1.
Yes...but it would be so subtle you probably wouldnt notice as its only the top wood thats different and in a gigging situation you definately wouldnt notice. But then saying that the sound from mine is quite warm but that could be the mahogany main body, i know my SR500 has quite a warm sound and thats just a mahogany body. The 1800 sounds different but then it has different pickups and electrics. YMMV
Cool. Cheers mike! The SR500 is a great bit of kit (for the price point)! Playing my mates 500 is kinda what turned me onto the SR series in the first place
2.
I've been gigging my SR1205 for over 4 years now...unprecedented for me as I traditionally changed basses regularly. It sounds great, feels great, looks great is lightweight, portable in it's niche case and super comfortable. Every time I consider a change I simply gig it and subsequently forget such foolish notions...
Great, cheers white cloud, very reassuring. It appears that the SR's are a bit of a favourite... good to know lol
3.
the construction of the two is pretty much the same, mahogany and walnut body with different tops, so its just what floats your boat or theres this (5string only though) http://www.ibanez.co...=442&color=CL01 looks lovely
Do the tops make a difference to the tone atall? Would the ash top make the 1300 sound brighter and the 1800 (rosewood top) warmer (rosewood being typically warmer)? I know we've touched up on this before, but I just needed to be sure; I have never experimented with rosewood as a body wood before... unsure (but exciting) times! lol
4. Lol. I've had basses before that were ash bodies (and found them too bright), and although the 1300 is only an ash top, I couldn't help but feel a little apprehensive. But after your helpful words, I've warmed back to the 1300 again as much as the 1800. What to do! lol
5.
the SRF1805 nordstrand pickups are ace, great warmth, slight growl and can bite nicely when digging in, certainly a good upgrade from my SR500's bartolinis. Tonally i would say teh 1800's are warm sounding but it is unlikely the 1300's are really noticably brighter. i liked the darker colour of the rosewood/walnut/mahogany. Gigged mine again at the weekend and its a dream to play, cuts through really well with a solid foundation.
Hi Mike. Very reassuring mate, cheers! I agree, the darker colour is what does it for me also. Still, the 1300 is equally stunning. Hard to choose! lol
6.
The srff806 is actually a 6 string, I have the 5 string as well, the 805, it is a lovely bass, but it is not quite a premier. The neck is different (apart from the frets obviously) and the pickups are not as good. Still wouldn't want to part with it

The last number is often a clue as to the number of strings. I really like the bass - just trying to decide whether an electronics upgrade is worthwhile. The pickups and preamp are pretty decent (and no less an authority than Dave Swift really likes it), but I can't help but wonder what Nordstrands would sound like...
Lol, sorry both, I must've accidently hit the '5' key on my keyboard; I meant to press '6'. That'll teach me for typing without the lamp on lol. But yes, a lovely looking bass! I have never played one, but I did get a taste from this review... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFIznc30npU
7.
I have an Ibanez SRFF806 and it doesn't compare too badly with my two Dingwalls especially when you consider what it costs. I'd love to try the Prestige version, I've only seen the five string version of that.
Hi mate. I have seen reviews for the FF806; incredible bit of kit for the price point! I would've looked into one m'self, but I have no need for a 5-string. Happy playing!
8. Cheers everyone for your feedback, this is brilliant! Rikki1984 made a great point regarding the wood choices earlier... anybody concur? or have anything else to add to that?
9.
Technically you're correct on the tonal differences but the difference would be so minor as to be inconsequential. I would just choose whichever you prefer aesthetically, to be honest.
I had a feeling that this would be the case. Cheers Rikki, that's great mate!
10. Awesome guys! Can anyone comment on the wood choices. I also had my eye on the SR1800 y'see, and I just wondered how the two compare tonally? SR1300 body: Ash & Walnut top/Mahogany back body SR1800 body: Rosewood & Flamed Maple top/Walnut & Mahogany back body. I'm not a wood aficionado, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I noticed that the SR1800 features BOTH Rosewood and Mahogany (typically warm sounding woods). Does this means that SR1800 would be 'warmer' sounding overall compared to the SR1300, which features an Ash top (Ash being typically brighter)? Or am I totally mistaken? lol.
11. Hi everyone. This is great. Thank you all for your feedback! How similar is the nut profile to a Fender jazz? Their website says it's 38mm at the nut (a standard jazz being 38.1 I believe)- how true to form is this, does it play fast?
12.
Here is a review on Rob Chapmans channel by Dave from Dorje. https://youtu.be/QBxfvJ-FrhE
Lol, thanks jezza. Already seen this vid. Wanted to hear what our fellow basschatters had to say though
13. Hi all. Hope you're well. Looking into the SR1300 Premium 2016 model (NTF) as my next bass, and just wanted to hear some of your 'post-purchase' experiences regarding the Premium series in general (ie playability, durability etc)? All feedback appreciated. Cheers Greg.
14. Hi all. Cheers for the feedback, really helpful. Thanks. I shall swing it past the luthier and see what can be done. If he disagrees with the points made here (and not to mention from leo quan himself), then he's obviously not worth his salt... or my money lol. Thanks again all.
15. Hi all, hope you're well. Just wondering whether the saddles should (or shouldn't) be filed down to correspond with the strings. I've always operated under the notion that you DID. However, the luthier that I sent it to claims that you DON'T; instead, suggesting that it will eventually break itself in. It wasn't a problem until I started to slap, and the g string started moving around on the saddle. Should I be seeking a second opinion?
16. Amazing lads. Will have a look myself!
17. Hi all. 'Balanced tension'? Trying to work out if they could be the ones for me, anybody else using them out there that can shed some light please? Pro's and con's (if any)? Cheers.

19. Hi bigdave. Cheers for the feedback, and lol, I'm not selling my pedals. Basically I just want to save my pedals for studio based stuff, and use the M9 for travel; I'm hoping it will be cheaper to fly
20. Hi all. Ok so, I've got my eye on the Line 6 M9, to replace my current pedal board for 'on the road' use. I have a couple of questions... 1) It's common for certain units to suck all the low end frequency out of your signal- how does the M9 hold up on bass? 2) My current board consists of... Boss TU-3 tuner > Boss OC-3 octave > WMD fatman (envelope filter) > Mooer Lofi machine (sample rate reducer)... how will the M9 compare, will it match the same tone of these pedals (enough to replace them anyways?). User feedback welcome. Cheers.
21. Hi all. I'm on the market for a gated (synthy) fuzz that works well with active basses. When I was a passive man, my weapon of choice used to be the Zvex Woolly Mammoth; however, it's become common knowledge that they don't work so well with active circuitry. I've found this to be true and false; the tone is still great, but the 'pinch' (gate control) doesn't appear to be effective anymore. Any recommendations? Cheers.
22. Hi all. Ok so, I've been playing my Fender MIM jazz for a while now, and though it sounds great, it's action makes it a nightmare to play. I'm a light player who enjoys funk/disco, where the lines are often busy. To cut the story short... I need the action as low as I can get it! At the moment, if it's set too low, I get buzz; subsequently, the action needs to remain higher... obviously, this is no longer acceptable Some have insisted upon a fret dress; is there any additional factors that I should be considering... Bridge type etc? Cheers. P.S - My neck radius is 9.5 (modern C) and the gauge of string I use are 'Regular Lights' (45-65-80-100).
23. This is great lads. Cheers for the feedback. Will definitely consider it now!
