  1. I’m all open to suggestions but the fusion 550 is way more power than I’m using let alone need… …unless I missed something?!
  2. so, after much deliberation, I've decided that my much loved USA SVT II Pro and 4x10 cabinet (and basses but that's another story) are soon going up for sale / trade Why oh why I hear you cry?! Many reasons but long story short, its just not getting used as it should and probably wont be any time soon, seems a waste to have such a beast of an amp just sitting there gathering dust and pleading to be used so what next? I'm gassing for something but I'm not sure what, maybe something orange, maybe something trace, maybe something Ampeg, maybe something else altogether... something that'll give a nice clean tone but bark, scream and shout when needed looking for... smaller (space is becoming an issue but not so much that it IS an issue) lighter (not discounting heavier combos which COULD negate the above point) less power (maybe/probably) something I could use at home and practice as well as small gigs (asking for the impossible?!) I find myself amongst a minefield of amps to look at / choose from and possibly asking a bit too much Basschatters...what would you do? what would you look at / suggest?!
  3. Yup, filled with a PJ quarter pound set and still a go to bass… I’ve tried other basses (lots of them too) and I just can’t get quite as comfortable with any of them as I do with my SR’s Added to the SR300 that I had our very own @Andyjr1515 fill and route for me, I’ve since had another SR300 filled and routed with a MM pickup in the sweet spot, works a treat
  4. It until THE Jeff Duncan has been found….
  5. @karlfer @itsmedunc in the best way possible, looking at the battle scars of poor old Jeff’s case…I’d suggest that it is in fact the case that is Spartacus…
  6. Hold your horses @PTB might not be as easy as you’d hoped…Jeff MAY have to wait a while longer… you sir, have a PM….
  7. I’m no Jeff Duncan but if I can work out how/when I can get to south Croydon, I’ll happily take it off your hands and track down the myth, the legend, the man whom Jeff Duncan may be…..maybe….
  8. Apologies all, looks like it’s going to senor @binky_bass thanks for all the interest
  9. ANOTHER price drop…. £60 posted Just need this to be gone…
  10. I make it 23 3/4” ish (605mm if your that way inclined)
  11. @lemmywinks he’s been trying to sell that for a looonng time, it’s for sale on several sites at different prices albeit around the same mark, I might be wrong but I suspect his pricing is a little…optimistic best of luck to him all the same though
  12. £75 posted in the UK, collection from Maldon, Essex or meet up nearby is welcome. £60 and a cuppa if you collect, £65 and a Ginsters if you don’t want to travel that far any ridiculous offers /swaps / trades considered just want this out of the way now…
  13. @Stub Mandrel well spotted sir, the recess is indeed unvarnished…
  14. @Jabba_the_gut yup! @lemmywinks just to satisfy your curiosity even further…
  15. @Brother Jones thanks for the input, I’m always happy to be corrected on any misinformation I have posted, I was/still am to a certain extent confident that the through stringing on this bass is an aftermarket mod, if I may point you towards these threads then hopefully you can see why… @alyctes it’s yours if you want it ha ha
  16. Recently acquired late 70’s / early 80’s Hohner Jazz type bass Good points… bass is in a decent condition for its age Electrics work as they should and it does sound fantastic Pickups appear to be original although I’m not knowledgable enough to be able to comment on the rest of the electronics Bass feels solid and very well put together Points to note… the bass has been modded at some point in its life to accept through body stringing, the mod has been done to a high standard and is tidy enough Not so good points… the truss rod nut has been a little chewed and is above my skill set to get it moving again Will need some fret work, given the lack of truss rod movement the bass plays fine but does have a fair amount of buzz between 1st and 3rd frets, not much past that but I’m not sure if that’s to do with the current high action or high / low frets As much as I like this bass I just can’t gel with the neck that feels, to me, like a tree trunk in comparison to my Ibanez’s would make a decent instrument for someone with the time & skills to get the truss rod working and fret work done or you could throw another neck on it and away you go photos show the only marks / dings I could find I did email Hohner themselves (as well as ask the basschat massive for their thoughts in a separate thread) to see if I could get any solid information on this bass as what I’ve seen on the internet seems to be a bit sketchy (please see attached image for what they COULD tell me) Happy to entertain any offers or trades, not looking for anything in particular so try me with whatever you have, would add cash for anything that tickles my fancy, musicman / OLP or Ibanez soundgear type things would be of particular interest Not 100% on what these are worth in this condition so If I’ve over priced it please do send me a message and I’ll adjust accordingly £60 posted in the UK, collection from Maldon, Essex or meet up nearby is welcome. £50 and a cuppa if you collect, £55 and a Ginsters if you don’t want to travel that far still accepting any offers / trades / swaps
  17. Ladies and gents… if I may direct your attention to the following thread, namely my last comment… I can’t get ANY movement on the truss rod AT ALL! when I got the bass it was pretty grime and had rust all over, so I’m not sure if it’s rusted or done for people of the basschat fraternity…any advice on what I can do to work out if it’s ceased and dead or just stuck a little bit would be of massive help and greatly appreciated
