1. Loving the candy apple red Jazz on sale there too! Out of the two you were looking at I'd choose the 399 one. Nearly half price! I'd actually buy that if I had the money. The wording says bolt on but picture is a thru neck. Which is it?
2. Crikey my local store nevada has the contemporary J 4 up for £521! I thought the RRP was much lower than £580. Shows how much I know! Your local store must be the one with the big sale on as they have the J 4 for £329! That is a good saving isn't it!!
3.
Don't underestimate the quality of the Tanglewaters. A lot of people who own one of those and the British-made Overwaters tend to say there's not a lot between them. My Contemporary J4 is better than every MIM Fender I've played and most MIA Fender (there have been two MIAs that have been better sounding/playing). Sadly I've only had a chance to play a Rockbass and not a German made Warwick so can't compare to those. Maybe someone who's played both can say of there's a big difference between them.
I'm not underestimating them, I started on a Tanglewood Rebel 4k and it was a cool bass. But if I was to spend 400 on a new bass for myself I'd definitely make sure I've searched all the second hand markets in case of a bargain. There was a J5 for sale on here a while ago too. I also really like the look of them and would even buy one at the right price.
4. Buy a better quality used 5 string. A German Warwick Corvette Proline went for £417 on ebay the other day. Ok it was purple but still looked stunning with the flamed maple top. Heres the link... http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 I know what I'd choose. Even if it was purple.

6. Just spotted this on ebay in my town. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Phil-Jones-M500-Bass-Amp-with-8T-and-16b-cabs-/161232068544?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item258a2e1fc0 What the.... Could someone explain a bit about it? Why so many small speakers? Looks cool!
7. ^^Nice Here is my AH600SMX. It is used in bi-amp mode into the 1510(Ignore the eq, it is rarely used).
8. I've never been keen on P basses, hated them in fact. Always prefered jazz. But I do like the one Scott has! It sounds awesome too. Has changed my mind on them slightly!
9. Something like scott devines? http://youtu.be/eoVfamlcbYo
10. Ok this might be someone everyone has heard of but I did a search and couldn't find anything. If however you haven't heard this woman play you are in for a treat. My jaw just dropped watching her videos on youtube. Her timing and execution is flawless. http://youtu.be/DoJh129HsfM http://youtu.be/PnqqGVWVy3g
11. The narrowest part of the string is about 5.7cm inc the ball. And about 5.2cm without. Including the step it is about 6.4cm in total. Give or take a mm or two.
12. Warwick strings have a tapered B on the yellow, black and emp series.
13. Wow I thought I done well just finding a bass for £35. You found a proper bargain! Nice!
14. It does sound good. Especially through the trace. I asked warwick a few questions I had and one was the new German basses. They cost at least 2000€ more than the pro series. "Every instrument is now one-of-a-kind and made from individually-selected woods and equipped with high-tech features such as Invisible Fretwork Technology and our ultra-thin UV lacquer that dries in seconds. Also, as of 2013, our Made in Germany instruments now come with CNC-routed brass bridges, and Wenge necks." Is that really worth an extra 2,000€? Not that I could ever afford one. Is there anything else different?
15. [IMG]http://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae190/adamd87/Mobile%20Uploads/FLVetteSTD5.jpeg " class="ipsImage" /> With an added B. I own the 5 string fretted. It is awesome
16. Love all your Warwicks! Here is mine. Sadly only a corvette standard but still a German Warwick. Made is 2002 from Bubinga. Owned from new. Usually come with chrome hardware but mine came with black which suits it much better in my opinion. Also came with seymour duncan basslines pick ups which I found out Dirk Lance from incubus supposedly used seymour duncans in is stage II which made me happy as he was probably my biggest influences! I didn't spec the upgrades. I actually had nothing to do with ordering my bass so got kinda lucky! I got some Black Label strings for Christmas. What is peoples opinions on the Warwick strings? I've only ever used mainly Blacks and Reds a couple of times. It is the tapered B that annoys me as I don't want to file my bridge. Am I stuck with warwick strings or is there better, similarly priced ones with a tapered B? No arty grassy or pebble pictures either! I must get round to cleaning it to. 18. So I've had the squire for a few days now. I've given it a polish, cleaned the fretboard, polished the frets and lowered the action. I've been playing it more than the warwick. Maybe it is just because it is a new toy, or the fact I can play a 4 string again. But it plays really nice! I run it just on the jazz pick up and it doesn't sound bad at all. Pleasantly surprised. Would be cool to get rid of the P pup and stick in a humbucker or another J but that would be a big project. Maybe one day. Took some photos of the polishing to show what it was like.

Hello all

Thanks Bert and 'iamtheelvy'! I'm in Horndean/Clanfield. 10 mins outside Pompey
20. A cheap squire mb 4 bass which I found for sale on a facebook group. It was bought to leave at my friends pub so when ever we fancied a jam out of the blue I wouldn't have to go home to get the corvette. I've put some old warwick strings on it for now, the 3 strings it had on there were completely dead. Also had to re-solder the tone pot wires as the pot was loose and they had snapped off at some point. Next it is going to get a good clean and setup once I've found a small enough allen key. Body is ok, few light scratches and dings but nothing too serious. Lovely metallic black colour. I valet/detail cars for a job so I may take my machine polisher to it and make it really shine. Couple of pics next to the Warwick... Not bad for £35 I think. Even came with the strap! (Don't know why the pictures have come up sideways?)
21. Although I am out of the times, has been a while since I looked at bass equipment! The newer ones seem to be the Marshall MB15 and MB30. Either way, put one of those on your list too.
22. Thanks again! When I get round to fixing it I'll post some pictures of it working, and maybe a little video going from solid state to valve. If it works!
23. My first amp was a 25w Marshall B25 combo bought back in 2000ish. I still have it and still use it today as my little practice amp or when I go to a friends pub for a small bass and guitar jam. Marshall are obviously one of the biggest amp manufacturers around and it is a well built little amp. They can be picked up for around £50 second hand. Has Bass, Mid, and Treble pots for adjustment, active and passive inputs and a headphone output. Not the bassiest of amps but its only small and I only have my 600w trace to compare it to but sounds sweet for its size. It is definitely worth a look on your local gumtree or ebay for one.
24. Have you tried contacting Warwick to see if they can help?
25. Cheers guys. I thought that might be the problem but it is always good to hear others opinions. Now my question is where can I get a direct replacement? Lots on ebay but I am unsure what one I need to get. The pot says this... B50KΩ2P. I've seen mono, stereo, linear and log pots. What sort is right for my trace? Here is a picture of the broken pot and one of the whole unit for you tech lovers.
