1. So, my hartke 4.5xl lasted about two months before blowing a driver. The 115xl is doing fine. So I could carry on gigging I found a battered old 4x10 Hartke transporter and sadly.......I prefer the sound. Its battered to be fair but I have straightened, painted and added spacers to the grill, re-wired it and put a new decal on it. It looks mega. Its also about a third lighter and smaller than the 4.5!!!! Why did they discontinue it?

3. Skulduggery and quibble are to be used in vocal abundance today. Might even shoehorn them into some lyrics later. Argos are going to get a visit. By the way that address is fruitless on google maps. Can't I email the beer to you?
4. Yes. Now that's impressive. I thought about that but haven't got a router. Post a pic if you will.
5. Shim done. Not as painful as I thought. Saddles back up and neck fettled. Back on the beer after trying to sus out the flappy noise from one of my 4.5 xl drivers. Two months old and already sounds crap. Hartke.........I give up.
6. Gotoh fitted. It sounds much wider. Can't believe that stock bridge. Its like an ashtray! Sadly my hartke 4.5xl is playing up so Fridays gig might sound a bit sketchy.
7. Just had it all apart. Nothing touching and speaker isn't rubbing. Nothing is loose either. I am really annoyed as I have a gig Friday and it sounds awful. I will have to run with it before I contact the supplier for a warranty repair.
8. Bass note as opposed to not.......
9. Hi, I am running a GK1001rb through a hartke 4.5xl. I was playing it low level today and noticed one of the drivers is making a slight distorting noise as the bass not fades out. A really quiet buzzing. At high levels its not noticeable. I suppose if the amp was blown, all the speakers would buzz. Anyone else had this?
10. Yeah, I play my four string hard so it probably best its high. The sound difference is noticeable. A little wider I would say. Looks great and the G doesn't drift.
11. I haven't shimmed it. I am scared. At the mo the E is a little quiet, the G is a little buzzy on the 17th and I think putting a shim in the mix will create chaos. The saddles are as low as they can go. Help!!!!!
12. A gentleman and a scholar. Top bit of kit and lovely to chat too via email. I expect he is dashingly handsome also!
13. Whilst the bridge is off I mean!!!
14. Awesome instructions!! I may have to do this today after fitting my jazz with a Gotoh 201 bridge. I am thinking of doing it anyway whilst the bridge and neck are off?
15. Yes. I might put a card shim under the neck whilst the strings are off. The saddles are very low on the screws but still very high.
16. I have measured the string height from the body so the action will hopefully be the same. I was just wondering if the heavier strings will bow the neck at all? I really know nothing about neck adjustment!!
17. He he, maybe I will focus on the beer and give it a go tomorrow. Sound advice!
18. Hi all, I am drinking beer and about to mod my MIM Fender Jazz with a Gotoh bridge. I am no tech guy so need advice. If I change the string gauge, will I need to change the saddle height? 19. Okay, maybe playing covers is more akin to reading a book aloud rather than re-writing it. I do not have a problem with covers bands, the musicianship is awesome in some cases, I just don't get why some people only play covers.
20. The book analogy is a good one. There are thousands of good books out there that have never been read. A sad state. Also, if a book has already been written, why write it again?
21. I have always played originals. I just don't get the covers thing. I know there is money to be made but I just do not see the point. Its great that people are playing but if you are capable of playing, say, stairway to heaven.......then you have enough fretboard knowledge to make your own music.

23. I am now looking for a gotoh 201 bridge. I play quite hard and the g string keeps shifting. Anyone know of one going cheap?
24. Hmmm, after some research I have found out that lightening rods are for active basses. Doh!
