1. I said its NOT " actually 32 scale " ... but to me it feels like more slight instrument .. than say a fender type bass .

My bad ' lazy / rushed wording while sneaking post's in at work without spelling and grammar checks .

Dont get me wrong i love my SB even if it the poor man's version but to 6'5 of me it can feel a bit small compared to my Jazz , Tele bass or T bird

2. The Hartke is a great option , but i'm going to let the cat among the pigeons and suggest this , http://www.ebay.co.u...SgAAOSw8-tWUK-F .

This is Behringers somewhat naughty copy of the hartke kickback design ... it didn't last ,long as I imagine they got themselves sued , I've owned one for 10 years and they sound just as good as the Hartke its pretending to be ... very punchy and clean . Mines been my living room practice amp that doubles as a powered floor monitor for live use.

They are relatively unknown and often go stupidly cheap on ebay and are rated for 120 watt 's, which is plenty for what you are going to need and as my long suffering better half would say. Way way louder than it should be for a terrace house ....

Small gig usable especially with its DI and Preamp Bypass even has a useful headphone jack for midnight noodling .
Just don't expect it to compete with an 4 X10 and head which its not ... the downside is ... its a bit weighty.

full spec's here http://origin.behrin...cts/BX1200.aspx

P.S please SOMEONE buy it to save me from driving to slough and getting another ... im sorely tempted on that advert.

edit ..." spelling cleanup "

3. Browsing Ebay ... saw this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ovation-Magnum-Electric-Bass-Body-/272035988684?hash=item3f569bc4cc:g:T0sAAOSwhcJWOTKd

little tear fell from my eye... i always wanted one of those magnum 3/4's in the Greyburst , well beyond my skills as i'm pretty sure its a custom neck pocket and if i recall they had a SUPER weird bridge and complicated PU arrangement.

Anyone got a damaged body Ovation Magnum ?? or hates the weird body on there magnum / wants to put it into the later shape.

4. Hi all

I've finally decided to stick some ashtrays on my Bitsa jazz ... I mocked this up with some double sided tape to make sure i was comfortable playing with them and they work great for me as i favor ... thumb resting on the bridge PU .

But i don't want to drill into my bass i'd ideally like a removable solution Ii used some 3m double sided tape and it held the bridge one nicely on and did just the trick but would not adhere to my vinyl / matt scratchplate .

does anyone know of a better solution ?

Completely agree about those kind of distances, and agree that if the buyer is travelling too then there should be no contribution expected.

However, if a buyer in Scotland wants me to deliver their bass to them ( I am in Warwickshire) as they don't trust couriers and they don't drive themselves , offering to do so for petrol money is imo perfectly acceptable.

To be honest i think that's totally justified If i knew a person who wanted my bass and was willing to travel halfway to do it i'd be fair about it ...When people say from the outset ... Collection Only and there price is barely (adjusted for inflation) 20-40 quid below new price ... I've hit the back tab on there advert and i'm onto the next ad of interest. It'll be there next week ... month year ... and perhaps with a better price tag on it.

6. The Second hand market is an odd beast ... A item is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it , but people look at comparable past sales and ebay prices and they remember the price they paid for the item new .... I'm not saying basses depreciate like cars but there's a reason there is a "glasses guide" for a 5 year old car , that pretty much all the dealers utilize. Its a buyers market , people have gotten used to fantastic deals like Thomman's and with shipping for free and a 30 day money back.

In a world where you can get a new one for just a little bit more unless an item was exceptional / a great deal, the motivtion to buy second hand needs to both carry the risk that the item isnt quite right and the fact that the goods are used.

I'm going to contradict bassman7755 it should be the other way around ... If you aren't willing to ship it ( especially at the buyers cost) ..You must be willing to accept a slightly below market value for your product . I don't mean this harshly or personally but its an interaction of supply and demand. By not being willing to do so you have shrunk your buyers pool to only those who are willing to collect in the immediate area to you , this means that if you live in an area where there is limited interest for a product expect it to not shift.

7. I've strongly hinted to the other half that for my approaching birthday ... that hotone could sit on my desk and mean i could get rid of my home practice combi ... * what she doesnt know* is it means my 1x15 trace cab which lives at the rehearsal space ... gets to come home instead :P

8. Another thing i had my eye on was one of these http://www.thomann.de/gb/hotone_nano_legacy_thunder_bass.htm Its a 5 watt mini bass head ... supposedly it will push 2X10 cab quite nicely ... but its got a very handy headphone jack

The reviews seem good and some of the you tube footage sounds good ... anyone tried one .... apparently when the headphones are connected it doesnt shut off the Jack out so you can run it to the front of house "padded " and to your on stage cab simultaneously

I just got one of these off of amazon for £21: http://www.amazon.co...duct/B00BK3VA5U Its a nux PG2, its no POD certainly but then my headphones aren't sennheiser either! But its got approximations of everything my pedalboard does and it clips onto my bass strap... :D

EDIT: been mucking about with this all evening. Its really rather good - certainly for the price! I can get some nice basic bass tones out of it and it will also go full on Muse if i feel like it, and the amount of thud makes my headphones rattle.

Hrmm interesting, I've been using my zoom B3 multi effects unit for home practice, but but i'm considering getting a leave in place setup that I don't have to tear down 2 nights a week and that takes a line in as the zoom b3 will not.

on the nux website i spotted this as "new product"
http://www.nuxefx.com/product_detail.php?id=64&id1=40&id2=0

hopefully the price will be much the same once it hits amazon

10. I think that sometimes .... despite the name on the head-stock .. or lack of one in the case of my little bargain bitsa jazz ... the stars align in some god forsaken sweatshop and a damn good guitar gets put together ... quality pickups and tuner can be changed easily so the thing stays in tune and maybe has more tonal options .

This is if something that just really works for you it means that you end up picking it up a bit more, and feeling comfortable using it which in turn leads you to better play , better familiarity and perhaps tone and style.

11. Im also a big fan of D'Addario Chromes which ive got on my jazz and status hot wires on my status .... and nylon tapewounds on my accoustic . I find the chromes have slightly more Bite ... which lets them be a bit more versatile.

12. Pm'd KiOgon about ordering one of his Fabulous Loom's for my Bitsa Jazz , to solve some serious single coil Hiss
(Standard Jazz layout ) He shipped it that day .. and it was with me the next .

The quality of the materials used for the price paid puts the Existing loom from a Vintage modified J to SHAME .... Deal with confidence . I've been a bit lackluster in fitting * it due to having to wait for a bunch of shielding copper tape to arrive *
amazon took far longer to ship than KiOgon.*

The quality of his products , customer service and all round super bass-chatter to deal with a credit to this community.

13. As a self confessed lazy times have popped up when the band has decided they want to learn a song for next week
and its suddenly become the night before the rehearsal and instead of learning something rubbish I've learnt master blaster

I've found resources like ... songster really very good for on boarding a song quickly ... yes i know tab is the enemy n all and some of the midi's can be atrocious but the tools such as slowing down the song looping part im focusing on can really speak up the process.

* cheeky referal link ahoy*

14. I was determined to get this sound sorted out , but it comes at a bit of a price the rest of the band liked the vowely human sound so much ... that i dont actually get to play much of the bass line

achieved using a Tbird with the Tone nob completely Maxed ( used territory ) into a digitech bass synth wah on autowah Env down setting with the threshold very low so almost everything you do wah's ... into a octive down from my B3' finally I palm mute quite hard so it kind of burps it out .

... only issue is i dont have a seperate loop for it so i cant easily switch for playing slap later on when its less important.
