1. I am intrigued by the gloves......... As mentioned in other threads, I have arthritis... My hands are often very stiff and only heat/ warmth can get them going....i often drive with my hands taking turns at the hot blowers in The car on the way to play as fear of letting me get cold is always there..... Very often plunge my hands into a basin full of hot water before playing too..... I wonder if the gloves would help with this problem..... No probs with blisters or anything, purely to keep hands warm ? I do wear some funky looking neoprene type arthritis gloves after playing and through out the day, they are finger lees at the tips but to bully too play in, the are more about compression and support of the joints... Where can I buy such gloves for playing in, gotta be worth a try.....
2. It's about having the right tool for the job. If you play one style/ genre of music then that narrows things down, but if you have a couple of different projects on the go, well one size doesn't always got all...... My most trusted go to is my f jazz.
3. My old bass that genuinely fantastic instrument in every possible way..... Good luck with the sale rob...
4. I played rounds for years until recently I thought I'd try flats........ Straight away they felt alien to me, slinky and slippery making me over shoot frets even, I didn't think I was gonna get on with them at all and was tempted to take me straight back off. But I left them on and played for an hour and once is gotten used to the feel of them i then started to muck about with the tonal quality of them...... I absolutely love them ! Don't know why I have never tried them until now, can't see me ever going back to roundwound. I love the thumb when playing muted with a pick, I love the sound of finger style with no fret or finger noise and most of all i love the slap sound of them...... I suppose a lot won't like them for slap, for me they give that real mellow groove sound to a slap but remain growly and punchy too. Would recommend perseverance to any one trying them out. Jazz bass, flats, mesa tone.....awsome.
5. Yep, crippling arthritis has put the cosh on that for me Used the trolley tonight , it was great.... A little bit rickety under the weight of the mesa and the handle is a little too short but beats carrying it any day of the week. I had decided to go with the trolley rather then casters as I have the mesa ext cab for the walk about aswell and fixed Casters would prevent stacking.....but having used the mesa tonight for the first time (with the band) I'm not even sure I'll need the ext can as it is SERIOUSLY loud Will give it some thought
6.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to denigrate your purchase. After my first one went I bought another, and quite honestly it gets more use than the one which folds up but has fixed wheels. It's so compact that I keep it permanently stowed in the van.
Don't fret cup cake it was aimed more at this type of comment : " Those wheels won't last long being dragged over pitted pub car "
7. Big fan of d'addario chromes, flat wound 45/105.... Wicked tone and lovely feel. Bout £20 on ebeegeebee
8. Yeah yeah, I know what it is, it cost £15!!! I won't expect it to last for ever or have the strength and robustness of a heavy duty sack truck. I do have a slight amount of common sense. It says it can cope with 69kg and is pretty well constructed, Costco tend to sell decnt quality gear. so just one cab at a time, gentle gentle up and down curbs, i probably would assit the lift up and down curbs anyhoo just out of care for the amp/ cab itself. I figure it will be as strong or useful as the little one mesa sell.
9. Gonna glue some felt onto the base nice and neat, stop it scratchin up me radiator (Base not bass)
10. Costco £15 quality made, fold flat as a pancake in a nano second. Nuff said. 11. Da darrrr !!!! Costco £15. I don't expect it to last forever, but I gotta say its proper well made and folds up flat as a pancake in a nono second

13. SOLD FOR FULL ASKING PRICE ON EBAY For sale - Ashdown Mag400 (500w 4ohm head) & Ashdowm Mag 410T cab (8ohm) £350 For the pair I have just treated myself to a mesa walk about so up for sale is my sweet little Ashdown rig. This amp has led a charmed life and is pretty much as new. It's spent approx 12 months in a plush rehearsal studio and was used only once a week. Its has seen literally zero travel, never seen the back of a van, and been treated with care. The head is 500w at 4ohm but I have run it through the 4x10 cab which is 8 ohms, so technically the amp has only ever been treated gently at half its power, it has also never seen the volume above half way and been used for gentle song writing sessions only, never been gigged. It left the studio when I got smashed into a million bits in a bike crash, was brought home and stored in the spare bedroom covered up, run occasionally in the house at low volume. I've used it very recently for rehearsals but now have the mesa so it's got to go and raise some cash. I really would prefer collection from Runcorn (Cheshire/ merseyside area) and any trail is welcomed. It sounds great and has a great tonal range with its 5 band rotary EQ, warm and bright boost buttons, sub harmonics dial which is great. It has di out and effects loop, twin fans which are surprisingly quiet. I have loved this amp, is really has been well looked after and has no mentionable marks at all on it. The cab is light and it is easily transportable, the cab is a great size to fit easily in most car boots. The amp is built like a tank and clearly is a quality made In England piece of kit. Everything works as it should including the light in the analogue gain meter £350 collected from Runcorn. A hand made quality Ashdown ,made in England designed by mark Gooday, once cheif engineer at trace elliot, when trace elliot were good !!! Mark "left" trace elliot in 1997, went his own way and set up Ashdown engineering. Could explain why trace elliot went down hill not long after. Edit: Just looking at them pics , it's like new, I should have went over it with a bit over sticky tape to get a couple of odd bits off it, when I do that I reckon it would pass as new. The cab still has the original price sticker from Dawson's on the back of it at £399, the amp was same price
14. get out!! Ya spleen !! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G3kW5J7PDi8
15. Yes, another fan of Ashdown gear, but just upgraded to mesa (schoolboy bassist dream come true:) ) So, see my sig below, I have an extremely well kept and hardly used mag 400 amp head and mag4x10t cab for sale, very reasonable price for never gigged rig, gentle studio use only and led a charmed life. Enquiries within, will post sale add as soon as I have pics uploaded.
16. I once owned a German warwick streamer LX jazz man, a precursor i believe to the fna jazzman (?) There are enough imaginative descriptors on here, (go play some ) This bass was fantastic to play. The electrics /preamp gave me such a diverse tonal range but more importantly the neck was fantastic. Super flat how i like it, huge bell brass frets......... One i should never have let go. Of course the purist in me says it must be German what're ever you choose.
17. On second thoughts, re the casters.... I think the trolly will be the best option. Casters will prevent stacking.... Anyone know where I can get one at a reasonable price? The fold up one from Costco is cheap but looks strong, however, the mesa one looks nice and small, purpose made obviously
18.
I have the number of a good glazier and roofer when the windows and slates come loose. Glad your happy with the rig, I can almost hear it from here!
Hahah bet your neighbours are pleased to see someone driving off into the distance with them....... great to meet you last night andy. For anyone out there doing any future deals with andy (keeponehandloose) great guy, pleasure doing business....
19.
I used to use the handle on mine for short distances or for positioning , and longer distances I would cradle it like a baby , never was keen on all the bumps that trolleys or casters can transmit to amps.
Agreed, that's why the castors I'm looking At are heavy duty rubber jobs, i figured that the large the footprint of the rubber on the ground the more like the original foot it will be.... ??!
