be something different tomorrow.
10. I've been listening to a fair bit of TFF recently. I may be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere (or at least getting the indication) that as they went on he became a lot more 'overshadowed' by Roland Orzabal, in that Curt didn't even play bass on all the songs on their later albums and Roland did most of the songwriting/arrangements etc (I'm talking post-Songs from the Big Chair). If you follow him on Twitter he occasionally does Q+A sessions with fans, usually giving very short answers!
11. Long-time admirer of the boards on this thread. Here's my latest effort for my new bass/synth setup. The Behringer phaser on it's own little board is the only 'synth exclusive' pedal there, with everything running through the DOD flanger, Behringer reverb and the MXR M80 thanks to the AB switch (which is a Buzz Electronics one). The two Behringer pedals are both brand new- picked up both for under £40 as I'm on a severe budget at the moment and they do the job just fine, the phaser is a little on the noisy side but I'm impressed with the Reverb Machine. Picked up that Nobels bass overdrive the other week for £15 and it's brilliant. So much better than the distortion channel on the MXR and keeps all of the low end.
