  2. 38 year old Guitarist/Bassist looking for band or band members based around South Lincs, Rutland, Peterborough area and surrounding areas - preferably within 20-30 miles of Stamford.

I have decent gear, access to transport and been playing for 30 years. I also have experience in recording, gigging and songwriting.

Style wise I’ve always been on the punk/alternative side of music - I’m a solid rhythm player rather than a lead playing virtuoso.

I’m looking to either start a band, join an existing/established band or would consider joining a covers band.

Here are some links to what I’ve been involved in:

  5. I’ve had a white one and these and also a black one. Cracking basses, quite a narrow neck from memory and strings can be hit or miss on the low e string.

    Bargain price!

  6. Hi guys,

    It’s been a while….

I’m currently using an Ashdown ABM 500 Evo head through a route master 6x10 cab.

Love the cab and the power/grunt of the Abm but I’m not completely in love with the character - a while ago I borrowed an Ampeg scr di which sounded good but the di was noisy/high pitch low volume squeal so I never bought one.

Which leads me to this, I love the Ampeg character/punch they deliver and I’m contemplating on whether to keep the Ashdown and purchase the new Ampeg SGT Pedal or sell the head and get an Svt 3 pro.

They only thing that’s holding me back is I keep hearing/reading how gutless the svt 3 is.

What has other peoples experience been?

For context I play rock/alternative stuff with an ash bodied musicman stingray.

    Cheers

  7. I’ve got a set of Stainless steel DR DDT 115-55 on a Stingray and they are great for D Standard and dropped C - I’ve had these on since July with around 5 hours of playing per week and am now looking to replace as the zing has now gone but the strings themselves despite being discoloured are perfectly serviceable.

On my Jazz I’m trying out some Nickel D’Addario EXL160 Balanced tension 120-50 which are great in the same tuning also, just put these on the Jazz so will report back on these.

  8. For me it’s the Ashdown RM 610, easy enough to cart around and a good sound too.

    Previously  owned a Marshall 4x10, Marshall Vba412, Marshall Vba810, Ampeg 410he, Ampeg Svt 410hlf, Ampeg 610hlf, Ampeg 810, Gallien Krueger 210RBH, Ashdown Mag 410, Ashdown Abm 410, Peavey 410tvx, Peavey 115bw.

I think over all of these the Ashdown RM610 blows them all out of the water for balance, heft and punch.

I’ve had two SVT-3PROs, good amps but if expectations are of the traditional SVT sound it doesn’t quite meet it. Plus the size of it, and the fact it really needs to be in a rack case made it pretty cumbersome & awkward to cart about. Being a major Ashdown Fanboi I’d stick with the original thoughts of the ABM600, I found it to be more versatile than the Ampeg, lighter/easier to carry, and wayyyyy louder.

The only thing that holds me back from pulling the trigger on the Svt 3 is the reports of lacking power
