Thanks mate, i know fender have put a premium on this bass, at least you know it is made from the best materials, everything is top notch on this bass, key winds feel fantastic , these are solid, it is a bit heavier but to be expected. the neck is incredible on this even a ric player like me knows that, i just can't get used to any other neck apart from the ric's. i really wanted this bass it sounds incredible. pickups are monstrous. and i have played it for hours and just cant get used to it no matter how hard i try!!!! unfortunately.

Brand new Fender ( purchased on 22/8/2015) USA Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, This is one special Bass, plays fantastic sounds fantastic, but i am just too used to my Rickenbackers wish i could play other basses but after 37 years on rics i am just too used to the feel of them and everything else feels foreign to me !!! so sadly i have to sell this beauty. my feedback http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2803757 specs: select Alder Body Maple neck and fretboard with custom pearl inlays cream binding and rolled edges Bone nut Vintage open gear reverse tuners Geddy Lee 70's custom voiced single coil pickups Geddy Lee high mass bridge perloid 3 ply scratch plate varnish removed from playing area on neck then oiled complete with new style fender hardcase with strap, cloth, cable. Yes Jon, you think someone at fender would wake up and realise this is not a standard jazz, that is basically the tool kit you get with the Geddy Bass, yes the neck on this bass is the highlight and the pickups of course.

Hi Cosmo hope your well sir, The neck is just wonderful really , it is a lot chunkier and feels way better than the jap model, everything feels tighter and better on the bass it is quite heavy too, the pickups sound amazing they have both low end way beyond the jap model and lots of high end zing !!! only issue i had was to intonate the E string it was a bugger to get spot on, got there in the end i raised the saddle up higher and that took care of the problem , machine heads feel really high quality to me , they are very confident and smooth, neck just feels incredible, it is thick but not difficult to play , gives the bass a nice quality feel the binding is almost light brown !! as are the inlays on the fretboard, the Geddy bridge is solid and works well only thing is fender give you the incorrect allen key and also a truss rod tool that is useless as it is a flat head screw on this neck !! saddles adjust with ease and are smooth, big thumbs up from me i like it. and the case is pretty nice too. I know Billy personally, he is a superb Bass player and plays all of chris Squire's bass lines, he is the perfect replacement as well as knowing the songs inside out he is a master musician. i don't even understand anyone doubting his capabilities.

Minitaur and Roland PK5 or PK5A midi bass pedals total control from your feet, you can change octave and program number also with your feet just store the presets on the minitaur and the pedal switching will go through each program for you which you can select with your feet. used that set up for a long time never any issues.

Well one thing is for sure Billy Sherwood is probably the only man for the bass Job he knows the material inside out. I think they will keep going, if they were going to quit they would have done it before now.

I have played Rickenbacker's for 37 years now, usually the reason for someone to complain about one in my experience is they do not know how to set them up properly !!! i have done this many times for other bass players, if a Ric is set up correctly it will sound good, play good, and be hassle free, if someone screws the truss rods up like the pictures further back in the post , usually done by someone with no experience of rickenbacker basses plus the anchor on the truss rod pictures was not a ric anchor and the only way they can get screwed up is if someone screws them up, using the correct tool for the job it is impossible to over tension ric truss rods, it is designed that way, your hands slips from the tool before it allows anyone to over tension them. but as usual there are idiots out there who know better !!! and screw them up with water keys !!! there are crap basses from any brand including Rickenbacker, my advice when choosing one is take someone with you who knows what they are talking about, most Rics that are messed up are by folks who are clueless, i own two 4003's at the moment a 2014 Ruby and a 2015 Jetglo both play well and sound fantastic. reason for this is they are set up correctly. i love the sound the feel the look what's not to like.

Rics can sound so different depending on what you want from it, plug a recent 4003 straight into an Orange terror bass and you will get a lovely deep warm tone, add in a Tech 21 vt rack and you are talking Geddy lee type tone, they are quite versatile basses.
