  1. For me it’s the Ashdown RM 610, easy enough to cart around and a good sound too. Previously owned a Marshall 4x10, Marshall Vba412, Marshall Vba810, Ampeg 410he, Ampeg Svt 410hlf, Ampeg 610hlf, Ampeg 810, Gallien Krueger 210RBH, Ashdown Mag 410, Ashdown Abm 410, Peavey 410tvx, Peavey 115bw. I think over all of these the Ashdown RM610 blows them all out of the water for balance, heft and punch.
  2. Thanks for all the input guys, great help. One final question, has anyone tried the Mk3 Bass terror 500? Thoughts? Just covering all bases and thoughts that have popped into my noggin
  3. The only thing that holds me back from pulling the trigger on the Svt 3 is the reports of lacking power
  4. Many thanks for the input guys, certainly something to consider. My other part of thinking was to even keep the Evo 1 and possibly look at buying an Ampeg Svt 3 pro Or one of those Orange OB1-500 heads. Any experience of those in comparison?
  5. I’ve currently got an Abm 500 Evo 1 and I’m toying with the Abm 600 Evo IV Is it worth the update/upgrade? Any audible difference?

  12. Hi Walshy, this looks like the ticket to throw on my Stingray. Where do the battery terminals connect too?
  13. I noticed they were still in stock at bassdirect
  14. Great to hear, next what roundwounds do you guys use on them?
  15. I’ve got a Musicman 3eq Stingray which I’m really happy with apart from I find the eq can jump significantly from the centre decent to just off it. I’d like a little more control over this and also the ability to boost and shift the mid range seems quite appealing too. Does anyone use the East MMSR 4 preamp on theirs and can give me any feedback and experience of having this mod? Cheers
  16. The output volume sits at between 9-10 o’clock, loud enough.
  17. That’s good because it lives in the red section. 🤣
  18. Hi all, I'm after some advice, the way I have the head setup the input uv lives in the red, there’s no sign of any audible clipping is his ok? I usually run the gain at 12 o’clock and feel the uv meter doesn’t really give an accurate reading. I ask as I don’t want to damage the head in any way whatsoever. Setup is as follows: Musicman 3eq Stingray Darkglass B7K into the high input Ashdown Abm 500 Evo i Ashdown Routemaster 6x10 (Horn off) Additionally any recommendations for a very light comping compressor that I can stick on the pedal board? Cheers
  19. Got one better, there’s a sterling ‘sterling‘ bass in the classifieds section with the John east preamp. Not mine but would be a far better choice.
  20. Many thanks guys, it’s my favourite type of sunburst on guitar or bass and I’m a sucker for it 🤣
  21. So after many questions and wanted posts put up I finally made a decision and it was bang on the money. After many years of playing precision basses, I’ve been looking at alternatives as I find the USA precision bass necks a like bigger than I like and can cope with. After deliberating over Sadowsky (Blooming expensive and I don’t get on the the jazz offset body), Warwick (Lovely looking basses but again couldn’t find what I was exactly after) which finally lead me to revisit Musicman. I’ve had the odd MM Stingray and Sterling bass over the years and I always loved the feel/playability of these but struggled with the onboard preamp mainly because I didn’t really understand how they worked many years ago due to being young and inexperienced. I finally decided it was time to revisit owning one and see if for once, and for all if I could make it work for me...... Its a 1996 Ash Body Stingray, the colour was what one me over as it’s very pretty but after using it at practice last night, I think I’ve finally cracked....I still may look into a John East preamp for it in the near future but I’m thoroughly pleased with it. As usual it’s never an official new bass day without pictures:
  22. I’m certainly torn over the lx 4 & cv 4. The appeal of the Warwick cv is it’s a jazz type bass but without the offset body to contend with. I've always been a Fender guy yet the jazz bass body doesn’t really work for me. The same with USA Precision’s, everything’s great apart from the neck profile which is a little larger than I prefer, I did look around for a used US Jazz bass neck but ultimately they are either overpriced or few and far between. Because of this I’ve started looking elsewhere to see who else caters for this area. I also saw G&L did the JB-2 which looks to be the ticket yet the Us versions again are quite uncommon too and never in Europe or the uk plus I don’t fancy importing one either. The Lx took my fancy even though it’s a PJ configuration rather than JJ as I’ve seen a finish I really like in the LX range so was after some opinions.
