1. 104HF on hold, Any interest in the Little Mark Tube 800 before Ebay? It's a great light weight head with Solid State and Tube blendable. Comes with quality rack and Mark Bass rack ears
  2.
Hi, i'm very intrested in the head, does it work well with effects (fuzz pedals especially)? i'm thinking of combining this with a NY804 cabinet for a small lightweight mini stack(might buy a second 804 cab for gigs later on when finances are better...) or a set of NY 212 cab's, Do you think this might be a suitable set-up for small to medium large stoner rock gig's? is the D.I. out any good for use with a p.a. system? kind regards, Donovan.
DI out is excellent according to many sound guys I have known and worked with. I used to use a sans amp programmable pedal straight into the head and it sounded huge, especially with the ability to blend Tube and Solid State tones upon the bass signals entry and with the very sensitive EQ you have many options to play with.... Andy

  4. Glad you guys enjoyed it, thanks! Our goal with "Reunion" is to create something everyone could appreciate and chill out to, especially if it is not usually your thing.
  5. Me and an old school friend have been working on a side project together called "The Reunion" when he is back once a year from Thailand to visit his family. Ashley's style of acoustic percussive playing is heavily influenced by a lot of the CandyRat Records artists, mainly Andy Mckee and Antoine Dufour - also where I have taken a lot of influence in my style of bass playing. I hope you guys can appreciate it! Happy new year to all my bass brothers! Andy C Saxton
  6.
Sounds wicked Andy I have no criticism whatsoever to offer - my only suggestion in terms of a track would be to integrate another part, keyoard or guiair, to take the ideas even further sonically - I think you've completely developed your own style and sound and it grooves great as well - so all I can add is that to see you develop musically it would be awesome to hear some of the lovely harmonic things expanded and or doubled - but I'm sure you're capable of doing that yourself. I only say this as while this music obviously appeals to us bass heads it's also good to think about reaching out to non-bass types as well - but it's all there and I really love the development of your ideas - the end section was my fave - really cool. One question: are the drums live or progammed? Either way - nice work. Cheers Mike
Cheers Mike Buddy :-) I often contemplate adding other instruments to my tracks and over dubbing more bass parts but I want to get across what I am actually doing in one single performance. This way I feel begginner bass players can see what is possible on the instrument. However! I am taking a bold step and I am writing songs for a new rock band I'm gonna form (maybe 3 peice) and front (lead vocals) It will involve my own style of playing but in a much simpler form - to enable me to sing at the same time! (hopefully in tune) I have always appreciated your constructive feedback in the past so I will be sure to send you an MP3 or 2! Regards, Andy
  7. Stating working on my 2nd album and here is an idea for it. It blends different techniques and has some time signature changes. Hope you guys dig it Cheers bass bro's, Andy :-)
  8.
Seeing who pointed Warwick in your direction how about I just have it for nought
Ha ha ha! nice try! How about I buy you a beer instead? :-)
  9. I have two of these in safe storage at home, I can only fit one into my car and to be honest I only require one volume wise on stage using my MarkTube 800w They are 3 years old and I bought the whole rig new myself! I have alternated use of both cabs so the buyer can pick whatever one they prefer but they are both still in good condition. As you all know they are great cabs, very loud, great sounding and remarkably light for the punch they pack! (I can carry one on my own at gigs) I'm sad letting one of them go but I cannot justify keeping both just because they are eye candy stacked up in my room Video of me playing through rig

