Just that really. We are in a great position to cope better than most. We have a community here to talk to and something we love doing but never get enough uninterrupted time at.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I'll be spending much of the time doing bass-related stuff and various other musical activities.

But if I ever get bored with that (which, to be fair, is highly unlikely) I may actually and finally re-organize my sock drawer!! ;)

  2. I use bass pedals in Landmarq but to be honest it's a crude set up put together by our keyboard player. Organ bass pedals midi'd through a Roland processor and sent to the PA. Still does the job required though and when they grow up they want to be a set of Taurus pedals! :D

I always quite liked Steely Dan. Not a massive fan, so I wouldn’t know the albums – more a greatest hits kinda guy! I have been following this thread with some bemusement – the British disease written large on Basschat. While I appreciate not everybody will like SD, I am surprised at how many ‘musicians’ so actively dislike them. It’s not just them though, consider the following common opinions on BC about a few big artists from this (and many other threads):

Steely Dan – jazz harmonies and flavours combined with funk beats and a rock feel, combined in well crafted, accessible songs with razor sharp lyrics and stellar musicianship. BASSCHAT – ‘what do people see in the them, beige, how can anyone like this stuff?’

Jaco – a genuine virtuoso who revolutionised bass playing and transcended his chosen instrument in a similar way to a select few others (Hendrix, Coltraine, etc). Widely regarded by the general music community as one of the best and most influential musicians of his era. BASSCHAT – ‘he’s overrated / crap and if you disagree, you’re a deluded fanboy’…

Foo Fighters – in an age of overly manufactured pop and contrived rock (and for that matter rap) acts, probably the last of the great classic rock bands. Massively popular with passion, a bit of charisma, decent playing and a set of incredibly accessible hit songs that reference grunge, Led Zeppelin, punk rock, heavy stuff and Tom Petty all in a recognisable style of their own. BASSCHAT – ‘there is nothing about them that appeals at all’.

I should say that I only have a SD greatest hits album, the first Jaco solo album and the missus has the FF greatest hits in the house, none of which get played regularly. So given that I’m not exactly the biggest fan and I appreciate that everyone has their own taste, but jeez why are so many people on here so down on what is pretty solid music??

    Totally!

Have to say, having had the chance of a noodle on each of @Stingray5's Tune basses in the past, in a straight comparison between his 4-string (the "Hot Slapping "model - and be honest, who wouldn't want a model that's a Hot Slapper??!!)and my Bass Collection 30-something...for me, my BC wins every time. YMMV.

However, that 6'er is just a whole new ball game.  It's a very lovely piece of work that IMHO would keep up with pretty much anything you care to put up against it.

Here, in the hope that I'm not causing Mr. 'Ray5 to blush, is said bass in action; a video of our band Heads UP! at the 2017 Writtle JazzFest, playing my tune Killergram.

    Crumbs...!! ;)

  5. Just thought I'd revive this thread and see how many other Tune players might now be on Basschat.

Also, here's a bunch of pages with various specs from the Tune catalogue.

Aye it's a pretty thing. Piezo circuit is the same as my TWB-4Z 👍

VSN Guitars in Canada are the only folk I know stock Tune, don't have the fretless ATM so it's an email to Ned telling to get one 🙂 Not sure of a price but the most expensive is a 6 string leftie Hatsun for £800. Should give you a rough idea 😎

@Stingray5 has a couple.  You want to chip in here, mate?

    Happy to oblige. :)

In fact, I posted a few pics of my TWB-6 in the TunePorn thread way back in 2009. This 'ere post:

However, I'll park a couple or three here and just say that Japanese Tune's are a bit like hen's gold teeth, at least in the UK. Well worth snagging one, though, if the opportunity arises.

Japanese vintage Tune TWB-6 (c.1991). Purchased in 1997 from the Bass Centre, Wapping.

Also bought this Korean Tune SWV4-BB a few years back (through Basschat).

The main issue with Dropbox is it won't let me delete anything that's sent to me, I only need to listen through and see what's worth keeping, sometimes just listen to certain songs I know weren't great and scrutinise what went wrong, then delete it all. I won't need a lot of storage as long as I can delete afterwards.

If you're actually downloading the files to your own device, you should be able to delete them as normal. However, if you're listening to your band tracks via your drummers Dropbox account (i.e., in a shared folder), then you won't be able to delete the files as they'll be in his account.

With WeTransfer, the files are only on the server for 7 days then deleted. Once you've downloaded them, delete as appropriate.
