  1. I'm thinking of selling this Mayones Custom PI bass, i bought it new last October, it's in mint condition, is 32in scale, ebony board, eye poplar facing, blue front and side leds, it has Bartolini pups and a 3 band aguliar preamp and a hard case. I've been using for the last 4 mths for both recording and live stuff but since aquiring another bass this hasn't been getting much of a look in. I'm looking for about £1500 which is £750 less than i paid. cheers Dave
  2. This turned up on my doorstep 3 months ago and i thought you guys might like a look.
  3. Ebs freak The thing i'm not totally happy with on the Mayones is the tone, its a nice bass to play and has a nice slim neck profile, but somewhat limited tonewise with Bartolinis and an Aquilar preamp. Plug it straight into a desk and it's pretty good straight away but if you want to experiment it's limited. The Alembic i've got is a standard point body shape,so there is no neck dive and you are right it is so easy to play fast with the narrower string spacing, but it is heavy and it's also got a hollow body i requested that for weight saving!!! Thats why i'm really going for a Rumour because i can have the great electronics package, super light overall weight, narrow string spacing, slim superfast neck, great customer service, i think when it turns up my other basses will be going back in there cases and under the bed. I can't Wait
  4. Well EBS freak i'm actually playing a Mayones 32in at the moment, a very nice easy to play bass but not exactly what i'm after and occasionally i play my 32in Alembo but that is rather heavy if used over extended periods.... i.e 15 minutes!!! The reason i went for the buckeye is i was after something slightly different, then i went to pick up an amp and cab of Bernie, saw James Spitfire in the flesh and Bernie mentioned he still had the other half left over from James build, i told him what i was looking for and we thrashed out some details ,although in every aspect apart from the buckeye it is going to be different from the Spitfire. I have seen some buckeye on Alembics that i can't really stand, all eyes etc but this piece although understated is still very interesting too.
  5. I'm not really a massive Mark King fan EBS freak, i like all the slappers out there, and i've got short arms hence the 32in scale!
  6. The 32in scale i've requested is a first as far as Bernie can recall. I tried a couple of 34in and that last little bit of neck was just a bit of a stretch and i'm used to playing a 32 as well. As far as the Buckeye goes we spent a fair bit of musing over the positioning etc..... and then Debra made a suggestion and guess what..... Bingo!!!! We had are positioning and it's going to look something else!
  7. Well i thought i better just chip in and let you guys know my Rumour orders been in for 5 or 6 weeks now. My spec so far is for a super light bass, (which Bernie says is no problem), 32in scale, slim custom neck width and profile, ebony fingerboard, the face wood is the other piece of Buckeye burl that was used in James Spitfire although turned around and not utilising the sapwood. I have not finalised the total electronics spec yet as there is no hurry, it will have leds but i'm not sure about the all singing and dancing ones. It will be used a lot for slap so i will be having the 'switch' all you guys are talking about! That's it really for the moment, i know it is going to be a long few months but time flies and i have plenty of fingernails!