IMPEDENCE: 8 ohms
SPEAKER SIZE: 4x10 in. 10. Have you still got this bass? one of my students may be interested! What is the Ebay URL? Cheers Andy
  11.
Fair enough, I remember you saying it was only a loan one now. It sounded great, the colour just wasn't for me at all though. I can understand that it might look good with proper lighting, that working men's club we played to a group of pensioners wasn't really the right setting for something so flashy though haha.
I was told (by a source we both know) that this gig would be jam packed full of local kids who would go crazy to any kind of music + rider (a few beers) Maybe we were 60 years too late? But those pensioners had a glint in their eye, I could tell they wanted to get down! MAYBE we just weren't heavy enough for them????? Definately a gig we won't forget in a hurry! ha ha
  12.
Andy Saxton that pops up from time to time here has one identical and my god it's hideous in the flesh.
Hey dude, i've seen a couple of your posts about that silver bass It was a loan bass from warwick, I thought it looked like a decent stage bass for that band I was doing at the time (New Device) We had a music video coming up and I thought the finish would look "good" for the video :-S I only had this bass for 4 months, and it is not something i would buy for myself..........not that I can afford warwicks prices they are offering me. Andy
  13. I have recorded bass for a few house producers, I also deliver film score material to post production houses hence why my studio has 24 Bit / 192 kHz Mastering Quality A/D and D/A conversion. I use Lynx Studio Technology Aurora 16 Convertors and Cards. So if required I can deliver recorded Bass at 192 kHz
  14.
here's the chart I'm working from - enjoy !
Cheers for the chart! Was gonna start learning this by ear until this thread pooped up :-)
  15. KRK Rockit 5's are the worlds #1 selling monitors within a budget price range I started out with these and then upgraded to the KRK VXT models The market these days is very competative so i'm sure there may be cheaper equivalents but I was very impressed with the Rockit series.
  16.
CB, this usually isn't my thing and if I'm totally honest I'm not the greatest fan of the solo bass playing thing but I think you've managed to develop a sound and technique that is actually incredibly unique and more importantly, very accessible to listen to. I'm really impressed and I'll definitely keep an eye out for you.
Thankyou very much for your comment! When I first set out to create some solo peices my main focus was always to keep things as accessible as I could. Now with this album complete I can safely say that accessible is definately easier said then done (I scrapped A LOT of material) I am learning everyday and evolving with this, the same way I am picking up new skills for bass guitar, composing and music production. I just wish somedays I had more musical enthusiasm/energy, as there is nothing worse then forcing creativity.
  17. I uploaded a new video yesterday, hope you dig it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBlgYnEvuhE
  18. Cheers for the headsup, He sent me a message yesterday, so gonna sort out a free Skype lesson with him to show him that particular technique, We gotta encourage these young bass pups

  21. Ah cheers guys! I love basschat - full of honourable bass gentleman (/women?)
  22.
Hey Andy Great stuff man - you've got a lot of sh*t together here and it's really impressive for a first effort - if I had to criticise (only in a friendly way that is) there is a danger of this kind of slap-n-tap stuff sounding a bit repetitive on each track and harmonically using open strings can also tie things into sounding like they are in similar keys etc. Technically however you are totally on it and the producion, bass tone and performances are first rate - I know you're more of a funk-rock into Manring style player but a little fingerstyle and the odd melody line would be nice too. I'm assuming the drums are live or are they cleverly programmed? I'd be interested to know - and it was nice to hear some other instruments coming in on the album tracks too. But seriously well done and I hope you keep developing - you've made great leaps here. Mike
Hey Mike, Thankyou for your comments. The style of playing I replicate is influenced by the 'open playing' techniques of new age acoustic guitar players like 'Andy Mckee' and 'Antoine Dufour' but it is not present throughout the entire album. I understand it can sound repetive but I do use a few different tunings so there are changes. There is some fingerstyle tracks and a lot of melody lines (i feel) in the mix, but I put my hands up and say there may not be enough. I don't practice finger style as much as I should. This is my first venture into the solo bass album realm, so I am not expecting to please everyone. The drums are in fact a combination of live and programmed, like a lot of popular rock/pop music these days which rely heavily on drum replacement plugins like Drumagog. There are a couple of tracks with just programmed drums, painstakingly building beats by entering each midi note beat for beat and then varying individual velocity hits, then mixing and blending fx/sends - LONG! So yeh thanks for the kind words and the constructive feedback mate, I have spent just over 1 year on this album, and it has been pretty much a full time effort. Now I am looking forward to finally playing my PS3 and not feeling guilty that I should be working on my music. I just bought a few games from ebay with some of the money I have made from the album, as a kind of reward to myself, I was gonna spend the money on more bass/studio gear but I thought I need a break from it. I would be really interested to hear your bass album dude! ALBUM SWAP!!! PM me! Cheers, Andy
