Yeah, i'm exactly the same, i can't see myself getting rid of this one now though, unless of course a prettier $$ comes up
Well, I'm selling the prettiest bass I think I've ever seen, I actually think I am coming to my senses http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=77791
I used to play with my old band a few years ago and had a Rickenbacker and Stingray. We played indie and rock, and they hated the Stingray sound but loved the Rick, I prefered playing the Stingray but the sound of the Rick. The thing is when I left the band the bassist who replaced me used a MM Sub and they thought that sounded great, but I could only achieve a trebley-punchy effect with my Stingray? Now we've reformed and I am using an American Deluxe P-Pass which gives me an all-round sound that I'm hapy with. I am looking to get another guitar to give me some variation and don't know what to get? I could get a Jazz but don't really want two Fenders but I really want something that will give me something the P-Bass can't. Logic is telling me to get a passive (as the P-Bass is active) and a thinner faster neck, therefore a Warwick although I have no experience with these. I'm quite confused and could do with peoples thoughts.
Try a Warwick Corvette $$. It will shake your world. It has a passive switch too, but what's the point? Mine can be a complete thug or a sweet and gentle as a buttercup at the flick of a switch and the turn of a button.

Brilliant evening! Great fun, great bands! Had a good old dance with my fellow Basschatterers and Ad was kind enough to give me a lift home! Thanks Ad

Mine dropped through the letterbox just now. Looking forward to reading about that funny looking thing on the cover.
If it were me, I would go for a Status Streamline - around the £1425 according to their pricelist.
Super cool bass, nearly bought one. Couldn't get an answer from Status though. So I ended up with a Warwick.
I'm thinking of buying a clear scratchplate and painting the underside to give a quick and painless way of personalising my Affinity P-bass, but I don't want to take the guard off to draw round it to make a paper template, then put it back on just in order to doodle on. Anyone know if there are any full-size scratchguard templates I can download from the internet to scrawl and play around on before I start unscrewing the real thing?
Given what you're telling us, it's patently not a quick and painless approach, is it chrisba is right, it's doubtful that downloadable templates will be correct fit anyway.
If it makes life easier I'l be wearing an Iron Maiden T shirt - and carrying a copy of The Times ( singapore edition )
An excellent image, Alistair I should be there about 8ish. Cheers.

I'm fairly easy to recognise and I've met Thunderbird13 and Jack before, look for long dark hair and hat, with a white carnation and a copy of The Times, just for a belt and braces approach to bass player recognition
The more I look the more I want....dammit!
Well, I would think very carefully about that, G. You like the heritage and prestige of "Fender" and I think to have that name on your 'stock is very important to you, there is an intangible pride and psychology to that. BUT, and it's a big BUT, I want this bass to go to someone who really appreciates it, and who has not made a rash decision based on how it looks. And I'm not in a rush. You can't imagine how much I want to keep it, but the 'vette wasn't generating any interest and I fell in love with it again anyway. Seriously, think very carefully, man. Cheers, Nigel -
Have an early bump. Quick someone, you have got to buy this quality instrument. Otherwise Nigel might change his mind and put one of those Warwicks back up for sale and I'll get all sweaty and start thinking about parting with cash I simply haven't got. Good luck mate it's got to sell, it looks the business. Cheers Rich
Marvin, thank you mate! I think it will take a while because people aren't familiar with the name so it's a bit of an unknown quantity. Thing is, it feels like a Fender but so much better than any Fender I've ever played. It's smoother, more organic, a remarkably well thought out instrument. The sounds are Fender-like but more sophisticated and subtle, the mid sweep is really something. Pat's done wonderful fretwork on what is the nicest Fender type neck I've ever played. Pat himself is a really nice guy too, really helpful. -
Thanks for the replies guys. I think it's going to have to be the Maple, got a nice light feel about it. Super excited now, just have to wait for pay day!
That's what I'd go for too. The only thing nicer is a rosewood block and bound.
The words "no trades please" suggest not!
Missed that completely! Looking at fan frets too long skews the vision. In fact I went for a harry nash after looking at the picture for a few minutes and pissed all over the floor.

Yeah, it matters more on guitars because of the wimpy higher frequencies. However, when you are making an earthquake, it don't mean sh*t what that earth is made of. Well that's how I see it chaps Get what you like looking at, and get quality.
I agree completely, but it's bad news IMO. It's just bluring the lines between the Rockbass and the German made stuff...
It will blur like Fender MIA MIM MIJ MII CIC CIJ etc. ie. It won't really make any difference. I adore my German Wicks. Just means if you don't have the cash you can get a cheaper one that looks just like it without the quality wood.

Over 60% off the old Rock Basses on Thomann at the moment.

I should be able to make it too. This is getting to be the Chiswick Bass Bash.

Hello James! How are you doing mate! Great to see you on here. (James took my Kopo Lina fretless off me last year. He is a top geezer and a wickid player.) All the best, Nigel
