1. Dr Teeth & The Electric Mayhem are actually a clockwork-powered acoustic group of denture wearers.
2.
(Sotto Voce) That fact almost sounds true...so what the hell is it doing in this thread? If you post true facts the thread will lose all credibility.
My mistake, but the event was of such stratospheric cheesiness the image is still burned into the retinas of those present to witness it. Audience and film crew members were the first ever instances recorded of people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Mr Argent was so upset at this that all royalties from God Gave Rock & Roll To You are donated to PTSD charities and he promised never to move his guitar in sync with a bassist again.
3.
"Pro-Pain"
That would work a lot better if said in a southern drawl, like pro~~~~~paaaaaayyyyne Rodney Terence Argent is an English rock musician and a founding member of the 1960s English rock group the Zombies and the 1970s band Argent. Their most famous song being "God Gave Rock & Roll To You" of course which was played live on The Old Grey Whistle Test where the bassist wore dungarees and moved the bass in a circular motion in time with Rod Argent on order to appear as cheesy as possible.
4.
Sorry to get all bureaucratic but posting a non entry on Wiki for a Band hardly qualifies as a fact...in 'fact' if there was a Mod watching , I'd complain!
Link fixed I posted it to further clarify the fact given in the post above it, just for the fun of it. As for mods, I think they all gave up on thread weeks ago :-)
5. I have spent 3 days in my workshop solving this cable problem. Having made a foot diameter cable from copper ore mined from the moon (man, that place is harder to get to than Kings Cross after network rail have been "fixing" things) if you run the cable at crynogenic temperatures and voltages over 1 million bagillavolts you have a 3% gain in bass skill over a standard £10 cable from the local music shop. It sounded awesome on my ebay Rickenfaker I bought for £18 and restrung with fencing wire.
6. http://en.wikipedia....Biohazard_(band)
7. Heavy metal outfit Biohazard have been disbanded by the Health & Safety Executive after performing without correct signage to warn punters of the dangers. The £10,000 fine pushed the band into liquidation. Ex lead singer Evan Seinfeld commented "this is elf n saftie gun mad innit, fackin lard of tosh dis"
8. Rock/Rap outfit Dog Eat Dog were originally 3 Labradors, 2 German Shepherds and a Dalmatian. The Dalmatian ate both Lab's and ended up being muzzled and restricted to only playing drums from then on. The two Labs were replaced by humans bringing the band to the current lineup.
9. To quote your title:
Facebook is changing, can you trust it?
No. But you couldn't before either - so what's changed? Delete personal account, keep band account, but are you really putting bums on seats/drinks at the bar with the facebook page?
10. Contraflow Carpark Men Not At Work, Just Leaning On Stuff The (Traffic) Jam
11.
I think that would have to be between every note to work properly. It's going to be a long gig and f*** up your sustain.
I find my sustain is by far improved if I jiggle the cable up and down. As we all know an electron is a 3D electromagnetic standing wave so if I waggle the cable up and down in a sinusoidal fashion it will at least sustain, and sometimes enhance those waves, meaning I can sustain a note for up to 10 minutes. This only works in cables costing more than £2000 though so poor people always have poor sustain. Just a fact of life. Ask Victor Wooten, he has good sustain so I'm told by t'internet so it must be true.
12.
Thanks for the heads up re the Campaign .Once I've finished the ap I'm working on ( big news for Dec25th) it will tie in nicely. Do Google Maps have one to the Moon?
I don't think Google do, yet, but I know it is where parcelforce hide all the parcels they cannot be bothered to deliver. They used to use the Manchester canal but a combination of do-gooders clearing it out, and it overflowing with shopping trolleys and stolen cars meant an alternative had to be found. More rocktastic trivia: Roy Wood is only a Wizard at weekends. During the week he does charity work for an orphaned kitten voluntary group.
13.
Sounds a bit of a tall story? You sure this is a fact? This may need independent verification as we can't have any old crap being posted on here.
Of course, I wouldn't want to ruin such an encyclopaedia of rock knowledge such as this thread by posting made up rubbish. I'm going to campaign to have this entire thread carved into granite and installed in an air tight chamber on the moon. It shall be archived for evermore** Back to rock facts: Wonga puppet look-a-like Charlie Watts was recently featured on an episode of Antiques Roadshow. He was valued at £750 but Fiona Bruce suggested there were a number of fakes around so this one should be sent for independent verification. **If I can't raise enough funds for the moon this thread may end up being printed out and stuffed into my office cupboard until the next clearout. Or I get cold and burn it for fuel.
14. Super-cool poptastic beanpole Sophie Ellis-Bextor is over 7 feet tall. At the age of 15 she was only 4ft 3" but concocted a medicine in the shed of her next door neighbour, Roald Dahl, and the rest as they say is history.
15. Rock legend Warren Zevon penned the icon riff-laden tune "Werewolves of London" after a particularly long evening involving Campari cocktails at the Squalliday Inn, South Birmingham. The same night inspired the song of the latter title by the Heavy Metal Kids but Warren Zevon made it sound posher by changing it to London and werewolves instead of vomiting binge drinking laddettes in B'ham.
16. Cheers for the adblock link - installed now - bye-bye temptation for LBGS in March!
17. Well I hope you entered the secret santa then you can look forward to a random basschat member buying you the present of your dreams! That music stand you've always wanted, new handles for your cab, J vs P T shirt, so much to look forward to To cheer you up here is a Christmas rock-fact: Slade's timeless xmas hit "Merry Christmas Everybody" was written in just over 4 minutes by Mr Holder himself whilst queuing at the local M&S for a last minute Yule Log in December 1973. It also stands as one of the few ever xmas singles to still chart in February! (true that bit actually).
18. After her fag and Bacardi breezer break Pixie followed the above by offering her sincere thanks to her family including brother Costa, sisters Par-Kin & Auk-shun, plus her half brother National Lott-Ery
19. A standing ovation for Lojo there for 10 pages of nonsense!
20. Here are a few of our more popular choons: Dakota Johnny Be Goode (I know, I know) Times Like These Hard To Handle Proud Mary Get Over It Call Me The Breeze
21. Up and coming band Blackberry Smoke were originally called Blackberry Fire. However trading standards took issue as it is false to claim a blackberry will burn. A compromise was reached out-of-court when it was agreed that a blackberry will smoke when heated, but not burn. Hence Blackberry Smoke was coined. I personally prefer the name Cranberry Smoulder.
22. Wow, in the States they have places that bands can drop off their bass players until required. We have those in the UK too but mainly for drummers, usually called "the bar".
23. The Macclesfield-based tribute band of hard-rock outfit "Rainbow" is made up of the following members: Cilla Black Jason Orange Jack White Jake & Elwood Blues Al Green James Brown P!nk They play an eclectic mix of Rainbow songs interspersed with the classic rock favourites from bands such as Blue Oyster Cult, The Silver Bullet Band, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Green Day etc. Well worth going to see in my opinion.
24. Ed Sheeran was created by Jim Henson's Workshop. A rare true fact in this thread of ridiculousness.
