2.
I like these a lot, thanks for posting them. Reminds me a lot of Trip Wamsley, which is a good thing Cheers Alun
Cheers man! I just checked out Trip Wamsley on youtube He makes me sound like the bassist from "Fallout Boy"
 3.
Clearly you've taken offence at what I've said and you now see us as being in some kind of competition. When you play phrases across the barline, as you do, and which I love, and play syncopated phrases which don't have a note on the 1 or 2 or 4, then it can be easy as a listener to lose a sense of where you are. That's what I meant about context and without a simple 1,2,3,4 happening underneath some of those passages it sounded to me like you went in and out. You've now told me that you haven't, so I concluded that my ears, as a listener, are letting me down because there's no rhythmic accompaniment to help me out. If it isn't a problem for any other listeners, then happily ignore what I've said. I don't know if you remember but somewhere near the beginning I said I liked both videos.
I must admit that one of my pet hates are musicians with bad timing (especially drummers who cannot play to a click) and your comment "You didn't waver a lot but just enough to distract me a little" got me because on both videos I made sure I was perfectly in time. You cant hear it but I am watching a digital metronome which is on silent. I guess I should learn to take constructive critisms better, besides I can tell you know what you are talking about! It would make sense to have an 'audible' rhythmic accompaniment next time! No hard feelings! and thanks for the advice! Andy
 4.
Funny you should mention him - after seeing him at the Musik Messe in Frankfurt I've been working on his slap style - it's just awesome and while it's not as fast as some it's incredibly accurate... I love it! M
I particularly love Alain Caron for his composition, especially in that song 'Slam The Clown', do you know where you can get any acurate tab/sheet music for that song?
 5.
Then it must be the lack of context for me on the more complex syncopations and phrasing. Not having a dig. Just trying to help.
Ah you've lost me man, maybe you should put up your own video and show us all what you mean?
 6.
Just don't tell Jeff
Ha, who is Jeff?
 7.
I enjoyed both of those BUT please use some kind of rhythmic accompaniment. When you're playing flashy compositions like these, a basic rhythmic accompaniment can give some context to some of the more complex syncopations and it can also keep you in time! You didn't waver a lot but just enough to distract me a little.
I have drums on the MP3 version attached to this topic, and im perfectly in time with a metronome on both of those videos, i play to a metronome everytime I play bass , I know exactly when i am slightly behind or in front of the beat, I dont go out of time in these videos.
 8.
Great stuff everyone. Now do ballad! Or a love song? A lullaby? A Pavanne?
Okay done!!
 9.
Like this : Nice stuff man - I mean it's 'solo bass' rather than "doing what a proper bassist should be doing..." - but your playing is tight and the ideas are well conceived and executed - good sound as well which helps too. Are you tuned E - C by the way? Just noticed it's a 5 string and you're slapping a lot on the bottom string... sounds good. Cheers Mike
Thanks Mike! I know what you mean about the 'solo bass' comment, thats why in my band 'new device' I only ever play what is needed within each song. I am indeed tuned E - C, I have never really got on with low B, although now I wanna get a six string so I can learn some Alain Caron - Woo! I can do it now
 10. Hi guys, Ive been on here a little while but I have never got around to introducing myself! My names Andy, I live just outside London. I am 27 years old and have been playing bass about 12 years. I went to the same secondary school as the bass player from Sikth (James Leech) - who was in the year above me. (great player) I originally started out as a singer at a tender young age with a band at seconadary school but the lead guitarist 'suddenly' decided he could sing so he told me to either learn bass or leave :-( As it was my birthday coming up I asked my 'rents for a bass guitar and I decided to get some private lessons straight away! Soon enough I left that band and I was jamming with the guys in the year above me, 12 years down the line I am humbled to say I have had two reputable record deals, released CDs internationally and played some of Europes most well known venues including Earls Court, Brixton Academy, Birmingham NIA, London Astoria (to name a few) Here is some of my bass playing; My first youtube bass vid - "Tom Thumb" Live - Here is an MP3 (3.18MB) of "Tom Thumb" I recorded and produced myself :-) I have uploaded it onto Rapidshare so every one can share it I have also attached it to this Topic. http://rapidshare.com/files/227114220/TOM_THUMB.mp3 Feel free to share the link/mp3 around. Kind Regards, Andy
Hey Andy, glad you and that Dirty Blonde are making sweet music together, you do her a lot more justice than I ever did - that slap track is awesome. The 'ray is doing great, I had all the old circuits retro wired in and we've been happily gigging since. I'm taking it to Womad Abu Dabi this weekend - it's a well travelled bass. Sorry for the thread hi jack. R
Cheers Rob mate! glad you dig the vid, yeh she's truly great and very trustworthy for a Dirty Blonde! ;-) Glad you and the Musicman are getting along, im glad she went to a good home and she gets to travel the world with you! Ah what a happy ending for us both! Regards, Andy

 15.
Hey Andy, Love the clip. So much more melodic than the vast majority of "happy, slappy, copy-cat dross". The Warwick LE Dirty Blonde in the clip sounds really cool. Is she a keeper? Regards, Dave R.
Thankyou very much, that means a lot to me! Yes she is a keeper, we are a very happily married couple! (thanks to Gilmour) Cheers, Andy
 16.
Hey that Dirty Blonde sounds like sex ! Whats that little melodic thing you do 0:18 to about 0:31 sounds gorgeous ! Dont want to sound cheeky but do you have tab for that little part would like to try it myself.
Hey thanks, that part at 0:18 is a strum to tap passage I wrote a while ago but never had anywhere to use it, I have a few like that knocking around gathering dust! I plan to do TAB for the whole song when I have finished recording it, I shall put it on my myspace page along with the MP3 when its complete. Cheers
 17.
dude. I have no intrest in your bass. I can't really stand slapping and popping I get bored by so many of the supposed greats that folk post vids off up here. but your stuff is impressive! especcially the first minute. (its not 'blood bath' by saso is it? it sounds familiar)
Hey thanks, that peice is one of my own solo bass songs i am recording atm. I have never heard of 'saso'? I would be interested to hear them? they got a myspace? cheers
 18. If you havn't ever played a Streamer Stage II then you are missing out, this bass is not to be confused with any cheap Warwicks with chunky ass necks, this bass is the real deal! This bass is soo tight - from the neck to the body to the sound! it is a great and very diverse instrument with superior tonal qualitys. Times are hard and I cannot justify owning such an expensive bass atm.
